[W:549] Nfl 2018

Isn't he 40-years old? He's not a spring chicken. And as good as Brees is, he is not in the same stratosphere as Brady. Brees in the playoffs vs Brady in the playoffs?

I don't think you can lay a single Saints post season loss at Brees's feet.

2006 NFCCG was a 10-6 Saints getting curb stomped by a really good Bears D, 2010 was Beast Quake, 2011 was Vernon Davis Catch III, 2013 was losing to the eventual Champs Seahawks in Seattle, 2017 was the Minneapolis Miracle, and now in 2018, probably the closest you can come to blaming him can be pretty squarely laid on the O Line.

Now, there's no denying Brees has declined over the years, of course he has. He's 40. But he still clearly has some juice left in him. And the Saints have adapted to his aging; they used to just ask him to toss it up 50 times and hoped it was enough. Now they run with Kamara and Taysom Hill in wildcat.

And let's be real here, the Patriots are a better run team than the Saints.

This was probably his last chance though, and that kills me. He's such a class act and has done so much for the city. I wish we could've sent him off with another ring.

We all know how our resident Patriot fans would be reacting if they had lost like your Saints did. Yet you haven’t blamed the referees a single time.

It’s too bad so many DPosters can’t just celebrate what’s great with sports, and the legacies the players and all involved leave behind.

lol...Out of the mouths of babes..

A 10-year-old kid won a science fair by proving Tom Brady is a cheater..

Some kids make baking soda and vinegar volcanoes for their science fair projects. Others find a way to turn their passion into a science fair project.

Meet Ace Davis, a 10-year-old kid from Lexington, Kentucky who created a science fair project about Tom Brady. While kids in New England might be trying to figure out how to scientifically prove that Brady is the greatest quarterback who ever lived, Ace decided to go in a different direction. He created a science fair project that proves that Brady is a cheater.

Ace sought to prove that Brady was a cheater through science. He wanted to show that deflated footballs gave Brady a competitive advantage. On his poster, he included the results of experiments he did with his mom and sister. Each of them threw footballs of varying inflation, and he measured the distance of each one and calculated the average. He found that the least inflated football traveled the farthest, therefore giving Brady a competitive advantage.

Of course, he included more than that on his poster. He used a Brady deflate-gate meme, a picture of Brady crying, and a picture of Brady making a weird face. And for good measure, Ace added a picture of himself in his football uniform (Ace plays quarterback, just like Brady) with a giant green checkmark, and put a giant red X over a picture of Brady.

never nice when parents project on their kids

I just thought it was funny. For a 10 year old, it's not bad..

I said while deflategate was going on the NFL completely mishandled the situation. I'm sure the Pats deflated the footballs, BUT who cares?? All the teams do it, GB and Rodgers admitted they over inflate their footballs. In baseball home teams water down the infield when have a fast opposing team coming in to play them. Stuff like that has been going on for 100 years.

The NFL should have fined Brady $25,000... Fined the Pats $100,000.. And that should have ended it. I have no idea what Goodell was doing.

It was a strange one for sure which blew up spectacularly in his face when he had to hand them the Lombardi trophy.

I will say even though it was a bit of a witch hunt I think in hindsight if the Patriots had been a bit more transparent and less defensive it could have been over faster. Also part of the issue was when the story broke which was in the two weeks before the SB where the sports media in the US literally have nothing else to report on.

lol.

Bears are trying out 6-7 kickers:

Chicago Bears schedule workouts with kickers

Total overreaction and a bad move by the coach to attack Cody for going on the Today show.

1. His kick was blocked so he didn't really miss it.

2. Kickers need confidence. The Bears front office pretty much put him on an island.

3. He's actually a pretty good kicker. No need for this publicity stunt. Draft one in the late rounds or sign someone undrafted. Maybe sign a veteran. Do a 3-way competition in training camp... that's it.

Oh yeah.. The Pats aren't blameless either. And they should have been fined, and 'maybe' lose a draft pick. But the million $'s fine, and 4 game suspension was nuts. It was way over the top.. But again, the Pats did a few things to make the whole mess worse too.

But like I said, this kind of home field gamesmanship has gone on forever, in all sports. I think it got to be a whose dick was bigger contest between Goodell and Kraft/Brady.

And on that note I'm done with deflategate.. It's been done to death here.. Including done to death by me..

LOL I love this bit:

If you could share a message with Tom Brady what would you say to him?

Gimme some of your money, you don’t deserve it.

This kid is cool, and he has good morals and he's funny. I like that. :lamo

LOL if Parkey's such a good kicker then the Pats should trade for him, I'm sure the Bears will give him away for a low draft pick.

 thread winner!

not my take, but it is funny anyway

Jeez, allow pass interference calls open to coaching challenge? Why not allow holding to be open to challenges as well? That's going to make the game even longer.

Not necessarily, if coaches continue to have only two challenges per game.

Exactly, it should have been a small equipment violation fine, like previous ones that were dealt with, this way.
You have no idea what Goodell was doing?
I do.
Goodell was under pressure from the other NFL owners for supposedly favoring his buddy Kraft. He was also under pressure for appearing lenient regarding domestic violence. There was talk that he wouldn't have his contract renewed. So he needed a big flashy display of how tough he was with violations, and how he wasn't trying to protect Kraft's team, and that's what he did, leading to the renewal of his very lucrative contract. Pretty evident.

Idiotic, stupid story..

A flag wasn't thrown because the Refs weren't throwing flags in the playoffs. If these reporters want a worthwhile story they need to find out why the Refs call 25 penalties in regular season games, then 3 in playoff games.

That would be a story worth reading.. This one is nonsense.

". . . The Saints and other officials not involved in the game do not believe that these officials' geographical ties influenced their non-call, according to sources. Officiating assignments are communicated to clubs on Monday, and there were no complaints from either the Rams or Saints in advance, according to a league source.
But in a league constantly trying to safeguard the integrity of the game, there are some privately wondering how four officials with Southern California roots wound up officiating a conference championship game that involved a Los Angeles team.
There is a perception of bias that the league either ignored or was blind to when it assigned this crew to this game. It ultimately could wind up influencing officiating assignments in the future, according to a league source, to make sure a scenario like this does not happen again.
"The NFL put [itself] in a bad situation," one officiating source told ESPN. "This is stuff that has to be taken care of prior to game. It's just guys not thinking of what's going on, nobody doing their checks and balances. The league is usually pretty much on top of it. This is one that slipped through the cracks." . . . ."

Yes I read it, bad optics..

Still a non-story. But again as a fan I rather have someone hold the NFL's feet to the fire on why during the regular season a defender sneezing on a receiver is a penalty, but in the play-offs receivers get mugged, but nothing is called. And not just in the Rams-N.O. game, and not just by Refs from S. California. ..

Curious send off by Tom Brady yesterday, prior to leaving for Atlanta, shouting "We're still queer" over and over to the cheering crowd. Guess they were glad he finally came out.
