White House struggles to contain Ukraine fallout | TheHill

The White House is struggling to contain the fallout from President Trump’s calls for foreign governments to look into matters related to the 2016 election and one of his chief political rivals.

Days after news reports of the initial story, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had thrown her support behind an impeachment inquiry.

The combination of the reconstructed transcript of his phone call to the President of Ukraine together with his public calls for China to investigate the Bidens has just added fuel to the impeachment fire.

Don't you think Trump WANTS the impeachment vote? Odds are that by now he sees impeachment as his only possible opportunity to tell his side of the story. God only knows that nobody in the press will so much as recognize that there COULD be a side to all this that doesn't begin and end with Schiff.

This whole damned thing falls right in line with the Mueller investigation, Kavanaugh and Cohen. It's 24/7 "This is the one!" based on scant facts and wildly misconstrued interpretation of the law. This time, however, it looks like Democrats are going to pull the trigger. All I can say is God bless 'em.

Nobody is stopping Trump from telling 'his side of the story'. He has the largest microphone in the world and if he wants to explain his traitorous behavior then I say go for it.

He could have told his side of the story by allowing Congress to conduct their investigations without using intimidation on witnesses and ordering people not to testify and refusing to provide documents under subpoena.

Typical missinformation ploy by the progressive media. I read the article and saw no examples of them strugglining with anything.
From the article
The President did nothing wrong and we have been transparent throughout this entire process.*There is not a lot of messaging or coordination to be had around those simple facts,” White House press secretary*Stephanie Grisham*told The Hill in an emailed statement, pushing back at such arguments.*

What struggle and what fall out are they talking about? Trumps approval ratings are growing. Apparently the hill feels threatened by trumps response and feels the need to mischaracterize it in their op-ed piece.

I still say this is all posturing for 2020 and they wont call an impeachment vote.

Its curious to me that progressives see a problem with a republican president using the authority of his office to dig up dirt on a political rival but see no problem with democrats in congress using the authority of their office to dig up dirt on their political rivals.

He told his side of the story: he wants Ukraine to investigate the Bidens. Did you not see the video from the WH lawn?

So that's what you're going with? Trump wants to be impeached? Great candidate you have there.

Odds are that by now he sees impeachment as his only possible opportunity to tell his side of the story.
He gets aske simple yes/no questions and then spends 10 minutes in his rambling narrative bashing everyone from Nancy to the whistle-blower, Hillary, a little Obama, Biden, Democrats, Schiff, etc.
And on the next short quesiton, he does it again. And again. And he tweets nonstop. And Hannity and Rush push his stuff 24/7.

But you think his concern is he's not getting his message out? LOL.

God only knows that nobody in the press will so much as recognize that there COULD be a side to all this that doesn't begin and end with Schiff.
Like the facts we already have along with Trump's admission of it?
And Rudy's admission and obvious involvement?

LOL

Hell, did Trump just fess up to doing the same China because his story wasn't getting out fast enough? Thanks Trump.

There's nothing to contain. The wheels are falling off the impeachment wagon like the Donner Party...lol!

Do you want the Bidens investigated?

His lawyers get to cross examine witnesses; call their own witnesses; examine evidence. There isn't going to be an impeachment vote...lol

We already know his side of the story: the whistleblower is a partisan hack, and that's why the phone readout he released to the public never happened and the last month of our memories were implanted by Space Jews. And Crowdstrike!

Or something.

'Digging up dirt' on a political opponent is normal, it's done, period. There's nothing wrong with it as long as it's legitimate and not illegal. ASKING a foreign country like Ukraine who is in absolutely dire straights right now repelling Russia's intrusions into Ukraine and at the same time trying very hard to become a wholly democratic country, to interfere with our US election and insist they do before giving them aid is nothing less than extortion.

Even suggesting that China should interfere and investigate the Biden's is over the top unlawful. China is an oppressive COMMUNIST country that's committing crimes against their own people simply because their own people want DEMOCRACY. Here's the President of United States trying to coerce China, a Communist country and Ukraine which is a weakened country under siege from a super-power -- struggling to maintain a democratic government, to commit crimes for Trump.

This is disgusting and the sooner this racketeer is exposed the better.

What about congress trying to suponea Trumps tax records?

Then, why are you pissin-n-moanin about them being investigated?

I'm not. But I also realize that a president using the power of his office to push for the investigation of a potential political rival by a foreign country is an abuse of power. If Trump was a private citizen that would still be bad, but it would not be an abuse of elected office.

It's the same reason the emoluments clause exists. We do not want foreigners trying to curry favor with elected officials in return for some type of assistance. It is well understood without outright statements that doing a personal favor for Trump could result in favorable treatment that only a president can provide.

LOL So the President needs help to tell "his side of the story"? What exactly is being "misconstrued". That Biden is a political opponent? Or that seeking foreign help in an election is illegal?

"what about -- what about". Focus.

He should FREELY, GLADLY and WILLINGLY disclose five years of his tax returns if he has nothing to hide, PERIOD

“Space Jews”? Of course Jews have to be brought into it.

Obama did it. You didn't have a problem, then.

Trump will be trumpeting the Space Jew theory soon enough. It actually makes more sense than his "I didn't say the thing that I said in the phone readout" story.

Oh, and

Yes, what about....
Is it wrong for the democrats to use the authority of thier office to dig up dirt on their political rivals?

You claim to be very upset with Trump for using the authority of his office to dig up dirt on a potential political rival. Im asking you if you also condemn congressional democrats for doing it.

Instead of answering the question you went back to your Trump tirade. We have already established your opinion about what Trump did. Trump is a bad bad man who must be stopped seems to be the gist of your position but does that mean at all costs?

Is it OK with you the way the Democrats are abusing their authority in order to usurp his presidency. On the surface thats exactly how it looks to me but im open to hearing an alternate explination if you have one.
