With the coronavirus pandemic raging and his campaign faltering in the polls, his appearance amounted to a fiery reboot of his re-election effort, using the holiday and an official presidential address to mount a full-on culture war against a straw-man version of the left that he portrayed as inciting mayhem and moving the country toward totalitarianism.

Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values and indoctrinate our children,” Mr. Trump said, addressing a packed crowd of sign-waving supporters, few of whom wore masks. “Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities.”
Lawyers are taught that when the law is on your side, pound the law; and when the facts are on your side, pound the facts -- and when neither the facts or law are on your side, pound the table. Trump's Mt. Rushmore speech is the equivalent of pounding the table, as his governance, such as it is, leaves America far worse and weaker than it was when he took over. That's why he needed to invent a straw-man enemy -- "far-left fascism," tearing down statutes of our founders {Confederate generals are our founders?}
An example of totalitarianism is HIS actions to use the wheels of government to punish his enemies, like those who testified before the Impeachment Hearings, and reward friends by allowing them to go free after committing high crimes.
The idea that Joe Biden is somehow a radical leftist is as silly as it sounds.
