[W:148]Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

How does Castor keep his job?

There are a whole bunch of these right wing guys I ask myself that about!

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

How does Castor keep his job?

In fairness, he had absolutely nothing to work with and little in the way of actual help from Republicans in these committees. They are more concerned with appearing petulant and indignant than they are mounting an actual defense for Trump.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

First of all, there is established diplomatic protocol for asking for such an investigation.

Protocol that the Trump team went out of their way to go around.

Second, you don’t use a TV lawyer and a couple of Brighton Beach bag men and a hotel guy who gave a million to you slush fund to run your foreign policy.

Third, you don’t condition taxpayer funds on a personal political favor.

Oh, no one on earth actually believes that Trump or Guliani give one good damn about “Fighting corruption” in Ukraine.

If they did care about "corruption" or an actual investigation, they would not have asked for an "announcement of investigations".

Does anybody understand the absurdity of just that aspect of this scandal?

"Hey criminals....we are investigating. Make sure to shred all your documents, get your money out of the bank and get the hell out of the country. "

Ah-huh!!!!!!

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

What is going on with the female counsel and Castor?

..and how does GOP Counsel Castor become a witness?

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

Trump can believe any fever dream conspiracy he wants. We already know he and many on the right apparently have a sickness when it comes to them as seen with the birther nonsense and many others.

What he can't do is use the power of the United States government and it's funding to force a foreign entity into helping his election prospects.

The sickness is making a mountain out of a mole hill and trying to remove a legitimately elected president just because you don't like him.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

He shouldn't be prevented from doing it. So let us know when he uses the proper channels and doesn't hold up millions of Congressionally approved taxpayer money while doing it.

Let us know when Barr is on the hunt.

But the money was given and it was given with zero pre-conditions. In other words, no bribe. Latest poll numbers show a declining number of people who want Trump removed from office.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

So if I set up a bank robbery, and the police find out about it, they'll let me off the hook because I didn't actually get the money.

They do that with all those undercover investigations where someone sets up a hit on someone else too, right? I mean, if the FBI agent you're trying to arrange a hit with doesn't really kill your target, you've done nothing wrong.

Is that the new thing in Trump Fan Nation? It fails the smart people test.

You're wrong about the pre-conditions too, but you already know that. Just being a good citizens of Trump Fan Nation and putting out the Trump approved talking points. Well done!

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

see executive privilege.

Ghouliani has no right to claim executive privilege. He's not an employee of the U.S. government. And didn't Trump say that he 'might appear to give testimony' ? :lamo

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

Well you can ask the same thing about Goldman. So not sure that is a fruitful line of inquiry.

That said, she has Castor back on the Committees not threatening or actually adopting Contempt of Congress Charges to compel key witnesses to testify. Not sure that is a fruitful line of inquiry for the Minority.

I do think the committees not continuing to pursue subpoenas for key witnesses is a fruitful line of inquiry for the Minority. Just because you are still pursuing particular subpoenas does not mean you have to make your investigation dependent on those witnesses eventually being compelled to come forward.

One can argue that Dr Hill was a more than adequate substitute for either Bolton or Kupperman. OK, I can buy that. But why not continue to pursue subpoenas for the other witnesses that should be called?

The money was released only after the whistleblowers complaint came out and the same day three House committees launched an investigation. Then and only then, did Trump release that money.

And to think a couple of them almost made it!

I'm not sure if a poster who is on the record stating they would prefer a pedophile in office over a Democrat is the right one to be deciding what is a mountain and what is a mole hill.

Trump attempted to use funds approved by Congress to personally benefit him. That is wrong no matter how many times Republicans try to spin, distort, and lie their way out of it.

Only after Trump got caught. And it was done hastily.

And,BTW, the Ukrainians still don’t have the money.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

I also think that though it might not help the Minority very much, one of my first questions after Sondland's public testimony was :"Well Sondland obviously has his emails. So, what else of the documents that he says he does not have does he actually have access to?"

I simply do not understand why that was not fleshed out or at least followed up on.

These, and other witness testimony and documents are the things that the White House is trying to hide.

They want to force the thing to court, hoping that the courts will run out the clock.

As the McGhan case resulted in a loss for the Trump White House, it’s unlikely that his assertion of universal rights to refuse anything he wants to refuse will hold up in any court.

But the Trump defenders latest play (as premiered by Mr Turley) is to slow the process down.

Frankly, I have no problem with that. Make the GOP Senate acquit Trump the week before the GOP Convention. Make the party own the leader that most of them quietly wish they could get rid of!

Yadda yadda yadda. Do you think the Senate will vote to remove Trump from office? Even the public is getting tired of the Democrat's shananigans. Polls are showing the public not supporting removing Trump from office. But, Democrats don't care. They smell blood and I don't even know why because surely they know there is no blood to be had. They won't even peel off one Republican vote in either the House or the Senate.

Whenever you don't have an argument you pull out something I said a long time ago that was severely twisted and taken out of context, as if you think that will win your argument. My prediction, you will keep posting this same nonsense instead of addressing the issues of this thread.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now you're saying that they are still being bribed? Hey, that's a good one. I hadn't heard that one yet. Thanks for making me laugh.

I love how foolish the Right looks today. Keep cheering as they hang themselves by their own rope.

No, I haven't for a millisecond believed that the Russian-controlled Senate would vote to impeach, much less remove Trump. Anyone who believes that has no clue.

True but Sondland had claimed he didn't have access to anything. But when he showed up for public hearings he had his emails! So my immediate question and one that was not asked or answered is "How much more did Sondland have?"

Caster says Sondland always had access to his documents which really makes me wonder what Sondland has, does not have and what he had and has access to for this whole process. There is a dif between State Dept docs and WH docs. They are not held in the same places and don't fall under the same protocols.

As I said even after Sondland's public testimony, IMO they should not be done with Sondland. That smug SOB needs to be hauled before committee again as IMO he has more clean up to do.

When you make the assertion that someone is making a mountain out of a molehill I think it is only reasonable to make it clear the level of judgement we are talking about.
