I agree it's a crazy idea. She's not qualified. But it would electrify his campaign. It would assure his victory.

Think about it. What another VP choice would really make a substantial difference? He mentioned Stacy Abrams and Kamala Harris or Sally Yates. None of them will make an ounce of difference.

Haha. That would definitely energize the base but she's far too unqualified.

Michelle Obama is a Harvard educated lawyer who spent 8 years at the White House with her husband. VP picks have no effect on the campaign. Michelle would have a huge effect.

It is like the Sarah Palin pick where McCain hoped to energize his base. But Sarah Palin was just plain dumb. If she had been smart it would have been a great pick for him. Michelle Obama is smart. Huge difference.

Biden would be a lock to win if he made this choice. But of course, I doubt Michelle would accept.

It would be seen as a clowinsh publicity stunt, reek of desperation, and I cant imagine even rational thinking democrats would support it.

So heres the thing. Ive always said Stacey Abrams was the smart pick for most democrat candidates. But...heres the thing. By all appearances, Biden has the support of a good number of black voters. So he doesnt 'need' a black American or a woman. He might be better served now with an Hispanic VP choice or a VP that will deliver a critical state.

VP choices never really make a difference. When was the last time a VP (who won) got people excited or drew out of party votes? It’s pretty much always someone from the other side of the party to help sure up turnout for the base.

Oprah = Horrible idea

Michelle = Not happening

:shrug:

Why would Michelle be "not qualified"? I agree she would not be a good choice, but I'd say she is just as qualified as anyone else who has ever been a VP candidate.

Tony Evers, the democratic governor of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is said to be a swing state and Tony might bring Wisconsin into the Biden camp.

Michelle Obama can't do anything Biden can't do.

It would be a great choice but I have not noticed her hat in the ring as of yet.

Intriguing, but not realistic.

This isn't a game. Trump has to go, so the Democrat VP choice will be important.

I can handle a marijuana reformer more than a Biden drug war soldier.

Again, she's a Harvard educated attorney with 8 years in the White House. It's not clownish.

The real question is: Would it get him more votes? I think it would fully energize the Black community.

Obama is still the biggest star in the Democratic party. Biden is only successful now because he was the VP. So, why not double down on Obama and have Michelle be the VP.

You're right that you want a VP to deliver you states and votes, but that never works.

Regardless, Biden has to pick a woman. So he can't choose Julian Castro. And I can't think of a well-known Hispanic woman other than *gasp* AOC.

She would say no. Joe won't win, but if he wanted to up his odds, he would go with someone dynamic, articulate and outside the beltway.

This can't happen. Biden can't double down on old white guy. It has to be a woman after Hillary failed to break the glass ceiling. There's no way around that.

Oh come on. The very fact that its mentioned is clownish. Its novelty. Stop.

All the knuckle dragging racists would have a field day comparing her to various animals and making complete idiots out of themselves...as usual.

Only that she has never held elected office. By that measure, Trump is not qualified either and it shows. His presidency is a disaster.

Again, I don't think she is a good choice, but never holding an elected office isn't a qualification, as far as I know.

Besides, we are talking about the VP here...not the President.

Or...do you think that Michelle would actually be running Biden's presidency? shrug... Who knows? You might be right?

I don't consider either Obama to be the brightest bulbs in the chandelier, but I doubt Michelle is dumb enough to want to play second fiddle on a losing ticket.

Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law. His wife also graduated from Harvard Law. But they're not bright according to you? lol

What are your intellectual/academic accomplishments?

If you polled voters walking into a precinct to vote, half would have no idea who the VP candidate was and quite a few would not be aware they would be picking a VP.

IMO choice of VP is meaningless.

Not always. JFK picking LBJ was important. And McCain picking Palin was a disaster. Hillary not picking Sanders probably cost her the election.

Sarah Palin was not unknown.
