Who is Hot for Black Panther?

Just to let him know, so maybe he could use another source in time for me to see it. So I didn't have to end that shift and go home, then respond after half the day had passed.

Politically correct in the making, politically correct in the telling, gobs of money spent, lots of claims that it is well done.....

I watched the trailers...maybe it is great.

Maybe not.

I saw it opening weekend and thought it was good. Not the best Marvel movie, but probably in my top 5. Top 10 for sure.

First of all, the suit.. crap just comes out of nowhere with barely any explanation. Which in most cases, that would be fine because (its ****ing marvel) but this almost takes it to new levels of absurd.

Bland characters, if I didn't know his name from the comics already. I would be hard pressed to actually remember anything about the prince, besides him becoming the new king and the antagonist of the movie is hardly better. Other then having more a presence on screen, he is just the usual (Its my time, mine.. mine.. mine) jackass that we keep seeing. In my opinion Ultron was far better of a character.

The movie also suffers from AVP syndrome, as some of the fights can be too close and too fast for you to enjoy.

Edit*
In all retrospect, its not a bad movie. Its just that all of the love I've seen it getting is simply outweighed by how lack luster it was.

This is a topic that slightly triggers me, because we can easily see what kind of message was being interpreted here and if the recent SJW slant to some of my favorite comics is only part of where we are headed. Then I would rather just not watch anything from Marvel for the next few years.

SJW

Stan Lee has always been a SJW. If you knew anything about him, you'd know that. Its not a slant, it's what he and Marvel have always been about. So you might want to either get used to seeing it, or not go to anymore Marvel movies. God forbid you read any of the comics these days, your head will explode.

I mean, how could you read something like X-Men and not get that? Spider-Man? Powerman? Black Panther? In the 60's and 70s, a lot of the stuff in the comics was definitely groundbreaking.

BTW, box office as of today:

Black Panther (2018) - Box Office Mojo

Over $700 million worldwide, with over $400 million in the US alone. Guess people respond to that PC/SJW stuff more than some of you might like. ;)

Too close, too dark, too fast, too many cuts and so much CGI in the action. The fight when they were falling reminded me of the Gumbi-esque Neo vs Agent Smith fight in the Matrix Reloaded.

I like my fight scenes far enough back so you can see the action (Bruce Lee style), clear and in one take.

It wasn't "politically correct in the making" it's literally just a comic book adaptation like every other Marvel movie.

It was great. Packed 9AM theater.....lots of cheering happy people.

Politically correct? How so?

If it has black people in it, it is politically correct. Black people can't be actors without special help from the white man.

Loved the movie but dang it got the closet racists out. Comments like "could never happen in Africa" and worse were spoken by a few people after the showing here.

Seriously? Where do you live? Oops sorry, Denmark. Just saw that.

Sorry to hear you've got jerks in your country too.

Yep. It's pretty clear who hasn't read the comics. They've been around for decades. But for some, like our OP, it must seem like they just materialized.

I saw it two nights ago because it was the wife's turn to pick date night activities.

It was very well made, very well acted, clever in many ways, but I just don't give a rip about superhero movies.

I almost never go to the movies (I prefer other types of entertainment) and have NEVER heard a movie so consistently LOUD.

Actually it was in Spain, and from the accents of the people in question I suspect they were British. But they were also half of the "empire is glorious" age.. aka 60+, which basically means conservative as hell.

I worked with Brit expats around my age, and the vast majority of them still believe the world revolves around England. I think its taught that way in their schools.

No... they like good movies. This one was IMO. I don't give a **** about the message I just want to be entertained. I suspect most people think similarly.

Ugh, very unfortunate indeed.

I agree. That was my whole point. Apparently the OP thinks otherwise.

I have not seen it. I was not aware it was even coming out until it did and all my black and WLG friends started raving about it on Facebook. But then I'm not much of a movie person to begin with. I still haven't seen the most recent Star wars yet, either, and that's normally right up my alley.

Seeing as this movie possessed probably one of the most racist scenes I have seen in cinema since American History X. Not to mention it takes place in the land of Wakanda, a city state that runs policies the likes of which would make a White nationalist like Richard Spencer cream himself with joy.

It has also started witch hunts for people that even dared to give it a slightly negative review.

This PC/SJW culture is ruining the franchise, along with several of is most memorable characters. This is practically evident when Marvel is forced to cancel more politically correct comics, due to abysmal sales.

It is a cancer plain and simple.

Also, not to nitpick.

Why did he have the car?
We could see in civil war that he could catch up to a vehicle on his own two damn legs?

Yes the CGI was horrendous as well.
