Trump’s own national security team is afraid of him. They don’t trust him,and they know that he does not have the discipline, the courage or the intelligence to act as commander in chief in a real crisis.

Nobody trusts him. Nobody.

Trump can bury us in a war before Congress (be they GOP or “progressive Marxist socialist”) can do anything about it.

Perhaps you should take the time to learn something about foreign policy, and try to think more than ten seconds forward, rather than looking at everything through an 11 minute long jingoistic hyper partisan mirror.

Trump has ordered more troops to the Persian Gulf, and then turned right around and suggested that the attacks on tankers in the Straits of Hormuz is “no big deal”.

Which is it?

But then, this is typical Trump in a crisis. He waffles, tries to take all sides of every argument (so he can say he won because column B was the way things turned out), and avoid responsibility (another Trump trait).

It has been the consistent policy of the United States to guarantee the free passage of Persian Gulf oil from all producers, and to act as a force for stability, if only to keep the oil flowing, since 1971, when the British turned that responsibility over to the US.

It is the reason we went to war to kick Sadaam out of Kuwait.

But Trump knows absolutely nothing about foreign policy, history or geopolitics (I doubt that he can find the Straits of Hormuz on a map).

So no one trusts Trump. He has upended almost every single major long term US committement and thoroughly betrayed the Atlantic Charter and betrayed the legacy of Churchill and Roosevelt.

The world is not counting on US leadership any more.

They know that our leader is a fool, and, consequently, they know they can’t trust the US to lead.

They also know that this crisis is something that Trump caused.

I am not a "progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA or Democrat" and I don't want to see us go to war over a stupid drone. A drone is an unmanned piece of machinery that can be replaced at the cost of a (relatively) few dollars.

I wouldn't exchange a single American life for one.

War is not a game, it is a deadly serious endeavor. War should be avoided unless it is absolutely necessary, and then it should be pursued with absolute commitment aimed at a swift and utter victory at the least cost to citizen's lives possible.

It never ceases to amaze me how willing politicians are to spend lives and money trying to change who is in control in various nations in and around the Middle East only to end up manufacturing more hatred and ultimately terrorism for some later generation to deal with.

There is uncertainty on who is harming boats in the region, there is uncertainty on who shot down this drone, etc.

Time and time again we cause our own problems, and now we have the Trump administration turning the guns towards Iran.
