Politically, the south most certainly rose again since Obama was elected. Consider that the 14 southern states went 170-13 for trump. The GOP has a 23-5 senate edge in the 14 southern states; a 113-42 edge in the house; all 28 state legislative chambers; and 10 of 14 governors.

It actually gets worse in the 13 plains and mountain west states; the GOP has now made serious inroads into the 8 Midwest states; all the DEMs have left are the 5 far west and 10 northeast states ;

One of the major differences between the 1860's and now, is that GOP'ers like me want us ALL to rise together this time. No race, just folks. No religion, just Americans. No other labels or anything else that does nothing but divide us. Just people of all religions, races, sexual identities, sexes, income levels, and cultural backgrounds working, playing, and living life together within the Unique American Culture to make our country as a whole the true home of individual freedom and personal liberty.

Of course, there are those in both the GOP and the Democratic Party that work hard against that.

Folks like you and I need to continue to span that breach and not let them break our bond. We don't have to agree on everything, we just have to be able to keep talking, and respect the other's opinions and thoughts.

BTW, I don't think it was Obama specifically, although he was the banner bearer for the Democrats, but rather it was the eight years of DC telling folks that they were too stupid to know what's best for them, and that if you didn't agree with them you were a racist, misogynist, xenophobist, islamiphobist, (add your own -ist term here), until the combination of 'big brother' telling them what they had to do and what they couldn't do, added with the constant slapdown by the left got many folks off their butts and to the polls to vote against what they saw as what was against them personally. Once the Democrats made it personal, they inadvertently mobilized the normally docile and sedentary people and the election results are the proof.

I spent some time with my father's family in Nashville,Tennessee and I heard that exact statement many times.I also saw water fountains with signs saying: 'White only'.

You are out of touch with reality.

The experiences you had with water fountains 50 or so years ago has no bearing on what is happening now. That was two generations ago, and the more generations we get away from that time, the less it has any influence at all on the newer younger generations that only know integration and equal rights.

No one wants to go back to segregation with 'Whites Only' signs, except maybe blacks in certain circumstances like schools and housing. Groups like BLM even want even more segregation like only black officers patrolling black neighborhoods.

That's not wanting "the South to rise again." That's the complete juxtaposition of 'The South Rising Again.' It's more like the US imploding upon itself.

That's the reality.

You are out of touch with reality.Segregation happened and some far-right White Supremacists would like to bring it back.

But what's going to happen is that in about 50 years non-Hispanic Whites are going to be a minority of the USA's population.

"No one can stop time and/or change."

Deal with it.

If you honestly feel that a very few (probably less than 100-200 people nationwide) represent the entire white race in the South, then there's nothing more that I can do to educate you on what's real and what isn't.

Deal with it? There's nothing for me to deal with.

What's sad here is that Beaudreaux is talking about inclusion. And all that you're concerned with is that ole' whitey will be a minority in 50 years. Only ones that actually care about that are racists.

I did not know Robert Lee even had a statue. Especially considering he is from England.

Good for him.

I thought he did a great job as narrator for Mythbusters.

But why they are taking it down is beyond me.

Anyone who is opposed to segregationists and people like Jared Taylor who promote White Supremacy should speak out against them.

"Better day's are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time,GOP.

Unfortunately there are still lots of racists like Jared Taylor and people like you who ignore them in the USA.

In time they'll all be gone.No one lives forever.

Yet I'm not the one that apparently just can't wait for ole' whitey to become a minority. So much so that I disregard a message about inclusiveness in order to talk about it. You're the one doing that. Your comments in response to a message of inclusiveness shows racism, which since I am speaking out against it, shows that I'm not "ignoring" racists.

I was born and raised on a farm and I know the difference between peanut butter and the bull manure that you're spreading here.

Have a nice millisecond.

These statues should be shoved up the asses of the members of the City Council, Landrieu, and every other nincompoop Progressive in America. Monthly.
So I voted "Other" :)

I believe they are simply in storage right now.

Why such limited choices?

They should be preserved as a part of history. Maybe placed in a museum.

I voted OTHER; why?

these monuments should be put right back where they were removed from, period.

If you smelled manure it was because you were standing hip deep in it. You got exposed and now you're trying to run from it.

You also have a good millisecond. ;)

I think that decision should be put up to a vote by the citizens of New Orleans. They should be able to vote to destroy them, sell them to a 3rd party, put them back up, put them in a museum, relocate them to another public area or store them forever or store them for future use .

I smelled manure because you're spreading it on this forum.

Any White Supremacists who want to put up more icons will have to find a different location for them.

The people in New Orleans who are mostly Black people Don't want any more of them.

Deal with it.

Come back when you can spend less time with us.

What the hell does that have to do with anything I've said? Are you calling me a white supremacist or accusing me of supporting white supremacists? Show me where I have done anything even close to what you suggest in your post. Just one example. I condemn any group that shows hatred toward others for any reason, including white supremacists, BLM, ISIS, and even posts like I've seen in this thread like a few of the ones you've been posting to me.

BTW, I had to look up Jared Taylor. Memorizing white supremacists' names is not one of my hobbies, is it one of yours?

I like the museum idea. Out door museum / park if needed.
Add some to the Smithsonian grounds in DC.
Be seen by a lot of people.

Close to half of the people living in Washington,D.C. are Black Americans. Few of them will waste their time looking at monuments that were made to honor men who fought to keep their ancestors in slavery.Think about this a little bit.

No,but I keep up with the news and Jared Taylor has been in the news recently. His ideas will be going nowhere in the USA

And they are free not to go to the museum if they don't wish. Plenty of holocaust material as well and I have no problem with it. (I'm Jewish and my grandparents came from the Polish / Russian border area I believe). In fact most of the people who visit the Smithsonian and other museums and monuments in DC are tourists. I was there a few years ago and am going at the end of the month. While my wife is attending conferences I will be sight seeing. Should be fun. Some bar hopping and casino gambling will also be in the itinerary.

To destroy them all would be wrong IMO if any of them were made by famous artists, to keep them all in storage is not an option, displaying some in a museum is an option IMHO that should be investigated and maybe they can be used sold to private buyers to keep on private land and all that do not have any function or are of no particular artistic or historic value, maybe they can be scrapped and made into a more positive message about the civil war.

I have no doubt that they will not be put back. Not for a few generations anyway. Also... No one said anything about the "South rising again."

Give the BS rhetoric a break.

We are one country, one people. The quicker the left comes to that conclusion and stops trying to segregate and divide us with their PC BS like hyphenated Americans and tearing down our collective history, then all the better for the country.

Have you ever even thought that the most obvious example of dividing Americans is when you guys divide the term American with a hyphenated qualifier like Black-American, White-American, Hispanic-American, African-America, Mexican-American, etc.??? We're just Americans.

Even those that were part of the Civil War were given a Presidential Pardon and then recognized by an act of Congress to be American veterans.

You'd think after over 150 years, that you folks would be over all that emotional baggage.

Tell your story to the White Supremacists and segregationists in the New Orlean's area who put up all of the monuments which have just been taken down.

The scum who were raising hell about keeping monuments to these traitorous in public eye should have been raising money to purchase them. The city of New Orleans should auction off these testaments to hatred, and if nobody wants to pay an appropriate price they should be destroyed. No need for taxpayers to pay for storage for this trash.

One man's trash is another's gold.
