Why Americans don't do anything about mass shootings[W:465]

LOL, yeah but the "developed" world didn't allow its citizens to own guns for three hundred years and THEN say "sorry, we didn't mean it, please give your guns back", did they?

What the what? LOL

What the what? LOL
Compare our history with that of your beloved "developed world" We won our freedom in large part due to private citizens owning weapons and fighting the Brits, we expanded westward and settled, again with the help of firearms; from our very first days having fire arms in the house was a common occurrence. And, most importantly the right to do so was imbedded in the very document that made us a nation.

That's fascinating. It is not an excuse to continue the parade of little coffins due to gun violence in this country. Time to do what works

"We should not work towards fewer gun homicides....because.....Red Coats and Indians"

That is so....18th century.

I have no need to deny what is irrelevant to the discussion.

You have no need to do anything....because your argument has been soundly defeated already. LOL

Only if it works in OUR society and culture. And only if we're not already doing it which in most cases we are. "It works in Lichtenstein" is not a valid argument.

Good thing I did not use that argument. But if ANYTHING else worked in every other developed country we would all be clamoring to do it. In the US we will not lift a finger off our guns to try to save our kids lives. It is disgusting

Um, our "culture" isn't in the 18th century any longer, and the majority right now want common sense laws already discussed.

I don't think you have a grasp on reality. Tell us "what would work", now realize this, there are already 300 million firearms in the hand of citizens in the Unites States, some are registered and some are not. Just what are you going to enact that doesn't violate my rights and just how are you going to enforce it. Enacting new laws isn't going to accomplish anything, laws are only for those who are going to abide by them. Are we going to imprison 150 million Americans because they have fire arms. Are we going to have "thought police" that arrest people because they own a fire arm and might go insane and shoot up a school. Come up with something sensible instead of the broad idea of doing something that works.

How about you tell me what will work. I have laid out my plan many many times. What is your plan to reduce the gun violence in this country THAT HAS A PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS.

All I hear of your plan is:

Expanded thoughts and prayers

The rest of the world HAS figured out the deep rooted problem. It is gun control. No country on earth with low gun deaths has been able to do it without effective gun control. Not a single one. How can people not see this?

Is it? Explain to me why in the era of no gun control, 1900-1970 there were only 28 mass shootings with 17 of them occurring during the Al Capone gangster era. Then came the era of gun control 1070 through today. Gun control works right, then why has mass shootings increased five times over than of the no gun control era? From 28 to over 150 during gun control from 1970 through today?

If one utilizes common sense, one would think if gun control was the answer there would be a lot less, not five times more. No, the problem lies within our society. not with one inanimate object. Something has to motivate, get that someone off his butt to go out and kill a bunch of people. I don't think a inanimate object can do that. I may be wrong, but since when has any non-human or breathing object forced or motivated someone to do something.

There are millions of more guns in this country than there were in 1970.

Name a country with our lax gun laws that has fixed this "society" problem and now has low gun deaths. Your plan is a fantasy.

You are making the same points that I keep on trying to make.

The "MORE Guns/FEWER Guns" debate is like arguing on whether "putting a band aid on a bleeding left hand" or "putting a band aid on a bleeding right foot" is the correct treatment for a "sucking chest wound".

Exactly. I used a different metaphor, but exactly the same theme. If someone wants to kill, they'll find a way.

yaaaawwwwnnnn. got any more vapid clichés on your list?

You ignore the numbers. If gun control worked, there would be far fewer mass shootings today than in the era of no gun control. If you leave the underlying problem alone, banning all guns, you probably wouldn't have mass shootings, you'd have mass killings. A gun is nothing more than a tool. A tool that can be used like a gas can and a match, a pipe bomb, home brewed chemicals. all easily done. Leave the motivation behind, to stay and rot, soon we have an epidemic of some type of other mass killings.

You're clamoring day in and day out, but all you clamor for is for us to "be more like other developed countries". Well we ARE. With the exception of actually allowing our citizens to own guns, he have those "common sense" laws.

Except that every country with effective gun control does not have that problem to a large extent. So theres that
