People there don’t watch Fox News to know what to think; they already know what they think, and they avoid news channels that insult their intelligence and core beliefs. Yes, Fox News is an echo chamber for the right, but no more than CNN and MSNBC are for the left, as far as conservatives are concerned. To be fair, when a Democrat is in the White House, the networks switch places, with Fox News criticizing every move, and MSNBC and CNN defending the Oval Office fortress.
But then comes Attorney General William P. Barr, dropping a bombshell last week by declaring during congressional testimony that he thinks “spying did occur” on the Trump campaign in 2016, and that he is looking into it. Democrats and many in the media immediately blasted Barr for carrying Trump’s water. Barr soon clarified his remarks, saying, “I am not saying that improper surveillance occurred. I’m saying that I am concerned about it and looking into it.” Just three weeks ago, before Mueller wrapped up his report, The Post — in a story representative of mainstream sources at the time — produced a mostly flattering profile of the new attorney general. “A Justice Department official told The Washington Post last month that Barr is viewed at the department as ‘a lawyer’s lawyer’ and is seen as less politically minded than his predecessors,” the story noted.

Now, Barr is being cast by the liberal cable channels and others as an unscrupulous political hack attached to the president’s leash. On CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that Barr “may be whitewashing” his summary of the report. Such accusations represent an unlikely turn of events for a 68-year-old professional with an impeccable record and a career more behind him than in front of him.

Yes and no, but that was not what I was getting at.

The WaPo opinion piece is just that, an opinion about how FoxNews has covered this 2 year fiasco against CNN, MSNBC, what have you. The whole thing got much worse the moment Barr released his letter to Congress about the Mueller Report.

FoxNews being "right all along" is just as dubious as CNN, MSNBC, and others assuming the "collusion" accusation all along in reference to Russian Interference in the election and Obstruction of Justice (the key conclusions of the Barr memo.)

What bothers me the most is the misuse of the word collusion by both sides of the argument, rather both sides of the media spectrum either determined to show guilt no matter what is in the redacted report or defend him at all costs.

The idea of collusion alone, in the cooperation for an illegal or dishonest purpose sense of the word, suggests another crime. Barr is saying in his memo that "The (Muller) investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities" only means they did not find it. On the question of Obstruction of Justice we are left with a useless "while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him" conclusion.

No matter if you support Trump or are steadfast against him we have a real problem with how this 2 year effort concluded. We have something like 5 people in prison for other charges, 7 people pleading guilty for whatever they did, others in some phase of a trial, 35+ people and groups charged with other crimes, and almost 200 charges among the lot of them and yet on the question of Trump's dealings we end up with inconclusive.

The "truth"... we do not know it yet, and might not depending on what is redacted.

I have no choice but to conclude the WaPo and FoxNews victory lap is too early.

No, because i doubt a trump supporter ever based his opinion on what the WaPo reports.

For an example, if a trump supporter said, unironically, that "100% of everything Wapo reports is wrong" and bases their opinions on opposing EVERYTHING wapo supports then well....you would have a point. But that's not the case. Sometimes they report right, and sometimes they report wrong. Sometimes people agree with them, sometimes people don't. It depends on the article and what's being said. If you search through wapo's many articles and opinion pieces, and don't find one thing objectionable, then I would say it's you that has irony to deal with.
