I cannot believe Trump found it within his evil soul to do this ................. good for the children ...........

@JaxAlemany

An HHS official tells @weijia that there will NOT be special efforts made to reunite children who have already been separated from their families bc of the Zero Tolerance Policy, despite Trumps EO. Process will proceed for minors currently in the unaccompanied children program.

Wow

Wait - the same family separations we've been hearing for days could only be fixed by the Democrats, because Clinton signed a law and Obama did it too? The same actions yesterday the Administration said they were not going to apologize for? The same action that Jeff Sessions said was sanctioned by the Bible?

How confusing.

It's almost like Trump was full of ****.

Trump signs executive order to stop family separations at border | Fox News

There is now an executive order signed by the president to stop separating children from their illegal alien parents when detained for unlawfully crossing the US border. It appears congress is also to act on this as well.

True.

One note: the precise order is that congress said it would be acting tomorrow in bipartisan fashion. Then Trump announced the order and tweeted about the need for compassion. Then he signed it.

I'm not sure why congress even needs to act. Obama detained families together but a court ordered him to release them because it violated a 1997 settlement in a suit against Clinton's admin (Reno in particular), setting conditions for detention of children. (They were to be sent to families/relative or put in "the least restrictive conditions" out of I don't know what options). He then put them in a program involving monitoring, ties with an adviser and legal aid, and this apparently resulted in 99.6% of the families showing up in immigration court as required.

And from what I gather, Trump's order is about detaining families together.....which is what Obama did and was ordered not to do. Soooo... it ain't over yet.

There actually isn't any law requiring detention. That all comes from the notion that the existence of a law requires 100% enforcement of the law, in turn the non-logic goes that anything less than 100% enforcement is non-enforcement, in turn that non-enforcement is a violation of the law or not following the law. Of course that isn't true. The executive, be it the president or a local prosecutor, has wide discretion in what to charge and how. But anyway, if they intend on passing a law, let 'em. It'll be good to avoid a potential repeat of this banal and pointless cruelty in the future.

Frankly, it's all theater. The asylum-seekers aren't the problem. And while you will almost certainly disagree, nor are tax-paying people who've been here for 20 years, assimilated, etc. The problem are those who come and commit crimes: the very people Obama targeted, which people Trump is diverting resources away from.

Anyway, as I've said a few times today: if people really are truly worried about them disappearing, why not just put on eletronic monitoring equipment? Works well in our normal criminal "justice" system. If the families truly want asylum, they'll comply. If they have other purposes, we're actually pretty good at tracking down people who tamper with the equipment.

This never had to be an issue, but for Team Trump desiring a political "win". Now they've got an "oh, ****, hope nobody notices that or if they do, covers for me anyway"

Oh, so I guess he wasn't beholden to some prior law that demanded that parents be separated from their children after all, was he?

Actually his EO defies a court order, the law has not changed.

I would rather those kids, along with their parents stay in their home countries.

This is an ignorant statement. Do you honestly know WHY these immigrants try to come here? It’s because they will DIE if they stay where they are. It is human instinct to flee danger, so I don’t blame them for trying to avoid that danger and start a better life here, especially for their kids. How can you blame anyone who is just trying to survive and give themselves a better life? I bet you would do the same. My husband was born in El Salvador and escaped the war there, thankfully. He is the most hard working person I have ever met! He supports our family and makes over six figures. He put himself through college while working 2 full time jobs, started his own business and supported himself simultaneously and never took a dime from anyone. That cannot be said about many Americans, myself included, as I have relied a lot on my parents through college. And to think if he would have stayed in El Salvador, he probably would have been killed by the war or ended up in a gang. Think twice before you go trashing immigrants and making ignorant statements about how they should stay in their own countries. Easy for you to say. This country wouldn’t even exist the way it does without immigrants. They have a lot to contribute and contrary to your beliefs have much to offer. But I know trump tells you differently and believes all immigrants are criminals who should stay in their own country so your statement doesn’t shock me.

By law, when adults are detained and criminally prosecuted, their children cannot be housed with them in jail.

No, Donald Trump?s separation of immigrant families was not Barack Obama?s policy | PunditFact

Trumps new EO will now ignore a court order.

Exactly, I guess Trump doesn't have enough people scouring social media, because in social media the libtards already lost the argument. When presented with facts they resorted to the usual line... I'm disappointed in Trump on this one. He was on the right side of this, and he caved, my guess is the first lady was in his ear, and this is no way to run a country!

They should fight to clean up their country.

Yeah, right? Because we can't have anyone who wasn't born here come into this country. If you aren't born here of American parents, you should never set foot here. Or if you do, make your visit as brief as possible, and then get out.

If you bring there here, it won't take long for here to become there.

This is a good move (which I will not applaud because they shouldn't have been separating children in the first place), but didn't Trump and his team claim that "only Congress can fix this"? Seems like that's not true at all.

To be completely and possibly unreasonably fair, I think everything done is and was legal.

They just decided to apply that law in a way that ensured this result, which is why I condemn their actions.

Trump will want a “win” for this EO! As someone pointed out earlier, like the arsonist who helps extinguish the fire he set to the adulation of the crowd............huzzah, huzzah......
