Vox Co-Founder: "Anybody should be allowed to run for President"

Dood dood dood...

You went juvenile with the shoestrings comment, I merely try to adjust my game to my specific adversary here... with such little to help you offer yourselves on the other side of the arguments, I don't want to want to overwhelm you, so I often play to y'alls speed... slow so slow and slower.

Thank you. I will be facetious sometimes and take cheap digs at political figures. I will not attack forum members, cast aspersions on their intellect or call them names of any sort. I may chuckle at typos.

The correct response to me attacking Trump will never be to attack me personally, because I will never do the same to anyone here. As I understand it the mods enforce the rules better than other forums.

If you wanna go that way regarding citizenship and elections, have at it. Need to amend the constitution is all. Go for it if you feel so passionate, see if you can persuade enough of us to weather that hard, smart founders intelligent process.

I'm not especially passionate about it; it just wouldn't rub me the wrong way if naturalised citizens could also run for president. They'd have to be 'American enough' to convince the electorate though.

I was young and idealistic also.

With years of having had heaped upon me, just for expressing a different, more moral and traditional perspective, the labels bigot, misogynist, racist, homophobe, Islamaphobe, xenophobe, etc...with all that haughty condescension from the left I lost much of that idea of turn the other cheek.

Now I generally go with the stance of you take a swing at me, I will certainly swing back, be sure to connect with minimum twice the velocity. I rarely hold back any longer, my days of meek for certain ended with the forced debility, and now probably the demise, of the Boy Scouts, then the outrageous imposition of SSM and quickly on its heals the invasion of the male chromosome new feMALES forceably legally into our public girls bathrooms and public school showers.

The coup de grace, the final blow was that Individual Mandate, my government thinking it can force me to buy a product I had no intention of ever purchasing [ and, for the record, I voted with my feet, moved out of my country rather than contravening my principles on the matter ].

Now, all one on the other side must do is telegraph they might swing and they get the full caustic punch, ascerbic, vitriolic, the venting of my spleen as I see fit.

If America wants that we change how we elect our top leader, it will pass the amendment to do so, to change that criteria properly. I personally think its just fine as it stands. As a teacher I did appreciate the profound respect many of those students coming from other, less free nations generally expressed...and their reverence for our God given and government protected freedoms... that which many of our naturally born American students simply take for granted.

So, who knows?

I don’t think we should lower the age. If you are going to be made the most powerful person in the world then I think you need some life experience. If I had to choose between lowering the age limit and increasing it I would be in favor of increasing it to at least 40. I even think we need more requirements, like being able to qualify for a security clearance.

I do think that naturalized citizens should be eligible to run for President assuming they have been a citizen for a significant period of time, like 20 years or so.

You know it’s funny how the United States constitution which is ALIVE in my opinion States that’s a candidate must be 35 years old or older but, all these liberals are going to change that because they don’t really leave anything alone! I don’t want someone like Alexandria who doesn’t have any common sense to be able to be president

...the ban on immigrants was to make sure of loyalty to the country and to prevent an easy take over by another country

OK, can you explain the psychology behind that?

How would letting someone not born a US citizen, to be elected President, allow the USA to be taken over by another country ?

I could actually understand that reasoning a little if it had been written during the Cold War. Soviets did that kind of super long term, deep, deep infiltration similar to The Americans TV show. But it is hard to imagine the Founding Fathers anticipating that kind of thing. But they were smart dudes, so maybe.

A few years back I saw someone call Yglesias and Klein "The low testosterone boys", and now with how I am watching Yglesias's brain seemingly rot out I have to wonder if this was right....maybe a hormonal unbalance is the cause.

I used to think that he was very good.

Vox is a wreck now, all agenda.

Yglesias was never any good. Used to be at Slate, which greatly declined from its beginnings.

Well it seems silly now but back then think if royalty from another country became president they could essentially dissolve the new fragile union or even annex it

Agreed. I expect she'd do at least as good a job as your current president, so why not.

Bull****, she'd do better than them all, except George Washington.

:lamo Fair nuff.

Merry Christmas, American.

Also...congrats on the new grand daughter.

She's not a week older, which makes her way more mature than last week. :2razz:

hehe...so easy to love them at that age, when it's not your ass they're keeping up all night, there, Grandpa. ;) My son is 6, and I still have a grudge against him for the first 9 months of his life. Good thing they're cute... :)

Age 18 months - 6, though, I could do every day for the rest of my life. I'll let you know how I feel about 7 when we get there.

Except for the age and immigrant bans, anybody can already run for president.

Just look at all the presidents that we have had throughout our history!

So now the leftwing openly wants to be able to run their anti-Trump hero Kim Jung Un for USA president. No surprise.
