You got red herringed by the amount of money. It's a common trick. Put anything in rich people numbers and suddenly it's outrageous. Rugs, vases, cars, lawsuits, you name it. Throw a couple zeros on there and the average Joe will respond "what the hell?!"

You need to first put the number in perspective. For a rich person, it's nothing. You can't view this from our perspective in regard to the money. That's the intention of the bigots behind this rhetoric.

It comes down to investing in personal growth. Could be fishing lessons. Could be history lessons. Could be shooting lessons or astrophysics. But if it's social awareness... I'd imagine quite a few Americans- not just rich ones- could do with a little (a lot) of cultural awareness. One example is the difference in my attitude when a cop lights my up driving and my bud's. He is very careful about speed and use of turn signals and asks to reach for his wallet....

Many cops have had "unpleasant" encounters with defiant and violent young gentlemen.
