I heard one ESPN reporter saying this kid is her favorite for rookie of the year.

ROTLMAO!

Being a Longhorn fan and witnessing Dickson's effect on the game for several years, he was one of the best player on the team and was responsible for many of their wins.

5th round picks are pure gambles anyway. If it was for a 1st to 3rd rounder then I would be worried.

Sorry guys. I am not used to watching punters play. My man tb12 often scores Touchdowns.

The Raiders had a pro-bowl punter in Marquette King and dumped him for his foolish behavior.

IMO punters are very replaceable. The best punter vs a waiver wire pickup = not that much of a difference.

Field position matters but with the high scoring offenses, the much better accuracy and distances from place kickers, and the popularity of the "bend but dont break" defense style punters usefulness has gone down to next to nothing

Hmmm. With rules now so heavily favoring the offense, the importance of special teams has gone up, not down. An excellent punter is more valuable, not less.

Special teams might be more important but a punter is a small part of special teams. A good kicker, kick/punt returner, long snapper, and kick blocker are infinitely more valuable than a punter

You can disagree all you want it wont make you any less wrong. Teams are punting 10% less now than they did a decade ago while the average punt yards have gone up by 10%. 3 of the worst 5 punting teams last year won their divisions.

Punting is still an integral part of the game but the difference between the worst and best punter isnt a lot and with teams punting less on shorter fields the skill gap doesnt matter as much as it does with other positions

Punters have a huge impact on the game, good ones help keep or gain field position and bad ones can give field position away. Its all about complementary football. Good play in each phase of the game helps the other phase. Bad play makes it much harder for each phase even if two other phases are playing well. Thats why the Pats are continually contending they emphasis complementary football.

I need to watch the film to tell you exactly. You dont have to believe me or Pat Kirwan who is the author of the book I suggested. The Pats play complementary ball thats why they win. The Pats Superbowl wins usually include top 10 offenses and defenses and special teams.

I think they did a study where they compared the impact the best kicker makes for a team vs a kicker that is signed off the waiver wire. I believe it was determined the difference was a 1 win difference, which is important, but tells you just how unimportant it is to overpay for kickers. What is the point of paying a kicker premium money when his replacement can peform at a similar level?

I believe punters make even less of an impact than kickers.

I believe punters make even less of an impact than kickers.

I wouldn't pay premium. But I would make sure that they were upper 25% of the available kickers or punters available. You play money ball with that position.

Yeah, because all their money is being spent on their coach- who has a bigger contract than any of his players has. $100 million guaranteed, right? I guess Gruden didnt want any of his players to earn half of what he would be getting.

They made a smart move. The Patriots never overpay for players like that.

The Bears are foolish. Two high first-round picks and making Mack the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.

The Bears do not have 1 proven starting QB on their roster. Absolutely ridiculous trade.

Because the Pats are cheats, and their weak defense lost them the SB because theyre cheap.

I agree the price was high, but Mack is in the prime of his career, and he's worth it.
