Vanessa Trump taken to hospital as precaution after suspicious letter sent to her home

Much ado about nothing.......trump will demand martial law over this non incident

No he won't. Another prediction that will fail miserably. Oh - and I bet if you received a letter containing a possibly toxic substance you would run screaming to your Mommy.

lol...and at the same time they start threads complaining bitterly about CNN not being hateful enough to Kim Jong Un's sister. It must be very complicated to be conservative at times...hehe...

You know, you Americans are on the wrong side of the coin about Korea. The North is participating side-by-side with the South, in the Olympics (both are using Canadian coaches) they are "politically co-mingling" which is being hailed around the world as an ice breaker for North Asian security. Japan, Russia, China and Canada see this as a step toward peace.

They got there by excluding American representatives - the yanks were not even allowed to listen. It is being speculated now that peace is VERY possible if the US gets out.

it will never be 'declared' ........... they will keep it a secret & use the issue to further their authoritarian ideas & agenda ............

I read reporting that it was a "white powder" and could have been cornstarch, so it sounds malicious to me.

I just can't even pretend to care about this event given the scope of all other issues we have to deal with.

well, when there is a bellicose fat ass crazy abuser of females waving around his big red nuclear button on his desk, I wouldn't invite anyone from that nation either ........

What the **** are you talking about?

Woman receives letter.

Why should anyone care? Knowing the company President Trump keeps, she's lucky that Don Jr doesn't punch her in the face and then put out a cigarette on her hand.

Seriously? Can't believe you said that. Has your hatred of Trump affected your empathy for people that have done nothing wrong?

if someone sent me some white powder in the mail I would prolly just send it next door to my drugged out dope head neighbors ..........

This isn't getting much coverage. And your questions concerning the conditions of the envelope are every appropriate.

How did this mysterious substance get through to the intended target in this day and age of high security. It either smacks of incompetence on the part of her security, or there is reason to suspect an internal hoax.

It would not be the first time a Trump has used such tactics, remember Trump was the guy who would phone up reporters and pretend to be his own friend and say raving things about him. He is prone to self-victimization and there is, as you correctly point out, a lot of questions.
In Trumpese: I am a victim! A victim! of one of the great political smear campaigns in the history of the world!

Very surprising you would raise that considering some of the hate the Trump family has heaped on individual Americans. I have seen nothing to indicate anyone in that tribe was ever gracious toward a critic, and enough to know they will venomously attack anyone on anything no matter how slight.

I at least will NEVER forget how Donald Trump used the office of the President of the United States to vilify a mother of a dead American soldier.

With that said, any post that carries the word "empathy" and the name Trump is a waste of bandwidth.

"You reap what you sow". I thought the right were up on Biblical quotes and ****

Maybe it came from the ghost of the big ***** Donny Jr. kilt.

I don't feel obligated to express sympathy over what could have very well been a misunderstanding. I do feel obligated to be honest and i'm not going to pretend to feel sorry for someone with so little information.

Rev's source was not descriptive, i have since learned that it was a "white powder" which does suggest that the intent of the letter was malicious.

There is no excuse, ever, for sending anything that could be dangerous or even just resemble something dangerous. I hope all are ok and it was just a hoax. The sickos responsible should be found and prosecuted.

According to the news article the substance was determined to be harmless.

Too bad the powder wasn't poisonous, amirite?

actually no, not at all.

This is perfect for the Trump cause. Had anyone died then there would have to be an investigation and we know Trump wouldn't allow that. So a "scare" serves his purposes perfectly "I am a victim, now my family is a victim!"

It's all he's got left. Lies have failed him. His "greatest people" have failed him.....and now.....?

He's mad as a hatter, you know that right?

Oops.

Mea culpa it was a Trump-like knee jerk reaction.

What's the read on NAFTA in your area?

Ehhh..well... hehe... I work in the automotive industry, so I'm both more worried and less worried, if that makes sense. I know how much investment the automotive companies have up here, what's left is all very much flagship manufacturing, with the main export being best practices. I don't think, given what it would do to the big automotive companies, that we have to worry much...there's far too much involved with moving operations, and not nearly enough American manufacturing capacity to ditch NAFTA entirely. The time and money it would take would ensure that we are driving Hondas, Toyotas, and Kia's from here on out.

But, that's always assuming that the states are competently considering all the factors...not exactly the safest assumption to make, and if they really want to throw themselves off a bridge, they will, in which case there's a lot of jobs that will go away here.

Both worried and unworried...interesting times...hehe :)

How bout where you are?

Yeah i'm having a hard time understanding why people seem to think i need to feel more sympathy for a rich woman who goes to the ER over a scare than i do over the teacher in Texas who died from the flu after turning down $116 flu medication due to cost.

I don't see what all the fuss is about really; going to a hospital because you get mail with some fairy dust?

when I was 22 years old I nearly cut a whole finger off my hand with a table saw  ....... that's when a person goes to a hospital ........ :peace

I tend to agree, however every headline with Trump is a reminder he's a loose canon and will destroy the country for the sake of revenge over the most minor issue.

We have already been hit, the Trump administration has imposed a new round of tariffs on softwood, by summer we'll be looking at very high unemployment rates.

The mood is 'if we're going to have a war...make it hurt"...retaliate which we have never done. Trump has brought out a lot of animosity on the coast for years and years of past insults.

And, we also have an issue over milk. BC's milk industry isn't large, but it is very good, extremely efficient and we face at least five huge corporate milk producing giants in Washington state who are slavering over the huge - to them - Vancouver/BC market.

Usually the coast reacts to this **** with a yawn and continue buying clothes etc. in Washington. Now there are calls for boycotts and I think our new idiot NDP premier is stupid enough to go to war too. He's already started one with Alberta which Trudeau is going to drive back down his thoat.
