Meanwhile, a different member of the well-regulated militia was busy shooting his brother! He heard someone enter the house, and loosed a few rounds hitting the person twice. AFTER he stopped shooting, he found he'd shot his brother, who had left the house to investigate a noise. Brother is still alive because the well-regulated militiaman is a poor shot!

I'm not defending him. His convictions are impersonating an officer because he had a badge reading "Special Agent" and an unspecified illegal weapon. There must have been more to it for the impersonating an officer charge, but that is a gravely serious offense - depending what he did.

What I am questioning is the claim he was training people for some mass attack against Obama and other officials on an FBI press release. That sounds like "someone told us he said..." thing. That's the kind of thing law enforcement may try to hype up as pressure to plea out to something else.

From what I read. The 'uniform" he was wearing was of no actual agency and even the badge was just a badge that said special agent. So if there was no agency that he was impersonating. It would be hard to actually prove that he was actually impersonating any kind of law official without more information.

A militia member/militia is no more representative of ALL such members/militias than a man who beats his dog is representative of ALL dog owners.

The bizarre attempt to conflate one/some with all is just that: bizarre.

Hence the unusual degree of meandering here - the premise is so thin and silly that once one dismisses it as such there isn't a lot left to say on the topic.

To which I would add that just as there are many different kind of cowboys and there are many different kinds of bartenders, there are many different kind of militias. However, just as cowboys herd cattle and bartenders serve drinks, militias draw members who are armed and grizzly and who wear camo sacks. Some militia carry mouthwash but only for media interviews. Trump Himself says some of 'em are good people which is also a statement about Gump Himself. Yet after Charlottesville all members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said the armed forces don't tolerate racism. Joint Chiefs pulled down Trump's pants on that one they did. And they left Trump standing there. Sort of like the emperor has no clothes.
