What's the appeal of Trader Joes?

Is this gonna get it out of our system? Or are we in a new Idiocracy paradigm.
Well, there is some good news. Historically, Americans like to change President types during elections after a given President's run. We tend to switch parties and ideologies. I just hope this occurs next year!

That's only after two terms. The upcoming vote will decide if we've shaken it off or we're going into ICU.

Have you tried the Heinz Organic Ketchup? I notice a distinct difference.

I also notice my organic lettuce has a longer shell-life. In fact, the longer shelf-life is one of my prime motivators in buying organic lettuce. My packaged brand grown locally, sometimes has a full two-week "sell buy" date! It's rarely less than 10 days. That's phenomenal. And I can pretty much get that when it's in my Fridge. I was blown away by that, as my mass marketed lettuce never lasts that long. Besides, the taste & texture is great!

I honestly think its some sort of placebo effect. When people know theyre eating organic, it suddenly tastes better because their mind is telling them that. I bet on a blind taste test no one will be able to tell the difference.

From what Ive experienced, there's more bugs in organic veggies than there is in chemically treated ones, so I think I'll take the latter, thanks.

I'm hoping this is just the usual waxing & waining of our republic. There's always been pendulumatic shifts, to and fro.

Regardless, it is chilling.

Fair enough. But do me a favor. Pickup a bottle of the Heinz organic the next time you're in a supermarket, and compare it to the stuff you've got at home. See if I'm wrong, in at least this instance.

I'm not even trying to put the blame all on Trump supporters or Republicans. It's playground hysteria lately and if it's gonna stay this way then I've aged past expiration.

OK, though I bet the taste is different because they put more sugar into the organic bottle than they did with the normal stuff.

Organic certification includes processing. From seed to shelf. It doesn't use industrial preservatives, opting instead for natural options. Makes all the difference in the world. It's not merely salt paste. It kinda tastes like tomato and it doesn't have that corn syrup consistency.

So its less tasty than the regular stuff. Got it.

That's trolling.

Anyway, way more flavor and way less industrial red salt paste. It's not the organic tomatoes that make the difference, it's the processing.

We were there a while back and I was not impressed with it, but people are all gaga over it. I don't get it.
TJ's is the only place where I've found this crazy, creamy, rich ice cream Double Rainbow is the brand iirc.
The best ice cream I've had.
They also had these huge chunks of chocolate by the pound ... Godiva or Ghiradeli maybe?
TJs carried a number of items which were great and at a reasonable cost.

I live far from any TJs now.
It's been more than a decade since I've been in a TJs
But we have an Aldis.

Organic products offer a number of benefits to the consumer as well as the land. For example, organic eggs have 80% less cholesterol. That can matter to someone's health in a real and immediate way. I wont even get into all of the ecological benefits. It reduces our dependence on fossil fuels and allows us to survive on domestic fuel production.

People often substitute total ignorance for education.

Just you

Organic eggs have the same nutritional content, fat or cholesterol as regular eggs.

Just do it! :2razz:

When it comes to staples (meat, dairy, produce, booze), Trader Joe's tends to be slightly less expensive than the big regional chain supermarket, and usually the quality is a little better. (The best quality is generally at Whole Foods, but of course that costs much more.)

Blue Bell > Any Ice Cream!

Blue Bell > Any Ice Cream!
Blue Bell is good.

I won't argue that.

And the differences among the top tier ice creams are rather small — much like the differences between top-tiered most anything else.
But, I'm telling ya, I've never had anything so wonderfully rich and creamy.

I didn't realize until today that it's been so long since I had any.
I hope they haven't changed their recipe or process.
One day, I'll find some again.

Well, considering how sick ice cream makes me, a pint lasts weeks now.

Does non-animal ice cream do the same? Ben and Jerry's makes some great coconut milk ice creams, a few flavors (no dairy).

Glad your ice cream supply has been extended.

It's the sugar. Gastric Sleeve makes one highly susceptible to dumping syndrome.
Dumping Syndrome After Bariatric Surgery - Celebrate
You just had few bites of ice cream because you were at a birthday party and saying no was just not an option this time. About 45 minutes after eating the ice cream, you start to feel dizzy, a bit disorientated, and panic starts to take over your mind and body. Then you begin to sweat profusely and your hair and shirt become completely soaked. Your skin is glistening and sweat is dripping on the floor. During this state of sweaty panic, you feel like you’ve lost your mind. The state of distress is so severe that you’re not sure what to do next: lie down, start pacing, sip some water, or eat something really quick. What could possibly have happened to you? Is this what dumping feels like? Although each person experiences dumping syndrome differently, here are the basics.

I'm guessing that relegates you to diabetic or low sugar ice cream. What a horrible fate. And I thought waiting for mainstream non-dairy ice cream was a tough fate.

God, that sucks. It really sucks. I'd like to sugarcoat it for you, but... you know.

I'm not as sensitive as some people I've talked to in support groups. But when it does hit, it SUCCCKS

It's... your blood sugar spikes, your intestines get undigested food... I generally just find somewhere to PTFO till it is done.
