There are different kinds of attacks in politics. There are attacks on record, on ideology, on character, on competence etc. There are attacks based on race, religion, orientation age gender. There are attacks based on acquaintance, on image, on rumor, on personal or private affairs, on family ties. You need to distinguish between those sorts that may be relevant to a presidential candidacy, and those that are not. You also need to distinguish between professional actors in politics doing the attacking like his opponent Obama, and some blogger or poster or letter to the editor or blowhard around here doing the attacking. It would be really valuable if you actually proved these attacks by 'Dems' were beyond the normal rough and tumble and that these Dems were ones that matter.
