Turkey Offensive Begins

I didn't say I agreed, or disagreed. I'm saying that if the Democrats and Republicans in Congress are so upset about Trump pulling troops out of the region, they should declare war.

The Senate has been on a "no vote on anything unless Trump agrees" mood and this was Trump's decision. You think they will vote for war?

You are wasting your uninformed and useless words.

Then they should STFU about it.

Turkey is a NATO allie. What are we supposed to do? Declare war on Turkey?

You just tacitly declared war on the Kurds. What's the difference? Remember when the USSR was a valuable ally and then became the Mortal Enemy virtually overnight? Alliances are made and are broken all the time, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the US turned against another NATO member if it was geo-politically convenient to do so. Precedent you see.

Well, then Congress should force the president's hand by declaring war on Syria and/or Turkey.

I don't jolly ol' England gearing up to go help the Kurds. What the hell's the hold up?

From the early days of Saturday Night Live, Dan Akyroyd to Jane Curtin. Me to Bozo the President:

"Jane you ignorant slut"

Jane Curtin was not an ignorant slut and the character she played that night was not an ignorant slut.

You Donald are an ignorant slut and you will open your skirts for any, ANY personal gratuity and you don't give a damn who suffers for your indecencies.

How many of your kids are in Syria? How about any kids of the other people here pimping for permanent US meddling in the ME? These people need to put their money where their mouths are.

I think it's the upside down nature of it. America used to be counted on for being a force for good in the world - in this case, preventing genocide would have been a no brainer for past (pre 2016) better versions of yourselves.

But, for better or for worse, it would appear that the world needs to face reality and take you guys down from your pedestal. Ultimately this is a good thing - better for us (the rest of the world) than for you in the long run, but a good thing nonetheless. It's just too bad that so many people die when you guys change your mind on who you want to be.

It's certainly one of those instances where US political and economic clout could be used to curtail this kind of incursion by a NATO ally without the threat of war. It's odd that apdst thinks it's a binary choice between declaring war and letting Turkey forcibly remove a people from their land; stranger still since Trump threatened an economic war should Turkey not comply. Apparently his "unmatched wisdom" didn't work well enough to inform us what those parameters are.

Don't be obtuse. Nobody was calling for a US invasion of Turkey. Turkey is crossing the border into Syria after the Kurds thanks to Donald the DEPLORABLE or more accurately, Donald Vladimir Trumpkin.

FYI: the smiley face emoticon at the end of my response meant I was joking. Apdst asked what I felt was a silly question, so I responded in kind.

Then they should stop crying about it.

Abysmal response. DonDon was the catalyst for this mess and now you want to propose absurdities to resolve it. Go find a propaganda forum please or a forum for the infinitely unscrupulous.

As expected after Trump's cut and run, the Turks are on the move in NE Syria.

So, is this as Trump and Erdogan say, a war on terror? Or is it a sanctioned slaughter of the Kurds, like what everyone else says?

Tell us where you stand.

This a no-win situation that Trump has put us in (normal for him - the Incompetent one).

1) It favors Russia, Syria and Turkey (2 of 3 who are enemies of ours) and hurts the rest of our allies (France, England, and Germany) that still have boots on the ground in Syria
2) It diminishes us for "cutting and running" on our promises to defend our allies (the Kurds helped us stop ISIS).
3) It will allow ISIS to come back again. Trump's promise to get rid of ISIS and keep our country safe now goes out the window.
4) It will cement the idea worldwide that the United States cannot be depended on and that it sides with Dictators and Autocrats. Democracy is now past tense.
5) It makes our president someone that can't make decisions for the country's benefit. All his decisions are made for the political benefit of Trump with his base.
6) It makes our country that stands alone as our allies were not consulted on this decision that affects our allies and their men in Syria.
7) It makes Trump an Autocrat or a dictator as this decision, which affects our country, was made without consulting Congress.

So what else is new? We have an incompetent president that sides with autocrats and dictators, does not respect the constitution, and thinks he does not need to consult anyone else because he alone "can do it all".

C'mon Trump supporters, defend him some more so we can end up "destroying it all". That is what you want, isn't it?

That is what they want. They do not love this country. They are not patriots. They certainly do not understand this country. They may well even be paid adversaries of this country. Time to drop the niceties and the innuendo. It is what it is.

They are supporters of Donald Vladimir Trumpkin.

BBC Radio 4 news (5.00pm GMT) just confirmed Turkish forces have attacked civilian targets along the border. British, French and German governments are protesting against Turkey's actions. The danger of the release, by the Kurds, of 20,000 foreign (ISIS), fighters is now a very real danger-let alone the humanitarian aspect of the refugee camps now under Turkish bombs.
Trump has truly ****ed-up. This is America's problem now. You can thank Trump.

Which is all wonderful news to Putin.

Lets not defect from current events shall we. If you want to start going backwards like that....Bush 43, Chaney and Bolton got us involved in Syria. But at this point, even that is irrelevant.
