During their season without Brady the Patriots still went 11-5. It was extremely unusual for an 11-5 team not to make the playoffs. My takeaway is that the Patriots made Brady, not the other way around.

Irrelevant though isn’t it? Did the patriots make the playoffs when Brady was injured? The answer is no regardless of how you want to look at it.

lol....is 11-5 a very good record in the NFL, or not?

Actually, it's the only thing that's relevant, and it shreds your argument.

But you don’t know that it’s just an opinion. The one season he was injured the patriots didn’t make the playoffs and in Bills first season he went 5-11 with Bledsoe who at the time was a respected QB who went on a season later to win the AFC championship game. My point is Bill started winning as a head coach the minute Brady stepped in and that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Now you're just going full homerism on me dude.

The Patriots went 11-5 without Brady at QB in 2008. They only missed the playoffs because of tiebreakers. The Patriots were already a decent team before Belichek took over dude. They made the superbowl four years before Brady was drafted. They didn't just start winning when Brady came over.

As for brees great QB but what’s his record like on the road? How’s his playoff record? Man throws up crazy numbers all year but falls apart in the playoffs and you want to blame that on the defense?

Lol are you ****ing joking?

Yeah, it's the defense's fault.

2017 @ Minnesota Guess what happens? Defense fails to stop Stefon Diggs from scoring a walk off touchdown.

2013 @ Seattle Defense couldn't stop Russel Wilson and Marshawn Lynch.

2011 @ San Fran Vernon Davis scores a last second TD against the Saints Defense

2010 @ Seattle Marshawn Lynch rips apart the Saints defense for his beast mode run.

Brees does put up enormous numbers because he has to: the Saints can't win without him. He's the reason New Orleans has a Lombardi. Meanwhile the Pats loose Brady in 2008 and still go 11-5.

Dude, no one is saying Brady isn't elite. But it's stupid to pretend playing for an excellent team hasn't helped him win five superbowls.

It really doesn’t though. Countless QBs have had great breakout years Colin K springs to mind and Tebow’s unlikely playoff run springs to mind. But in this case he had a winning record but still lost out when it mattered. Brady has lost out on the playoffs one time in his long career and he followed that up with back to back SBs. The man has broken every playoff record going, beat numerous teams, schemes and has done it with an assorted cast. I’m not going full homer here i understand that he’s benefited from a great head coach but Bill has needed him just as much. The idea that Brady wouldn’t have been successful elsewhere to me is ludicrous considering what we’ve seen him do.
I’ll be in New England for the patriots vs Green Bay in a few weeks and i for one cant wait to see two heavyweights go at it. I just wish this endless doubting of Tom Brady would stop lol. He’s been to 7 SBs for ffs lol. Eventually you have to put your hands up and say yeh he’s the best QB at winning games that we’ve ever seen.

Gun to your head question. Tied game playoffs in the 4th who do you want leading you Brees or Brady?

Bill Belichick quote:

You better have your A Game going into a QB meeting with Brady because he will pull up stuff from from 5-6 weeks ago to 2-3 years ago.

We'll have to disagree, and I think the Pats' 2008 season makes my point conclusively. I think Brady is a product of the Pats' system. Montana was a product of the 49ers' system, and Bart Starr (the other QB with five titles) was a product of the Packers' system.

Brady.

You're missing my point entirely. I'm not saying Brady isn't elite and I do think he's one of if not the greatest QB to ever play the game. That doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that a lot of his success is helped by the fact that he plays for one of the most well run organization in sports.

I guess my point is that Brady is one of the key reasons why the patriots are the team they are now. “ the patriot way” didn’t happen before the Brady era. Couple of blowout SB losses but that’s it. I guess we’ll never know unless Brady retires and Bill keeps going.

I should add i love Brees by the way. Probably the most fun a neutral can have watching a qb.

well no ****. It's a QB league. But there's no doubt that Rodgers and Brees would be pretty close if not as successful if they played for the Patriots.

Wow, the Chargers look good. 5-2 without their best defensive player in Bosa.

Chiefs are in their way. But, yeah. They have the QB and much of the pieces in place required to make him successful. Titans not so much.
