Utah Mass Shooting

More lies-where do you come to the idiotic conclusion that no one talks about them? what is never talked about are the victims of black on black killings in democrat run cities

:doh

I would say that people who kill or harm those they love and have an intimate relationship with are mentally ill, yes.

those people sometimes literally hate their exes.

how about suicide bombers?

Love and hate are two horns on the same goat, especially in intimate relationships. Mentally stable people do not - except in cases of self defense - harm or kill others.

What do you mean by "if we'll ever come to our senses"?

a good question given that Hawaii has most of the laws that gun haters love and they cannot blame a nearby pro-rights state for Hawaii's crime

I just caught myself saying "Which mass shooting is this?"

This is the new normal.

how many people do you think die each year from mass shootings?

**** if I know.

I do know that they're hardly even newsworthy these days...Just another maniac, just another Tuesday.

I mean, you bring up a good point. It's like terrorism. You have a greater chance of getting clipped by a bus stepping off the curb. On the other hand, we have at least attempted to curtail terrorism (though not with any measurable success), while this crap just keeps going on and on.

It's like something out of a JG Ballard book. Mass shootings as filler between the main stories.

mass shootings is an nebulous term. Is it a case where a nutcase father, who loses a custody case, shoots his ex-their two children and then eats a gun-or is it a guy like Stephen Paddock, who has millions in assets, and spends 2-3 years premeditating a mass murder? Is it a bunch of gangbangers or one percenters who raid the hangout of a rival gang and several on both sides are killed?

The fact is, violent crime in the USA, despite massive increases in the number of "semi auto assault weapons" being owned by Americans and millions more Americans legally packing heat than those who carried 25 years ago, has gone down. So the anti gunners-in order to convince the sheeple that things are getting worse, have started fixating on "mass shootings" even though California has averaged slightly less than 5 deaths a year over the last three decades.

I wasn't bringing up weapons. The problem isn't weapons.

I doubt the young man in Utah was a "crook." But, once he got a hold of a gun, he certainly turned into a murderer right quick.

Common sense tells us that gun laws will never stop people from killing people with guns. America will not outlaw alcohol in spite of the tens of thousands of deaths each year attributed to alcohol abuse, and Americans will never outlaw guns for all in spite of the dozens of deaths each year attributed to guns.

Nobody or no place is safe from gun violence, even beautiful, serene Hawaii.

There is no place on earth which is totally safe from murder, but areas in the US which are posted gun-free have been the sites of some of the worst shootings in the country.

But, the RW argues, how will they protect themselves without their precious guns ?

We have found that it is nearly impossible to make everyone safe from random gun violence, even in schools with armed guards posted. We don't need nonsense gun laws to protect us. We need to pray to God to protect us or to take us to heaven if we die.

It is important to remember that most Americans do not want to trade gun rights for unproven theoretical protection which a disarmed populace will not offer.

this woman was gunned down by her husband in North Carolina. why do we pretty much never talk about the women who are gunned down by their husbands/boyfriends/exes??

Talk about victims of gun violence will never make it logical to disarm all Americans with the untested hope that will stop gun violence. Common sense tells us disarming good Americans will never lead to crooks giving up their guns.

The left wants-
- open borders with Mexico
- a ban on guns in the USA

Are the cartels going to give up their guns too? They're present in all 50 states.

And they cannot see the harm in communist policies. May God deliver us from the growing insanity of our depraved politicians.

the anti gun movement is not a public safety movement, but a wing of the Democrat Party, that wants to harass and hassle pro gun voters, while pandering to slow witted voters who think gun control makes them safer

two people killed as in Hawaii does not qualify it as a "mass shooting".

If it did qualify as a mass shooting then large democrat cities in the US with strict local gun laws are by far the most common sites of mass shootings in the country.

The only entity that has called for no borders that I know of was the Wall Street Journal some years ago. And if you can refer me to a bill liberals have introduced to ban guns in the USA, I would be interested.

If by "coming to our senses" is meant to suggest "outlawing guns in everyone's hands so that crooks won't have access to them" then that is silly. We do need to find ways to keep bad guys from getting guns but outlawing guns for everyone will never get guns out of the hands of bad guys.

The Utah governor said this...
"Parents and grandparents, secure your firearms!" Herbert said in a statement.
How about a law requiring firearms to be secure in homes with minor children? Or is that too radical for the gun-toting snowflakes.

We have. It's already almost always illegal to shoot people.

We don't need to strengthen gun laws so much as we need to strip excessive legal protections for violent criminals, condemn more violent criminals to death and massively shorten the time period between a death sentence and execution.

Disarming SOME individuals will save lives. 52 women a month are shot and killed by an intimate partner. That is horrendous.

Every month, an average of 52 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner. Nearly 1 million women alive today have reported being shot or shot at by intimate partners, and 4.5 million women have reported being threatened with a gun. In more than half of mass shootings over the past decade, the perpetrator shot a current or former intimate partner or family member as part of the rampage. The ripple effects of firearms in the hands of an abuser extend far beyond the intimate relationship—affecting children who witness or live with it and the family members, coworkers, and law enforcement officers who respond to it.

We could possibly save hundreds of lives if we somehow could make all guns disappear from America, from good and bad people alike, and we could save tens of thousands of lives if we could make all alcohol disappear from America. Why do people not talk about alcohol-related deaths as much as gun related deaths, especially since abuse of alcohol kills ten times more people than do guns?
