US-EU agreement announced. China truce extension expected.

Then you are taking a tiny bit of data tht is inconclusive.

It's data that describes the inflation occurring over the most recent month. It's our most current data.

That being said, I won't hang my hat on it 'till I see more data in the coming months.

But I did toss it out in response to your claim that Trump's numbers are better than what Biden left him. Because a 3 tenths difference is virtually "unchanged" and within the noise floor, as can be seen by my speaking to JUN's 3 tenths - and your subsequent rebuttal of it.

You do realize who will be paying all these tariffs, right?
I realize I could be paying some percentage of the tariffs. If rebates are executed, I could be getting more of a rebate of my taxes than the tariffs negatively affected me. That is if they eventually negatively affect me. So far they do not seem to be.

Because they are not yet in effect.

Nah.

You’re making egotistical posts in which you purport to know better than over 170 other governments. I can’t take such a person seriously.
Sure…which is why every single country who engages in international trade utilizes tariffs. The whole world is stupid, including every government that’s ever utilized tariffs, but you know better than all 170+ of them, eh?

Get out of here with that nonsense.
Protectionism is used to prevent the decay or nurture infant industry. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Please continue. It's fun highlighting partisan ignorance.

LOL. So I'm paying more to get some of it back in a stimulus check?

This is doing nothing with extra steps.
consider a tariff a tax.
you get back services instead of a check. But probably you'll get nothing. It will go to the MASSIVE DEBT relief and have little effect

Great news. Now American companies can make Champagne, BMWs and Kerrygold.

“Pushing for” or “currently implementing” to force trade partners to the negotiation table?

Those are two very different things.

Nearly every trade deal Trump has declared has around a 15% tariff rate.

No the real answer is that the tax is initially absorbed by the international seller.

What you mean the international seller? The foreign exporter? If thats youe claim then no it isnt, the initial cost is to the importer.

Which is what we are seeing currently.

The US was always going to sign a trade deal with the EU because not doing so would be simple madness.
This was always going to happen no matter who was in charge.

You say that like they were already planning trade talks without Trump. This only happened because Trump pushed for it.

The EU went along with it because they need a boost to their economy. They have a third more population and three quarters the GDP of the US.

"Wins"? It takes two to make a deal. If the EU felt they were getting stiffed there would be no deal.

I wouldn't start celebrating just yet...

Excellent deal for the US. It looks like the EU literally got nothing in the deal.
You call an increase in your tariff taxes a win? Only in Trumpland does increasing living costs result in celebration.

We have great California sparkling wine. BMWs suck and what makes butter with a little milk added to soften it, better?

how are liberals/left spinning all these trade deals ?

gawd they have to hate it

Lol the ideal trade deal is no barriers whatsoever.

Y'all are celebrating shifting deck chairs around the Titanic and pretending it's "winning." ****ing cult behavior.

And now the prices of all those substitutes will go up because the competition just got 15% more expensive.

yep, just like, for example:

Trump’s July 8 announcement of a 50% tariff on copper imports beginning August 1 sent prices surging 13% in one day, up to a record high of $5.69 per pound.

It was the biggest single-day increase in copper prices on record going back to 1968, according to FactSet.And those prices could just be a sign of things to come. A 50% tariff would be a “massive tax on consumers of copper,” Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, said in a note.

TACO bitch Trump folds yet again.
Trump is all hat and no cattle.
He needs to get on a spine donor list.

This may amaze you but Europe is not a single country.
They also aren't as bothered about the economy as you guys and would rather have better public services than a 2% bump in the economic figures.

I'd rather have our holiday entitlement than the US economy any day.

It was simple English. Far more trade deals were expected earlier this month based on this president's hyperbole. Exponentially less have been delivered and well after the deadline, with now an extension set for China. If someone doesn't like their hyperbole called out, then perhaps not making ridiculous claims is a start.
Ok, you can fret about the African countries all you want.

He's getting the only important ones done. The market is at an all-time high, inflation is under control, and America is thriving already.

Everything you predicted didn't happen. And you hate it.

well america was "thriving" before trump.
inflation is heading up, but "under control" is a nice vague weasel phrase used to hide specifics.
trump promised to LOWER prices, not have them go UP, correct?

You’re really upset about a mutually beneficial trade deal with the EU, eh? Why does it bother you so much when good things happen for our country?
Not a fan of the US economy or something?
Why is a 15% surtax on all imports from Europe "mutually beneficial"?

Why wasn't basically free trade better than this?

Exactly?

Basically free international trade was one of America's and the world's greatest post-WWII achievements. The economic benefits have been spectacular. Now Trump is seriously degrading that achievement.
