Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

I never said the Nunes trip never happened ... I said the Vienna trip never happened.

Like it says in the Newsweek link: "... Reports filed with the Office of the Clerk for the House of Representatives show that Nunes claimed expenses for a four-day trip to Europe at the time in question between November 30 and December 3. ..."
According to Parnas, Guiani's bag-man, Nunes met in a secretive trip to Vienna between November and December 2018, and put him in touch with former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin. Records show that Nunes had a flight to "Europe" that corresponds to what Parnas stated. It should be easy to check the flight records and see what city the tickets were booked for. Or, maybe Nunes met with Shokin in a different city? What's the difference? Either way, we have someone with first-hand knowledge that Nunes met with Shokin and is willing to testify to that account.

Meanwhile, Nunes hasn't sued anyone for reporting this. He merely "threatened" to sue. Sounds like that's right from Trump's playbook.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

Why should that indictment cause Nunes to recuse himself from the House impeachment nonsense?
Explain why by chance there are several conversations between him and this guy who is part of the investigation? Its enough to require him recuse himself to avoid the appearance of bias

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

CNN is part of a much larger consortium of left leaning news orgs, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, whose audience, as a whole, is much greater than that of Fox.

AS for the National Enquirer comparison, Trump once wondered why the NE didn't win a pulitzer for it's story on Ted Cruz's dad being part of the team that assassinated JFK, and he also wondered why CNN and other news orgs didn't do the story.

See, it's like this, Humbolt, as much as you hate CNN, it's a legit news org, and legit news orgs don't do tabloid reporting, which is WHY they didn't go with the stupid story by a tabloid whose owner is pals around with Trump

Hate is a strong word. I don't hate CNN. I'm just not interested, much like I'm not particularly interested in Fox, or any other cable news outlet. Quite a few here probably know in advance exactly what the talkers at such outlets are going to say. So, it's boring.

If I want to watch live hearings, it doesn't matter which outlet I watch. I watch the first one I come to that's carrying them. Now, I seriously doubt that you would ever watch a live hearing on Fox, for example, because you're afraid they're changing the words, or something equally sinister. I'm relieved to report that I don't suffer from such paranoia.

That's a problem? Hell, Schiff canoodled the so-called whistleblower.

"Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, has filed a $435 million defamation suit against CNN over a story that alleged Nunes met with a fired Ukrainian prosecutor in an effort to dig up dirt on Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden."
"Nunes did travel between Nov. 30 and Dec. 3. The lawsuit says that on those dates, Nunes was in Libya and Malta. Nunes traveled to Libya to "discuss security issues with General Khalifa Haftar," the suit says. In Malta, Nunes "met with U.S. and Maltese officials, including Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, and participated in a repatriation ceremony for the remains of an American World War II soldier missing in action," according to the suit.
The lawsuit provides photos of Nunes with Haftar, with Muscat, and at the repatriation ceremony."
Nunes sues CNN over 'demonstrably false' Ukraine report

Sounds like the story of Cohen in Prague, dunnit?

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

CNN has plenty of lawyers on retainer - each of them exponentially better than Nunes' twice-suspended hack of a lawyer.

At first, I though Nunes was getting played by some defamation activist lawyer who convinced him this would work - but the more research I did into his actual lawyer, it's pretty clear Nunes wanted to sue, and kept searching desperately until he found some halfwit who would actually file the case for him.

LOL. That was sorta funny. There is hope for you.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

Dude, you just admitted you wanted to stack the court with biased Judges. Sad.

As we have seen conservatives go by the constitution says and not what they want it to say like liberal judges.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

Bull****, you came here to spew troll threads.
You've never asked anybody anything. In fact, the first time you ever spoke to me, you claimed you were "educating" me.
And you've been getting your ass and head handed to you by everyone since then.

As I have said, leftists are always projecting what they are onto others.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

What's the matter? You weren't able to get enough of that turkey and gravy too?

Try cooking one instead of mammy and daddy doing it for you.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

Except it won't be.

He'll just claim anything he doesn't like as an executive privelege issue.

Hide the evidence. Then say you have no evidence.

That's the whole Playbook.

Nope. That only works in Schiff faced impeachment hearings where they hide evidence. Can't do that in normal trials. CNN will have to show where they got their information.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

It means that Nunes, working with Giuliani, conspired with Parnas to plant the Biden story. Yovonavich seems to have got wind of the scheme and Nunes told Trump. Vindman was on the call and taking notes, which Bill Barr has intentionally hidden, and confronted Nunes. Trump, who had demanded that Yovanovich be "taken care of" asked the Pentagon for a rigged Javelin missile and arranged for Sondland to have a "misfire" while he and the ambassador were at a military demonstration. Nunes mentioned that there would be political fallout if she was bumped off and suggested that she be run off instead. So, in essence, what these phone calls prove beyond any shadow of a doubt is that the Biden story was created out of whole cloth for the benefit of the Trump 2020 team and that the attempted murder of Yovanovich was thwarted by a heroic military officer.

Excellent post. If Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi came up with that story, I bet you a dollar to a donut that the Democrats would be lapping it up like a thirsty dog on a hot summer's day. They eagerly await the pronouncements of their authority father and mother figure Democrats and of course, those on CNN and MSNBS

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

I doubt it, more likely it would be tossed out of court for being frivolous. There's this thing called the first amendment, pretty tough to sue a news org.

You'd have to be a lot smarter than a fictional cow to win that one.

That's funny, most comedians are on the left. If you think you're funny, well, don't quit your day job.

I haven't seen a left wing comedian I thought was funny. I find them mean spirited bores.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

LMAO. Nunes is a moron. He can't sue for accurate reporting that shows him to be a cog in this wheel of corruption.

Agreed. But he CAN sue for intentional and knowing defamation.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

Why should that indictment cause Nunes to recuse himself from the House impeachment nonsense?

Because Mr. Parnas was an associate of Rudy Giuliani and actively assisted in the Giuliani smear of Ambassador Vovanovitch.

In other words, Lev Parnas was in integral player in the Trump/Giuliani shakedown scheme. Apparently, so was Devin Nunes. As Amb. Sondland testified, "Everyone was in the loop."

In addition, Parnas has said he will testify that he was the translator for Devin Nunes in Vienna (November/December 2018) when Nunes met with Viktor Shokin gathering smear material on the Bidens.

The House GOP Caucus is not happy with Rep. Devin Nunes. He will probably face Congressional ethics charges (for the second time).

Nunes was previously removed from a House Committee for leaking closed-hearing information to the White House.

Note to all: It was established in the Roger Stone trial that whenever you see a "-1" identifier in phone records, that designation refers to President Trump in the White House.

Parnas isn't part of the impeachment inquiry.

But this happens all the time. Heck, Schiffty's aides had conversations with both Ciaramella before his complain and with Taylor before his testimony...and that's just the ones we know about. Perhaps the Senate should subpoena the phone records of Schiffty and everyone on his staff to see if HE should recuse himself. We certainly know that Schiffty is biased.

Ok, Nunes filed the suit yesterday, so I was wrong.

The CNN story relied on an account from Lev Parnas, a business associate of Giuliani, relayed to CNN by Joseph A. Bondy, Parnas’s attorney. Bondy has said his client would be willing to tell Congress that he learned from Shokin directly that he and Nunes met in Vienna last year.

It should be easy to verify where Nunes was by inspecting his passport.

While Nunes says he was in Nunes was in Libya and Malta, his Congressional reimbursement record clearly says "Europe." Neither Libya nor Malta are in Europe. Libya is in Africa and Malta is an island in the Mediterranean.

It certainly is possible for Nunes to have landed in Vienna, had a meeting with Parnas, and then went off to Libya and Malta. The passport should tell.

In any case, since CNN had a source and had no reason to doubt the source, there is no grounds for Nunes to prevail in a lawsuit, based on Sullivan v NYT.

You compared CNN to National Enquirer, I rebutted that contention with evidence, and your above reply does not refute it.

'nuff said.

Of course you haven't, right wingers have no sense of humor.

I'd say William F Buckley did, but he'd reject what the GOP of today has become, as much as he rejected Trump as president.

Re: Call records show Devin Nunes in contact with indicted Giuliani associate

Agreed. But he CAN sue for intentional and knowing defamation.

There's evidence that shows he did what was alleged. If he sues he opens himself up to a counter suit.

Bill Maher is a complete bore. He should be considered a left wing political commentator instead of a comedian. Who is it on the left that you find funny? Let me look him or her up and we will see.
