Trump to sign order to interpret Judaism as a nationality

Why is it problematic? Seems reasonable. Not all people of Jewish origin or ancestry are religious, and I don't think an anti-Semite really cares which Jews observe the Sabbath and which ones don't.
Judaism is a religion, not a nationality.

Confusing and problematic how. This is rather clean cut in premise.
Though to be honest, I'm not sure that CNN is the best source to use on such a topic. Seeing as all they're going to try and do is cast this as some sort of racist agenda, or whatever lame tactic they can think of this time around.
Why not? Is there some factual evidence presented that you feel is inaccurate?

Targeting Jews in this way, even if supposedly for good reason, makes me very, very nervous.
Exactly. Do we next designate Muslims as Palestinians? Christians as Americans? Where does it end?

You would need to read literature about the subject. Jewish scholars have written about a 'Jewish nation' for hundreds of years. It was meant to signify that Jews living around the world on different continents were part of a collective nation unto themselves, regardless of the physical nation they lived in.
If the Jews collectively are a nation, then we'd have to accept Muslims collectively have a caliphate and Christians collectively have a Holy Empire. Obviously, none of this is true.

Precisely, but, the real question is - is this the inherent goal? I believe it probably is. Then again, this abysmal, sickening POTUS has done everything he can to shove our noses in it. So what difference does it make, truly?
Here's what I think: This is likely strongly transactional, as are many of Trump's actions.

Just as the Republicans rewarded their donors with tax legislation, Trump is rewarding his big- buck Jewish donors here.

More like than not, and this is how he operates in general, although I am not sure I understand why those donors would want this.

Well - I must admit it's easier to just get rid of Trump, than try & figure him out. 3 NOV 2020 can't come quick enough.

And 11/4/20 will be a day celebrated, or utterly lamented. I hope he is ousted. We will see.

Uh, what? Judaism is a nationality? So, those Jews residing here are not American citizens? Or are they all dual citizens, now?

I find this confusing and likely problematic ...

It does strike me as odd:

1. Jewish people are now not American first?

2. Is the freedumb brigade OK with this weird assault on free speech?

3. How do Trump's Nazi fans feel about this? Are they loving that Jews are no longer Real Americans?

Thanks, but something much bigger is driving the push to declare criticism of Israel to be antisemitism:..........................~
Why sure.

Like:
Jewish leaders were cool to the proposal as well.

"If President Trump truly wanted to address the scourge of anti-Semitism he helped to create, he would accept responsibility for his role emboldening white nationalism, perpetuating anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, and repeating stereotypes that have led to violence targeting Jews,"
Of course if one's intellectual capacities have become so cluttered with Jew-hatred as yours, such assessment would go right over your head.

Perhaps out of sheer personal convenience.

But that cannot detract from the fact that this move, imprudent as it may be, is initiated by the likes of YOU.

You running around in indignation over it is like an arsonist demanding that everyone be prohibited from ever shouting "fire".

The Israeli lobby is behind all of this. If liberal Jews are really infuriated by the antics of the President, then they need to address their fellow Jews who are putting him up to this. But, they are not doing so. Instead they're using Trump as the poster boy for antisemitism, while also readily accepting the many gifts he showers them with. Classic subterfuge on display, and yes, sadly many people can't spot what is going on here. I don't see any liberal Jewish leaders taking the Israeli lobby to task for their relationship with Donald Trump, aside from those you despise like Philip Weiss.

Judaism is a religion, not a nationality.

Well Trump says that progressive Jews aren't being loyal enough to Israel, which he clearly believes is more important than loyalty to America. Trump has the backing of the Zionist movement, which 90% of American Jews support the agenda of. A nation within a nation is what Trump is proposing, and I don't see the Jewish community offering much of a backlash against his idea, aside from writing a few Op-Eds. When the Jewish community opposes something, they take to the streets in protest. We're not seeing that here.

No issue from my end as to "what" Trump is doing. It seems more along the line of holding these places feet to the fire, when they forget themselves. But I've already seen several post by people who either work for CNN, or are getting contracted to write for them. Trying to sell this as some sort of racist move by Trump. Much less what we've seen them say about it on the air for the last few days.

Them trying to sell it as some form of massive negative, is what I've come to expect from them at this point.
