France and allies forced Germany to pay reparations for WWI. This trashed the German economy and let to hard economic times. The hard economic times led to the rise of the communists in Germany. People who didn't want the communists to come into power looked around for someone to stop the communists. Hitler said he'd stop the communists, and he did. The rest you know.

WWII officially started 80 years ago when Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, in direct violation of the Treaty of Versailles that Germany was forced to sign in the wake of WW1. That treaty, among other things, forbade Germany from annexing other countries. In a world already shaken by the invasion of Japan into China in 1937, most of Europe and U.K. all the British Commonwealth countries, followed by most of Europe, several Asian and north African nations, and finally the USA declared war on Germany and, by default, on Japan, Italy, and any countries allied with them.

The Ukrainian-Soviet War had literally zero to do with World War Two. Nor did the invasion of Georgia, for that matter. World War Two started with the Nazi invasion of Poland in Europe and the Second Sino-Japanese War in Asia.

The Nazis invaded first; the Soviets only invaded once it became obvious the Poles were doomed.

On his own Stalin would not have attacked. It took the German invasion to get him to try and to over as much of Eastern Europe as he could.

Yes, the Soviets crushed many breakaway groups after the Russian civil war. Trying to call that “the start of world war 2” is moronic.
