Judiciary hearings will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Barry Berke will be Democratic counsel
Steve Castor will be Republican counsel

If anyone recalls the testimony of Corey Lewandowski, he was arrogant and confrontational. It was a masterclass in partisanship and stonewalling. Then, Barry Berke questioned him and put an end to his stonewalling and got Lewandowski to admit he lied in public. Barry Berke is razor-sharp so I'm expecting an interesting hearing today.

This may be the last public hearing we'll see.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

And a MAGAt moron kicked out. Republicants throwing every narrative against the wall. LOL.

Their entire defense has crumbled to the dems don't like 2016.

What a joke these guys are.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

The "hearing" today is more or less the last chance for each side to grandstand a little before the House votes on Articles of Impeachment in what is expected to be a solid party line vote.

It does not appear that any new information will be entered into the record, and no real new take on what has been entered so far.

Today is likely to be a **** show.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

Nadler was quite clear in his opening statement. This impeachment is all about getting Trump off the 2020 ballot.

I'm curious, if it's such an abuse of for Trump to have asked Zelensky to look into the Bidens activity in Ukraine that it warrants impeachment then isn't impeachment for the purpose of getting an opposing candidate off the ballot also an abuse of power?

No. Impeachment is a Constitutionally granted process and not an abuse of power.

Of course it is. But the radical left controlling the House are hiding behind their majority power to do so.

As evidenced by Nadler's refusal to follow procedure this morning, this has nothing to do with impeachable offenses, as they know they are toast in the Senate.

It will be about running investigations their media partners will promote for them, all the way to November, 2020.

A legal means of subverting a fair election process, and a legal method to attempt to manipulate the outcome of a Presidential election under the color of authority.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

Hang on. I was told in another thread that the people participating in these hearings today should not have prepared. Or practiced. Or done their homework.

I guess today may suck for them.

Summarizing the arguments for each side’s case isn’t a “****show.” It’s 100% normal.

Why would it suck for them.

What is there to practice? I'd certainly hope they would be prepared. I would certainly hope they would have done their homework.

But what is there to practice? Defending things that aren't real when asked about them? I guess that would take some practice.

No quotation marks around that. Guess Nadler didn't say it.

That it is, Tres. However, the way a Constitutional power gets used and the purpose for that use can absolutely constitute abuse. After all, isn't that what Trump is being impeached for?

Well, there is no transcript for me to quote yet.

I don't know the specific reason they may impeach him. They haven't voted on impeachment yet.

^ This guy doesn't understand how the real world works.

No wonder he's a Trump mark.

LMAO!!!

You don't know why they'll impeach Trump? Does it bother you that three years into the process you still don't know why they're going to impeach him? Does it matter to you that we're at a point where the Speaker of the House has instructed the Judiciary Committee to write up articles of impeachment and STILL you don't know what the basis for impeachment will be?

Well, I suppose none of that matters if the purpose is merely to obstruct any and all Executive action but it does kind of bother me that one party in one branch of the government has decided that the process of impeachment is a legitimate campaign tool.

Can you link to the articles of impeachment so I can see what specifically are the reasons listed? Last I heard they had not completed them yet. You're claiming they have. So let's see them so I can see what reasons are listed.

Three years into what process? I don't remember the Republicans angling to impeach Trump when they controlled the House. The Democrats didn't control it until this year. What impeachment inquiry happened in 2017 and 2018 that I missed?

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

So you're claiming Nadler didn't say that? Prove it.

I am claiming there are no quotation marks around the line of text This impeachment is all about getting Trump off the 2020 ballot offered in post #4 of this thread though that line is attributed to the Chairman.

I missed Nadler saying that in his opening statement and I watched the entire thing. At what mark did he say this impeachment was "all about getting Trump off the 2020 ballot"?

You wrote: "Guess Nadler never said it". Prove he didn't, or admit you don't know if he did, or didn't.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

I think Republicans made a point of order over a point of order.

Re: Mon. 12/9 Judiciary Hearing Today

Caster suggesting that the Committees have not expended all efforts to get key witnesses to testify because the Committees have not issued threats of Contempt of Congress Orders or issued the actual Contempt Orders themselves.

Well that is a heck of an argument to make. So the witnesses that have not come forward MIGHT have come forward under threats of Contempt of Congress Charges is my only guess at Castor's line of reasoning. Nice Administration you have there DonDon. Either that or yet another crap attorney left with no real tools to defend Trumpkin against the indefensible.

With any luck, this final public testimony may just be the one that people are watching. It appears that most weren't interested in the others. Apathy is a very dangerous thing.
