These guys are worth reading up on their back story.

This song makes me said. I live in a very rural area and though its not oklahoma, i know the people in this song, i think anyone from a small rural town knows this story. I have daughters, they made it out, went to college, but some of their friends lived this story.

I first sang this song when I was 13-years-old.
50 years later, I'm not ashamed to admit it, I get a little misty.

I doodles around the interwebz and came up with this.

It is playing in the background.

I Never Knew Her Name - Elton John / Backing vocals - Natalie Jackson, Mortonette Jenkins, Marlena Jeter

Love the gospel roots here.

A raw and reflective roots song about the quiet power of letting go — not of the past, but of the shame that came with it.

This is for anyone who walked through hell, made mistakes, and finally found the strength to say it: “I forgive myself.”
