Trump has failed

I am as much disheartened by the continued happy talk we hear even now. Happy talk does not help anything and its dangerous. Now the happy talk is how quickly we can bring the country's economy back up. We still cannot do enough testing and as such we do not know where the virus is going. We were supposed to have 1 million test kits two weeks ago. We had 330,000 a few days ago. We likely are up to about 600,000 today. That is still shy of 1 million and the 1 million were going to be late even if they made the date promised. We still likely need the number of tests suggested by the Scientists weeks ago, 5 million.

What swabs are being done are returning a result 4-5 days later. Some of those swabbed are remaining in hospital beds waiting for the test results to return which is contributing to the burn rate on PPE. So we are still not swabbing enough and not in enough places and the test results still take too long to come back and the burn rate on PPE is causing Medical staff to take risks and become infected. As I have said before once we let the virus go past us we have been chasing it, the most costly possible way to fight it in both health terms and economic terms.

Dr Birx and Fauci are trying to tread a fine line and they have both started to veer off the path they were on initially. Birx today was discussing antibody testing in an effort to explore the underlying rate of contagion that might be hidden by people simply having mild enough symptoms or that were asymptomatic such that they never pursued medical intervention. The death rate compared to the transmission or contagion rate might suggest that many many Americans got the virus and simply went through it without ever seeking or needing medical treatment. Makes some sense. This is one aspect of not testing early enough or broadly enough at high throughput. If a citizen got the virus and now has antibodies to it, maybe they can safely go back to work. Well that is fine. But we don't even have that antibody test yet.

Birx correctly commented that they do not want to go through an antibody test and wait for a result process. You are not going to convince people to come in to test to see if they had something they ignored unless its an instant test with results on the spot. Plus, they have to take blood for an antibody test, not everybody's cup of tea. So a pin prick is way preferred to a needle.

Birx would not commit to a date when the antibody test they want will be available which leads one to suggest the date ain't EASTER SUNDAY or sooner. I have no idea how many antibody tests will be required, probably more than the 5 million COVID-19 tests. Then there is the added complication of figuring out how much immunity the antibodies a person has is earning him.

So we still can't actually test for the virus itself broadly enough. We can't conduct the antibody test as yet and we certainly are not going to put soldiers on county borders to prevent people from traveling between counties. I think Birx is kidding herself commenting that "hopefully" when the time comes, people will not travel between counties. IS SHE KIDDING!!!!!! So Birx and Fauci are also now engaging in a little happy talk of their own though not nearly as dangerous or unrealistic as Trump's happy talk.

We just passed China and Italy for total cases today (82,000+) though our mortality rate is to this point much lower. However you can literally see our Healthcare Delivery System straining and that is in fact what eventually drives up the mortality rate higher than it should be. This patchwork of social distancing methods state to state and county to county is not helping us. Trump appears to want to make it worse.

No, it was bull****. A political cheap shot. I though Trump did a pretty good job stating the facts; There are indeed reporter and media who's first object is to unseat Trump. Would you expect him to kiss ass an obsequiously say something like "No, I think you're all doing a wonderful job of fairly and accurately reporting the news"? THAT would be a poor answer.

That wasn't the question. He ignored the question and totally trashed the reporter.

Terrible leader.

She was trying to tie his decisions and actions to re-election priorities. He shut her down. BFD.

Never mind, beyond your comprehension.

Hold on I’m going to the website to check my symptoms. The one the President stated would be done in record time, like no one has ever seen!!!!

You have failed. You and all the democrats have failed to remove a duly elected President by using lies, false evidence and partisan politics.

One thing is certain, Trump was not elected by a majority, so it's a fluke that he was elected.

the ONLY reason Trump is still in office is that the majority republican senate are spineless cowards, who have been intimidated by Trump's bullying, base rallying, meantweets, etc.

Were it not for the invertebrate Senate, there would be no Trump, because the evidence was there, an a number on the right have agreed on that point.

LOL, you're mprogrammed to spew the Dem party line, aren't you. Facts, logic, reason: those are alien concepts to you. Once again for possible comprehension YOUR SIDE opposed Trump's MID-JANUARY travel ban at a time WHO was saying there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission. (later turned out WHO was taking China's word for it).

Total horse manure, which I debunked in another response. So I'll repeat it
The Facts on Trump's Travel Restrictions - FactCheck.org
Trump said Democrats “loudly criticized and protested” his announced travel restrictions, and that they “called me a racist because I made that decision.” Trump is overstating Democratic opposition. None of the party’s congressional leaders and none of the Democratic candidates running for president have directly criticized that decision, ...

Yet you continue to spew this bogus narrative. Quit lying.

I don't appreciate being called a liar, Oscar
Here's my proof. You probably don't recognize the insignificant Dem in the lede picture, she works somewhere in the capital.

Proof of squat.

That had nothing to do with the recent action in China.

Your article states:

President Trump’s Muslim Ban is a hateful policy, born from bigotry, that denies both our country and millions of aspiring Americans a better future,” said Rep. Judy Chu of California, when she introduced legislation with Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware in April 2019.
[...]
own as the No Ban Act, the bill would reverse restrictions on the countries under the travel ban and strengthen provisions in the Immigration and Nationality Act that prohibit religious discrimination.

So it's about his past racist & bigoted bans, not the recent action in China, your bogus narrative of which I DEBUNKED.

Moreover,

the legislation seeks to:

The legislation would require that any future travel ban be temporary, subject to congressional oversight

Which, given who this president is, I would support.

Get your facts straight, lest someone think you are a......

never mind.

With America now having more cases than any other country on earth, is there still any doubt by any among us that Trump failed?

Was that as he said we are lucky to have him ams his people? Yea how?

He likes his numbers!!!

What "idiotic" Easter statement? That he wanted to take a look at ways to loosen up some requirements in some locations?

Idiotic AND ignorant. He is far more concerned with his re-election than the health of older/pregnant/at risk citizens. It's not his call to make- it belongs to the individual states- not an over reaching gubmint... (the table has turned there) He is a fool to think just because the virus hasn't hit the fly-over states that they are 'safe'. It is a far cry comparing rather isolated farms to the bulk of employers- the stores, distribution sites, factories, bars, food places....

But his claim about the fly-overs is ignorant. It is like watching a fuse burning toward a powder key and declaring- so far, so good...

Oklahoma is a great example- March 7th was our first confirmed case (Tulsa), March 26th (three weeks later) the number is 322 with 8 deaths STATE WIDE ... :(

Our major gathering places are closed, but still half our counties are reporting cases. If our State listens to the Orange Guy's gassy gut on this and reopen our economy the virus will spread like a grass fire with only a few isolated farms in the panhandle safe.

The Orange Guy isn't concerned about us, he is concerned about his re-election... :peace

The first three words told me all I needed to know about this post. It is indeed "idiotic and ignorant,"

Idiotic and ignorant sum it up.

Trump is failing the leadership test.

Fact check is wrong, I posted a link about the House looking to take action to fight .the ban. Not going to waste my time trying to fight LW ignorance by reposting it.

so, we ignore fact check because you say so

don't think that is the way it works

The first three words told me all I needed to know about this post. It is indeed "idiotic and ignorant,"

Then we agree, tRump is both idiotic and ignorant. Some may want to hide from the truth and believe whatever the Orange gassy gut guy says but the facts are the ONLY reason it isn't so bad in the flyover states is the powder train is just now reaching us. 3 weeks from 1 case to over 300... :doh

If our governor is as piss ignorant as The Don and drops our efforts to limit the spread we will have a grass fire sweeping across our state. I surly hope our chief of State is smarter than the Twit in Chief temporarily in the White House... :peace

As I said, I posted a link that shows that the House was working on fighting his ban. Believe it or not. I don't GAF if Dembots believe it or not.

The Facts on Trump's Travel Restrictions - FactCheck.org

Yet you continue to spew this bogus narrative. Quit lying.

Really?

We scoured news clips and could find only a couple instances of elected Democrats criticizing the president’s action to restrict travel.

Hmm... is "a couple" not two, and if so why not list them? If the MSM elected not to report certain comments does that mean that they never "really" existed?

On the day Trump imposed the travel restrictions, Biden did criticize Trump for his “record of hysteria and xenophobia,” but it is unclear whether Biden was referring to Trump’s travel restrictions, or Trump’s overall qualifications to deal with the epidemic.

Hmm... we know that Biden reacted (immediately?) to Trump's announcement of the travel ban, but seem to have no idea why.

Those (above quotes) are opinions and not facts. How can "fact checkers" present (their own?) opinions as fact?

A rapidly growing rate of coronavirus infections has Albany under siege. Its main hospital is so overrun with sick and dying patients, nurses had been told to keep working even if they tested positive themselves, and the administration turned to the underground market to try to find essential supplies.

The CDC and the state Department of Public Health have sent experts to investigate the catastrophic spread of the disease. Most non-essential local businesses have been disrupted or shuttered altogether. A downtown micro-brewery has converted half of its brew tanks into a hand sanitizer production line. The local Procter & Gamble paper plant is working to pump out enough Charmin toilet paper and Bounty paper towels to help supply products that have disappeared from store

Albany, New York, right?

No.

Coronavirus exacts heavy toll in Southwest Georgia city of Albany

Newsome and Cuomo are the ones that failed.

History will almost certainly record otherwise.

Trump is AWOL from everything but the press briefings and his unsecured phone. He’s obviously not paying attention to anyone around him, and he clearly resents having to introduce anyone who knows more than he does (that would be everyone on the stage).

He’s trying to play to his knuckle dragging base by riffing nonsense (which Trumpsters can’t get enough of) and attacking people who are acting and sounding like responsible people.

Trump summed up his role early on.

“No, I take no responsibility at all”.
