In case your head has been under a rock for the past month, people have been calling for the tearing down of certain statues for past actions.

A week ago, Mississippi finally voted to change its flag due to having a confederate symbol (of the army of northern Virginia to be exact) on the upper left hand corner. A few years ago, there was a movement to take down confederate statues and the confederate flag (which was never the national flag but rather of the Confederate navy). On the other hand, the flag of Georgia heavily resembles the original flag but with an emblem inside of the circle of stars, yet it's not nearly as controversial.

This time around, it has gone beyond confederate symbolism and affected the statues of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, and Winston Churchill. Taking down the statue of Lincoln seems like an odd choice, considering that he freed the slaves. The complaint is that it seems like the slave is kneeling before Lincoln but it was depicting the slave getting up. They've also gone after statues of Jefferson because he was a slaveowner, despite his actual viewpoints on slavery. They went after Teddy Roosevelt despite being the first president to invite a black guy to the white house because he was pro eugenics. Churchill is often criticized for his mistreatment of the natives of British Colonies.

Confederate Flags should be taken down from all tax paying institutions forever and held in disgust and disdain like the Nazi Swastika Flag. .. and Confederate Statues should be safely removed from all public spaces and put into a museum for historical purposes.

EX.webp All of them with the exception of Abraham Lincoln

I have proposed that a lake be dug and filled with maple syrup to be named Lake Jemima. modern confederates will drown themselves in it, and then we will honor them by sinking confederate statues. the high sugar content of Lake Jemima will preserve both the statues and the confederates for posterity, and divers six hundred years from now will enjoy exploring its depths to wonder what the **** all of these idiots were doing.

Personally, I think it's a wonderful thing to recognize that a lot of the crap you learned about history in school was written by liars and con-men. Reminds me of the corporate so-called singers nowadays. Christopher Columbus should have been sent to a dungeon for what he and his men did.

I don't think the confederate flag should be flying on any government property. I personally don't like it flying on any public properties. Private property can do what ever they want. A flag represents a nation and its people. I do not want the confederate flag representing my country or me.

Monuments on government or public property are a different thing all together. A monument is a large structure, usually made of stone, which is built to remind people of an event in history or of a famous person. Statue is a representation usually of a person from history. I want to remember the good as well as the bad. I think they should stay. I would like to see more added not taken down out of ignorance and hate. Every person on this earth has done wrong. Almost every slave brought to this country was captured and sold by Black people. That is just the tip of the iceberg to say the least. We cannot erase all of history because millions if not billions of bad people from ever race and country have done wrong since the dawn of time. Tearing them down is wrong. How they are portrayed is another thing.

It's all gotta go. Nothing less than a total erasure of United States history prior to the year 2020, which will be known as year 0.

anonymous polls? confederate flag shouldn't fly over any federal property.

The lady known as Aunt Jemima was a self made millionaire and a testament to a woman who was born a slave and through her own hard work, ambition and perseverance, died much richer than many former slave owners. She should be a proud symbol for America.

we need to think of the divers 600 years from now. their confederate fourth of July needs to be special, and only we can do that for them.

divers? you ever do much scuba diving?

We should take down all the crosses -- they are, after all, a symbols of a means to torture and murder people.

You are going to have to hire a lot of illegal aliens with ropes and chisels to get Stone Mountain eradicated.

At no time should the US ever memorialize traitors. Nor should any military base be named after traitors. Fort Arnold was changed to Fort Clinton after General Benedict Arnold's treason became known, and there are no statutes constructed of Gen. Arnold, or schools or other institutions named after him. The same should apply to every traitor of the US, not just the Confederate traitors.

None of the statues should be torn down or defaced illegally. That is called a riot and the scum needs be put down with force. There is a lawful and peaceful means of disposing of unwanted statues, or the renaming of institutions, without committing acts of terrorism.

I voted to see the Confederate battle flag and the Confederate monuments go away.
If that is what it is going to take to shut the whiny pie holes of the snowflake radicals we have in this country, then so be it.
I have no attachment to the flag or the rebel statues.
My concern is that there are so many idiot protestors who don't know sh!t about American History, they will blindly go after legitimate American heroes and Abolitionists because they are simply statues.

Why didn't this happen during the Obama Administration when those BLM and idiot snowflakes had years to focus on statues and the Confederate flag?

And next we need to burn all the unacceptable books.

And then we need to ban the viewing of any movie that contains images of Confederate uniforms and the Confederate battle flag. This has to be done because we certainly don't any curious kid growing up thinking that we somehow approve of those disgusting symbols that have been around for over 150 years.

Because Trump wasn't running for reelection. That is the only reason why the Democratic Party has deployed the BLM and ANTIFA terrorist organizations.

There will always be history written by liars and con men.
It's up to every thinking individual to read, learn, and then decide for himself/herself as to what is true and what it propaganda.
That is not a job of the government, the BLM terrorists, Liberal professors, or flaky, spineless, snowflakes who will ban people from coming on college campuses with different ideas.
