I just watched that press conference. Am I the only one who thinks that presentation was intended to make it politically impossible for Barr to deep-six that investigation? I know it's claimed that Barr knew about the existence of the investigation, but after that press conference I wonder just how much he really knew.

I wouldn't doubt it, Cardinal. I've been long seeing what appears to be a battle between SDNY and the Trump-DOJ.

And I still maintain SDNY will charge Trump in the Trump-Daniels-Cohen affair, once he leaves office and Barr is removed by the new incoming President. Please note today's charges are FEC violations - the same violations that sent-up Micheal Cohen for 3 years.

I strongly suspect there is quite a bit more going-on behind the scenes at SDNY than we know, and let's not forget they work closely with NYS AG Office as well.

Very possible. The just released SDNY charging document has a lot of detailed speech in quotation marks, implying SDNY had access to the individuals' conversations in some manner.

I thought your belief that Trump would be charged after he was out of office was hopelessly naive. After that press conference, I'm no longer so certain of that.

That doesn't mean I'm confident he'll be charged. But on my list of "Things That are Likely to Happen, in Order of Probability," trump getting charged just went from #100 to #80.

If you look at Giuliani's actions he DID flip on Trump. He's just doing it in a way to incriminate him in public by appear to defend him. He's getting Trump's jaywalking ticket down to first degree murder.

BTW - It was verbally remarked moments ago by a cable pundit, that the President sent John Dowd to meet with either the suspect's defense team or Rudy's legal team. If so, Trump might be trying to establish an attorney-privilege block to keep them from talking.

I'd like to see this last claim (John Dowd) second sourced in print and clarified though, before I claim it as fact.
