Trump says he will have a press conference at White House on coronavirus at 6 pm ET

A dangerous idiot.

Trump shut down the NSC's entire global health security unit, eliminated the NSC and DHS's epidemic teams, gutted the global health section of the CDC, and proposed huge cuts to both the CDC and the National Institutes of Health as recently as two weeks ago.

Yep, his war with science has caught up to him on this front.

Trump is an idiot.

The democrats have taken this outbreak as another way to attack the president. After all it is an
election year.

Trump says he will have a press conference at White House on coronavirus at 6 pm ET

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he will discuss the deadly coronavirus outbreak during a news conference at 6 p.m. ET with officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The President is, according to his first Secretary of State—"a moron". And Mr. Tillerson has been proven correct again and again. Trump lies all the time every day—why should we believe anything this carnival barker says?

It's not a big deal in the US right now. Jesus. You know damn well what I meant.

Nor is a Cat 5 hurricane that sits 100 miles off the coast, heading our way, a big deal, until it is. ... Meanwhile ignoring the threat makes the threat a bigger deal.

Our real experts are telling us this is a big deal. Even the financial markets are telling us this is a big deal. Fear not, the guy that "wrote" the Art of the [big] Deal is in charge.

With that kind of leadership, panic might actually be reasonable position to be taking.

It is fruitless to fight mother nature. The world could spend 500 trillion dollars fighting climate change and only make a dent, or the climate could still get worse after that. As humans we need to accept reality and adapt to the future, not try fighting a forest fire with a garden hose. It is the left who need to accept science that the Earth goes through periods of warming and cooling and right now we are in the warming stage. Instead of fighting a losing battle we should be spending our energies adapting to the new world.

That is a pretty non-responsive response... introducing climate change to a discussion about a potential pandemic? I did use the analogy of the hurricane off the coast to suggest that when you know a crisis is coming is the time to be prepared for that crisis. Much like the hurricane off the coast, it could turn and spare you rendering the preparation moot, but if you don't use the time you have to address the probable bad case scenario, you are going to be even worse off when the crisis hits. You use the time to prepare yourself to contain the damage to the least possible.

I am happy to argue your hopelessly naive view of climate change at another time.... but, hopeless is hopeless. Not much point spending my time on a hopeless cause such as people that go through life with their heads in the sand.
