The problem isn't guns, it's what they're used for. There have already been good examples of how law abiding citizens having guns have potentially saved their lives. It's been said before: not allowing law abiding citizens to have guns means that only criminals will have guns. This kind of reminds me of prohibition during Al Capone's time; by not allowing generally law abiding citizens to have something they want (alcohol, drugs, guns), the whole thing basically strengthens the underworld as they will supply what's not legally allowed; at a price, ofcourse.
