I disagree. A "national approach" may work for some things like distributing ventilators or PPE but in general letting states manage themselves is better, IMHO. The closer to the situation an official is the more likely he'll get things right. I don't want some pasty bureaucrat working in a cubicle in the basement of some Washington DC building dictating how California manages access to beaches, parks, etc.Exactly!
You too noticed the lack of a unified national approach.
The ease of travel these days means we need a nationwide approach.
Trump has been recalcitrant about saying and doing the things which've needed doing.
Matter of fact, Trump has pushed us backward with a number of the things he has said and done.
Biden's Treasury Secretary in waiting? Maybe FDA Director?
That's a bull**** answer and I think you know it. A total fallacy built on nonsensical progressive poppycock.Trump toady governors in AZ, AL, GA, TX, IA and FL (to name the most notorious losers) knew what he wanted and and did it and are now suffering greatly, desperately trying to catch up of a runaway train of virus infections and deaths in those states. It doesn't matter you don't accept that fact or not. It's a fact.
This all could have been ameliorated if Your Dear Dirtbag had done what even the most minimally competent leader would have and attacked the spread of this virus with every tool at his disposal. Instead he dithered and dismissed and deflected and happy-talked and, of course, lied out his ass about it. Then he pushed the opening up far too soon which we now see is going to result in even a worse economic year.
Exactly!

Gee whiz. What'd you expect after a 3 month shutdown of the economy? GDP growth? Yeah, like that was ever realistic.
The pandemic is a once in 100 years black swan event, a once in a lifetime event.
Some partisan blind chose to blame Trump for it. So tell me. How well in comparison are all the rest of the world's nation's economies are faring? Because the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of nation's leaders under estimated the impact, economic and otherwise, that this pandemic would have, and have done so from the start.
There was a potential pandemic in 2009.
But it was handled competently by our national leadership.
Remember? Nah.
You were probably too busy crying about the deficit and the collapsed economy from the last bozo who crashed the economy in 2008.
If only Newsome and Cuomo had acted 2 weeks sooner all this could have been prevented
Wasn't Trump's call - Cuomo, Newsom and several other governors told him that. You mean trump

How many posts til we hear the usual suspect blame this on the Democratic controlled House, in preparation for the inevitable acceptance of a horrible, disastrous economy starting in November when Biden wins?
Four more years! He did say he was going to run the government just like he ran his businesses, right into the ground. Can america claim bankruptcy?
So you assertion is that all pandemics are the same? That they are all directly comparable? Seriously?
Recall the your accclaimed 'competently by our national leadership' failed to resupply the stockpile they had consumed. This is what you'd call 'competently by our national leadership'? Leaving the cupboard bare?
Complicit political propaganda media at work there, clearly.
Who's that? The guy that prohibited banks from gauging their risk exposure? Forcing them into riskier policies?
You are a leftist. From you posts that's pretty clear. Have fun in your burned out Liberal / Progressive / Democrat led cities where all the sane have fled.
Truman. "The buck stops with me"
Trump "it was the governors fault"
The Governors: "You don't have the power".
If any of you three were capable of honesty, you would admit that you supported wholeheartedly the shutting down of the economy that led to the economic collapse that people like me warned about. But none of you libs will let honesty interfere with your hackish propaganda.

So what?Trump recommended the shutdown
So what?
MarketWatch lies, or at least distorts. That 32.9% number is a ANNUALIZED calculation, not an actual metric. The economy actual shrunk 9.5% last quarter. Probably been worse if Trump didn't personally force every state to totally open up (sarcasm alert).

You sir are barking up the wrong tree. Mismanagement starts at the top and works its way down. If we had just given people two grand a month and told everyone to stay inside we could have avoided a lot of this disaster but no. The gop and their love of the dollar just couldn't let that happen so now with our slipshod way of addressing this virus we are screwed. One hundred fifty thousand dead and counting.
What republicans, independents, libertarians or any others do you suppose sent their checks back? We didn't close down enough and then we opened too soon and now it's time to pay the piper. In the end it will cost us way more than if folks just stayed home.
And if the vaccines fall through, we’re gonna have to do it again.,, the right way.
Right now, we’ve got a projection for another 80k deaths or so by November. We could bring that to minimal numbers (like the rest of the developed world did) if we issue stay at home orders and they are followed in 6 weeks.
We could have done it in April, but we have too many selfish assholes in this country compared to the rest of the developed world.
The EU, with about the same population of the US, has less than 200 deaths per day (closer to 100) and is effectively testing and contact tracing.
We could be there too.
