Considering the political cravenness of most GOP members of Congress and the unwavering support of Republicans in polls, it seems like a fair question. We've all seen supposed leaders of the party like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have their families, wives, and manhood questioned by Trump, only to line up to carry water for him. Even more moderate Republicans such as Will Hurd, a man who is leaving office next year, is apparently so terrified of angering Trump that he is defending him against blatantly corrupt behavior. We see rubes line up at rallies across the nation with their silly red hats to chant the usual inane slogans. And literally nothing the man does seems to matter to any of them.

We are told that law enforcement can do nothing about him.
Special counsels can't even accuse him of wrongdoing, let alone seek indictments.
Any Congressional oversight is blocked and called a coup attempt.

How is it going to end?

Probably like everything else ends with Trump. He'll turn on, and **** on his base if he loses in 2020. He'll fight at 1st, he'll scream voter fraud, etc. But once he's gone, he'll point his finger at his base, call them all sorts of names, and blame them for him losing.

Loooong before he was even president so called loyal, 'friends' and business people of Trump eventually end up on his bad side. Since he's been prez we've seen that MANY times. From Cohen, Comey, to Tillerson, General Kelley, and on and on.

Unless Trump gets 110% loyalty from his yes-men and base he will turn on them. And if he loses that will mean he didn't 110%, so he WILL turn on them.

Of course the reaction from his base will be ' I didn't vote for him in 2016'... lol... Like when Bush 2 got us into a no win war and the economy crashed on his watch all of a sudden no Republicans voted for him.

Sounds like hyperbole to me. I mean, nobody I can imagine would swear such an oath to anybody, let alone swear such an oath and hold themselves to it. Heck, millions of Americans swear an oath to a person they've decided to spend the rest of their life with...and they don't hold themselves to that oath.

Sorry Excast...I have to say that pretty much ZERO percent of the US population would be willing to swear an oath of absolute obedience and loyalty to anybody.

The fact is, you have more hatred for a woman, Hillary Clinton, than respect for our democracy and it's primarily because you've bought every lie that Russia -- yes, Russia, put into your head. The other fact is that Trump has helped them to destroy our country. That's right, I'm raising the white flag and giving up the fight to preserve what our men and women fought and died for in all our wars wars. I'm relinquishing my country to a party that cares nothing about those people that died in wars, or for those people that are fighting the bloodless war to hold onto our democracy. This is not going to end well for any of us and if you think the worse is behind, then you're going to be surprised at what comes next. Once we've given up everything that has held our country intact for over 250 years, we're no longer a free country.

Oh you won't feel it immediately, but you and everyone else in this country will one day wake up and ask yourself 'what the hell have we done?' It's too late then, the clock can't be turned back. This genie can't be stuffed back in the bottle once it's been released. We will never get back all the things we've taken for granted for. After having dealings and personal communications with Volodymyr Zelensky, the newly elected president of Ukraine for many months, I could understand not being able to spell his first name, but geezus, by now you would think he would know the correct spelling of his last name.

It is amazing how many people are so entrenched in the toxins of the Conservative Entertainment Complex that they will happily vote against their own self interest time and time again.

I grew up in rural Maine. Farm country. Not exactly bastions of wealth by any means. It always shocked me how many of the people I grew up with, the exact type of people the Republican Party has utterly abandoned as they seek ever lower taxes for rich people as the solution to all ills, are hardcore conservatives. The right has done absolutely nothing for them and yet they will line up every election to happily vote straight (R).

My father in law worked hard all his life, but he was self employed so he didn't have HI and he didn't save much for his future. He had some serious health problems starting in his mid-50's(he's now in his mid 70's). That's because he still has those safety nets. If he lives long enough, he may see those pulled out from under his feet. It's only at times like that, when freedoms or 'rights' are taken away that people take a step back and see what's been in plain view all the while. Who will he blame then? But that's typical of the Trump cult. They can defend him and excuse his anti-democratic actions as long as it doesn't cost them any more than words. Once they begin to feel the results in their pocketbooks, that's when they'll sit up and take a second look.
