[W:108]Which Trump do you agree with

Re: Which Trump do you agree with

Great point. That was very big of them!

This is true, but compared to our past and recent history, we just don't do that **** anymore and we shouldn't be regressing now.....

The Census question today is exactly the same question and is being adjudicated for exactly the same reasons.

Democrats then and Democrats now both want to use their underclass to bolster their states' representation at the Federal Level in both the Congress and the Electoral College.

I guess once a trick is learned, the tricky like to continue to use it.

Tell it to your Supreme Court. Jeez, what do you megalomaniacs want, all nine seats?

Do you approve of Don's ignoring the SC? Would you prefer living under the Trump family controlling all three of our branches of government, or disbanding a couple if you could?

Re: Which Trump do you agree with

Of course it did. But only legally and for a specific, devious purpose.

This is exactly the same debate as is being conducted today with the census and the recognition of undocumented immigrants being counted as either citizens or denied that recognition.

There is nothing imaginable that our politicians cannot and will not pervert for a bad purpose.

There was no devious purpose behind it except to curtail slave states in trying to use people considered property to be used for the census. The census is used for apportioning representation.

After Trump appoints his fifth justice in 2023, that should be enough. ;)

Did the SCOTUS do anything bu ask for a better reason to add this question?

Roberts is like the girl in high school who demands that you tell her you love her before giving in. Sure its a lie and is contrived as all get out - but the words seem important at the time so what the heck.

So Donald, make up something that at least sounds real good even though the real partisan reason is hanging out there like a one hundred pound meat ball.

And that is why the "Slave States" suddenly wanted to count their slaves as people. Well, 3/5 of a "people", but it's a start. Look where we've come from that partial recognition beginning!

Absolutely no difference in the motivation for this more recent move by the Democrats.

Once the Democrats find something that works, they stick with it!

The reason to determine if the respondents to the Census are citizens is that the results of the Census result in real world changes in representation and the apportionment of funds from the Treasury.

The foundation for this exists in Article 1, Section 2 and the 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments.

Roberts and the others did not rule against the question, but did dismiss the rationale presented by the Administration.

We know the reason for this desire to ask the citizenship question. Roberts simply wants the administration to lie more creatively.

All true.

But the irrational on the left do not appear to be allowed, nor does their training provide, the means of understanding this simple fact.

Instead, they create little fantasies in their minds in an effort to appear superior.

Why would the administration need to lie at all?

Re: Which Trump do you agree with

Why would the administration need to lie at all?

Because their actual motivation is political advantage via a phony census count and that reeks to high heaven.

You seem to be implying that limiting the Census of Citizens to only Citizens will produce a "phony census" of Citizens.

The Constitution uses the word "Citizen" to describe a "Citizen" in the main text and various amendments and specifically with regard to the Census.

It is a census of the population. It is NOT a count of citizens. Check your Constitution if you are confused about the difference.

I have checked the constitution. That pesky word, "Citizen" just keeps popping up over and over again. It's in the 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments.

You are disagreeing with the Constitution. Again.

Really???? I looked at the language regarding the taking of the census and it says NOTHING about citizenship. It is a count of the people who live in the country.

I agree that it might be nice to count the citizens versus non-citizens at some point in a different survey. But that would clearly and decisively corrupt and distort the census which has nothing to do with who is a citizen and who is not.

The only reason you support it is to advance your own partisan agenda as we know it would intentionally encourage and likely produce an undercount and the census would be seriously flawed and thus illegitimate. And that of course is the right wing Republican goal.

Did your incisive, extensive, exhaustive review somehow miss entirely the 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments?

With your incisive, extensive, exhaustive understanding of the Constitution, are you recommending that we disenfranchise anyone who is not a WHITE MAN as was corrected in with the Amendments mentioned above?

Do you think before you post?

The Constitution orders a count of the people. Nothing in any other part of the Constitution changes that.

Why would anyone want to propose a question added to the census which likely to produce a flawed census by producing a deliberate undercount of the population? That would be contrary to the directive in the Constitution and a perversion of the census process itself.

Asking a citizenship question is not something that is either new or unusual.

Why would this be asked? To gain information. The Census collects a myriad of information including the nature of the domicile and living quarters, demographics of all occupants, race, occupation(s), ages, location of the household whether or not there is a computer present and so on.

It is used to apportion money and representation. Whether or not the counted people are citizens is a pretty important identifier. We need to know if the household has a computer, but not if the household has citizens?

C'mon, man!

Fact Check: Meadows' Misleading Claim That Obama Administration Removed Census Citizenship Question | WFAE
<snip>
Worf: So how long has the census asked about citizenship then?

McCarthy: The census has been administered every decade since 1790. And in 1790, it did not ask about citizenship.

That was a question that first showed up in 1820 and then again in 1830.

In 1870, it was asked but only for males ages 21 and older.

Then it appeared again as sort of a general question in 1890 and in every decade since — with the exception of 1960, when for unexplained reasons it was removed.

To undercount the people in the nation and give unconstitutional partisan advantage in doing that undercount.

With all of the work required to do the Census, this seems silly to specifically avoid gaining knowledge when the opportunity to learn is right there in front of you.

I know that it is a good tactic of despotism to selectively edit knowledge available to the people, but this seems like the perfect time to gather knowledge. Following the gathering, it could still be withheld.

Your goal of withholding knowledge could still be accomplished!

I wonder... Might it be possible for the Census to survey the complete population of China and place them into, say, Wyoming for the purposes of apportioning money and representation to Wyoming?

Somebody contact Trump and give him the idea. What am I saying? It's on the internet now. Surely the NSA has already relayed this to Trump as soon as I click on "Post".

The census has one main job and that is to provide a count of the people who live in the USA. Anything which might hurt that effort is a negative and cannot be tolerated.

Don't you just hate it when a poster edits your post for no other reason than to change the meaning and then presents it as if it has not been changed?

Seems a tad slippery. You know, like withholding information. Seems like this is a preference for liberals.

Why do liberals hate knowledge?

How was your post edited or changed? I replied to a complete thought -an entire paragraph from you and in no way changed one letter of it.

You left out 80% of the post.

Are you really this dense? Do you know what a rhetorical question is?
