[W:77] Jehovahs Witnesses- [a destructive cult?] Persecution of a peaceable people...

Re: Jehovahs Witnesses- [a destructive cult?] Persecution of a peaceable people...

About 30 years ago, when I was exposed to JW by my former in-laws, I would have to say that I agreed with about 80% of what they stood for. However, the 20% I didn't buy into was definitely a show stopper.

Well, somethin's better than nothin'...:2razz:

Um no, I can and do tell you what the Bible says will happen to certain types of individuals but I have never told you God is going to do anything to you personally because I don't know you nor can I read your heart...only God can...

Oh, no doubt. It's one of the many things about religion which leaves me perplexed: how can something that seem like it should be so good go so wrong?

Re: Jehovahs Witnesses- [a destructive cult?] Persecution of a peaceable people...

Yeah you guys pretty much just sit on the sidelines and let everyone else fight, die and sacrifice for our great country, and after the dust settles, you slime your way in and start you BS all over again.

As conscientious objectors, you hide behind your religious shield, then mock those who died to give you the freedoms you **** on. Not only as a Christian, but as a former Marine, I despise you guys. I told JW's right to their face they are nothing but leeches.

of course all of your fellow marines and every one you defended who don't believe the right stuff about god are going to hell and you gladly serve that god

and jesus told people to turn the other cheek and to bless and love those whoa re nto good to you because even a sinner can love the people that treat him well

People are not perfect, even those who are trying to do right still stumble and fall at times...the question is, does that person get up and try again or does he just lay there and wallow in his wrongness...those are the ones you have to watch out for...

Re: Jehovahs Witnesses- [a destructive cult?] Persecution of a peaceable people...

so its something you witnessed but dont have recorded then?

otherwise you just seem to be making up bull****

I know this will be hard for you to believe, but there was no internet back then.

It was a personal experience that a lot of guys had. Give it up, it's well known to people who were there.

I don't think that was the claim, so just do what the voices tell you to do and don't worry about it.

A good honest mentor who can lead to water but not demand one drink is probably the best path we can hope for. Of course, I am referring to those who lead by example more than by dictate. When we run into one of those, we can ask for guidance. And, those people tend to offer no more than what was asked.

I was lucky enough to meet someone like that about 20 years ago.

Re: Jehovahs Witnesses- [a destructive cult?] Persecution of a peaceable people...

Slanderous statements and false accusations are often hurled against Jehovah’s servants. “The chief priests and the scribes kept standing up and vehemently accusing [Jesus].” (Luke 23:10) Paul was falsely accused by High Priest Ananias and others. (Acts 24:1-8) And the Bible speaks of Satan as “the accuser of our brothers . . . , who accuses them day and night before our God.” (Revelation 12:10) Those falsely accused brothers are the anointed Christians on earth in these last days.

No Christian would want to slander anyone or make false accusations. Yet, that could happen if we did not have all the facts before bearing witness against someone. Under the Mosaic Law, deliberately testifying falsely could result in death for the accuser. (Exodus 20:16; Deuteronomy 19:15-19) Moreover, things detestable to Jehovah include “a false witness that launches forth lies.” (Proverbs 6:16-19) Surely, then, we want to avoid imitating the principal slanderer and false accuser.

in post 7
where he later said he meant spitting on instead of mockery if he was not referring specificly to jehovah's witnesses but other conscientious objectors then it seems stupid to blame jehovah's witnesses for their actions

Absolutely...I would call that more than luck...I'd call it a true blessing...

People are good or bad regardless of religious affiliation.

How are people good or bad? What's your criteria? Lay it all out for us.

What stuff, and how do you know if I don't like it? Show me a list.
