Why do most white evangelicals vote Republican?

White evangelical Christians voted overwhelmingly for Trump* in the 2016 election. They did this despite the fact that

• Trump routinely commits all seven deadly sins: Lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride;
• Jesus never once condemned abortion or homosexuality;
• The entire Bible never condemns abortion, at worst it's far less of a crime than murder;
• In fact, babies under a month old may not even count as people;
• Jesus came down hard on the rich;
• And on arrogant religious leaders, including those who arrogantly pray in public (plus another dig at the rich);
• He may have even suggested that gender confirmation surgery is acceptable

Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Why do these "Christians" vote against just about everything Jesus stood for?

The bible certainly condones "very fine people's" point of view: Genocide, Racism, Rape, Murder, Ignorance, Slavery.

So it's not like it's a big leap for a Fundamental Christian (or a Fundamental Muslim). There's a long tradition of it.

This is actually an interesting question, but it presumes that Jesus would be a Democrat or liberal or progressive if He were around today.

Libertarian seems more like it, or maybe Green?
