Trump to host G7 at his own Florida resort property

Trump to host G7 at his own Florida resort property

I guess the guy figured the time to enrich himself from both foreign and domestic taxpayer might be closing down soon, with impeachment and all... So, should hurry up and do it!

Right on!

I bet all the properties that they really considered had Trump name on them.

:lamo Alternative facts, folks... just move along...

I guess the last act of Trump before leaving will be to sell White House itself and its land to Trump Org; so all future Presidents rent from him and his offspring.

So back to crying about nothing is it?

Great we have a war that is currently being fought against two forces that supposedly broke their own ceasefire treaties.

We have riots and protest in China, which are being headed against by violence and other human rights abuses. Not to mention the fact that China's own censorship has been leaking into our own system.

We also have the elections coming up and just how laughable some of the DNC hopefuls are being. Juxtaposed with O'Rourke's whole "we will take your guns" idiocy...

But now, you people want to bitch about where the G7 summit might be held..... give me a ****ing break from this stupidity.

Let me see if I got your new set of excuses for the Dear Leader... We should not care about Trump's blatant corruption because ....

1. We have a war that is fought against two forces? Err... Are we now fighting both Kurds AND Turks? I did not know. I assume you mean the war that Trump started by pulling out US troops which Turkey would never have attacked AND telling Turks to please go ahead and proceed with exterminating our yesterday's allies against ISIS.

2. "We" have riots and protest in China and therefore US President corruption should be overlooked... We? Huh?

3. You don't like Democratic candidates. A shocker! But hey, just as good as any excuse for US President to be corrupt. Cool!

I'll be generous and give you a few more excuses you can use:

4. A lot of children are starving around the world.... So Trump corruption is justified

5. The Sun rises in the East... So Trump corruption is justified

6. There might be some asteroid coming to kill us all... So Trump corruption is justified

7. Jesus is coming. And Trump was clearly chosen by God.... So Trump corruption is justified

8. Other people have been known to be corrupt... So Trump corruption is justified

9. Get over it

10. It's all fake news. Truth is not truth. Get used to alternative facts.

Quite right.

It is highly improper to cry about something that is still unproven.

The correct course of conduct is to chant

Did you have a problem with Obama selling millions of books while he was President? I didn't

Do I care if government business gets conducted at a Trump property ....if they are charging above and beyond normal rates....yes that's a problem ....but that's a problem with any location.

They vetted it and there is no problem with rules and laws.

I know this will never be acceptable to Dems...oh well....as George Soros says...Move On:lol:

False equivalency is one of the more popular tools in the Trump media fake news handbag.

And now you're back to crying about something that has been dead for a while.

Then again, the whole issue with that was that she was actually caught breaking the law by destroying evidence. Which is why the call was redoubled, after it was shown that simple being a Clinton let her get away with such violations.

Though it's been a good year since I've heard the lock her up chant. But if far reaching hyperbole is all you have, then I don't blame you for using it.

Due the media and the Democrats setting their hair on fire over holding the G-7 at Doral, Trump says they will look for another location.

Trump scraps plans to host 2020 G7 summit at Doral resort amid Dem uproar | Fox News

That's not why at all.

Foreign emoluments

The prohibition against officers receiving a present or emolument is essentially an antibribery rule to prevent influence by a foreign power. At the Virginia Ratifying Convention, Edmund Randolph, a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, identified the Clause as a key "provision against the danger ... of the president receiving emoluments from foreign powers."

The language of the Emoluments Clause is both sweeping and unqualified. See 49 Comp. Gen. 819, 821 (1970) (the "drafters [of the Clause] intended the prohibition to have the broadest possible scope and applicability"). It prohibits those holding offices of profit or trust under the United States from accepting "any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever" from "any . . . foreign State" unless Congress consents. U.S. Const, art. I, § 9, cl. 8 (emphasis added). . . . The decision whether to permit exceptions that qualify the Clause's absolute prohibition or that temper any harshness it may cause is textually committed to Congress, which may give consent to the acceptance of offices or emoluments otherwise barred by the Clause.

Hosting the G7 at your own resort is a direct violation of the clause.
Hosting ANY event that involves direct payments to your resorts or other properties from a foreign government or official is a direct violation of the clause.
Doesn't matter how much you love Trump, or how unfair you think it might be, or how much you hate Democrats. It is the law.

Gotta love this....

On Friday, new legislation to block the plan was introduced by Democrats in Congress ... The bill, called “Trump’s Heist Undermines the G-7 (THUG) Act”, would have cut off all federal funding for the move, and require the White House to turn over all relevant documents that show how administration officials decided on Doral.

Guessing that's the real reason for cancellation by the way...

Gotta love this....

I rather suspect that the Act stood a good chance of passage in the House of Representatives, which would have made it rather difficult for the US government to actually pay the bills at the high priced "Trumpalodge" and that would have meant no profit to be distributed to the owners of "Trumpalodge Inc.".

That might have had some slight influence on the owners of "Trumpalodge Inc." to back out of the possible deal.

Trump said that he had offered to host the summit at no profit to himself to avoid concerns about “emoluments violations.” He said that if it were legally permissible, he’d offered to host the summit at no cost to the U.S.. But now the taxpayers will have to pay around $40 million at another location.

If his word was worth anything that might count. Sadly I wouldn't discount that he felt there was some backdoors he could use so that the money didn't look to be filling his pockets, while it was.

I'd much rather pay the $40 million.

Trump said that he had offered to host the summit at no profit to himself ...

.. and you pretended to believe him? :lamo

And wait... I thought he had no knowledge of his non-divested businesses that he does not run anymore? And he also said he does not talk to his kids about Trump businesses too...

How would he know if there is profit that would be made... He is not in charge of that, right? Oops

It doesn't matter if he pockets a profit or not, but in any case, since his lips moving is an indication he's lying, I simply do not believe a word he says about anything anyway.
That's what happens with liars.

So, if he says he'd offer to host it at no profit to himself, when it's Trump saying those words, it sounds like "I'll DOUBLE my profit".

Because he's a liar.
He lies.
About everything, even things he doesn't have to lie about.

Yeah, why worry about corrupt self dealing by POTUS. Let's all jump headlong straight to banana republic status. What the ****, right? None of it matters!

So an accusation is all there is?

Because there is nothing inherently wrong with holding the G7 there.

Sure, there's nothing "inherently" wrong with Presidents or Mayors or Governors directing state business to their own pockets. Corrupt self dealing is how it's done! Why would the proles worry about it? You win power, you get to enjoy the spoils that come with exercising power! It's how it's worked for thousands of years!

Trump scraps plans to host 2020 G7 summit at Doral resort amid Dem uproar | Fox News

Trump doesn't give a damn about Democrats or the media. What caused the reversal is those Republicans who hadn't quite sold ALL their soul to Trump were unwilling to defend this crap, because it's indefensible on the merits.

But it's good of you to repeat Trump's talking points!

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
....Therefore, based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020. We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately. Thank you!

The emoluments clause doesn't actually mention "profits" but instead uses the incredibly broad and sweeping term, "of any kind whatever."

Besides, "no profit to himself" is a big enough loophole to fly a 747 through and have lots of room on all sides to spare. If he really wanted to host it at Doral, the proper way would be to draw up an agreement that defined "profits" or costs or whatever, and then work with Congress to get approval for it. But that's the proper way, and Trump prefers to just announce it as if he's not constrained by...anything but his own reckless impulses.

Strange, I keep hearing the word corrupt... yet never see any examples or proof of the matter... funny that little case of happenstance.
