Why don't more countries start combining?

I have an idea to solve the issue of oppression around the world. We take all the oppressive countries around the world and combine them into fewer, larger countries. The reason small countries can't be free is that, while big countries like America have more eyes on their leaders and this keeps them from oppressing their own citizens, small countries like Iraq don't have enough eyes on their leaders and that's why they're not free. If we simply combine the countries into bigger countries, they will have enough eyes on their leaders and it will increase accountability and make them free.

What.

How is it impractical when it is a proven fact that bigger countries are freer than smaller countries? Again, no facts, simply feelings.

That’s neither a proven fact or a logical viewpoint.

If you take a big country like America, wouldn't you think since they have more eyes on their leaders and they would be more free than a small country like Iraq? Oh wait, they are.

Hateful bigots will never go along with shared governance with countries of color, and not with those soshalist lib'rals of Europe, either.

wow, the race card is thrown from the farthest regions of the loony zone.

The others are all irrelevant because small countries can't be free because they don't have enough eyes on their leaders and their leaders will become dictators. The only reason some small democracies do exist and their leaders aren't becoming dictators is because we're protecting them from Russia.

I think Switzerland is a small Country
its pretty free
so is Finland
and Russia doesn't want another repeat from 80 years ago

1) Ethnic tensions going back hundreds if not thousands of years. '
2) Different religions
3) Different political histories
4) Nationalistic pride
5) Lack of interest from the people themselves

Your premise is totally untrue, by the way; China, a rather large country, has pretty much never been "free"

How do you propose to convince the leaders to give up their power without a war?

It's not just the leaders. It's the people as well. Patriotism exists everywhere. How would you feel if you got a letter in the mail declaring our being combined with Canada and Mexico and from now on you're no longer an American. You're a CanAmMexican?

Like I said, Switzerland is irrelevant because even though they don't have enough eyes on their leaders to keep them from becoming dictators, the only reason this isn't happening is because we are protecting them from Russia.

That's only one country though. It's not good to base your entire argument on one country.

credible proof needed. what was the last time someone tried to invade Switzerland?

That's just one country. You're overgeneralizing based on one cherry picked example, unlike myself.

Like I said, China and the USSR are only two rare exceptions. It's annoying when someone makes an assertion based on nothing except anecdotal and hypothetical evidence.

I know you are just playing games but due to me being bored at the moment I will play along.
So how about New Zealand Sweden or Denmark. All small countries all very free. While places like Pakistan Congo or Nigeria. All larger countries all much less free.

They are only free because even though they don't have enough eyes on their leaders to prevent them from becoming dictators, this doesn't happen because we are protecting them from Russia.

Says the intolerant liberal. Lets all just "go along".

Russia, another large country, has never been free.

The larger Germany grew the more autocratic it became. The same goes for France and arguably Italy as well.

Your hypothesis simply doesn’t hold up to even mild testing.

Why not just combine all the countries into one world government? Everyone will sing Kumbaya, and unicorns will fart rainbows 24/7.

The idea doesn't even make any sense. The smaller the country, the easier it is to keep an eye on their leader. If its too big, its difficult to keep an eye on their leaders.

Dude....do you even logic?

You ever notice how conservatives, the least civil and most oppressive people on earth, whine about incivility and then respond with nothing except insults? If the argument is so weak, why not explain why with empirical data? Because you have no facts that contradict my factual argument.

Do you have links to the data that backs up your 'factual' argument?

It was a young kid playing with an idealistic design but your right. His idea involves war and convincing people it's in their best interests to unite.

Russia is the biggest country in the world by area; China by population. Neither are free.

It's difficult to take an argument seriously when the first statement calls America a country.
