Having been a soldier I know for a fact soldiers would rather not do that sort of ****. Stuff like that isn't as simple as alright troops today we are going to do a road march through such and such city and then they go hop on a LMTV or some other transportation, get dropped off and start marching. Stuff like that requires preparations that may take weeks, rehearsals, making sure their uniforms are tidy with lots of bothersome inspections and a lot of hurry up and wait and standing around.
Very true, the brass and troops hate the dog and pony show. When I was active, i found much of the ceremonial aspects of military life a waste of man power, especially as were expected to do more with less.
