I wonder if this idea might gain support following Trump's acquittal on the charges of impeachment. Personally, I'm not a fan of 'state-run' news and he's already got Fox, though he's not been happy with it's reporting recently.

Trump floats idea of his own news network to counter CNN

“CNN is a voice that really seems to be the voice out there and it’s a terrible thing for our country,” Trump said, diverging from his speech on protecting Medicare for seniors at an event in The Villages, Fla. “We ought to start our own network and put some real news out there, because they are so bad for our country.”

“We’re looking at that. We should do something about it, too,” he added. “Put some really talented people and get a real voice out there, not a voice that's fake.”

The president initially slammed the media within minutes of the event, pointing at journalists in attendance while saying that “the fake news is back there.” The comment was met with an uproar of boos from the crowd.

It’s not the first time the president has floated the idea of a state-run news agency as an alternative to what he deems the “enemy of the people.”

Tennessee state lawmaker offers resolution to 'recognize' CNN, Washington Post as 'fake news'

A Tennessee state lawmaker introduced a resolution that would “recognize” CNN and The Washington Post as “fake news.”

The resolution, which was introduced in the Tennessee General Assembly on Wednesday by state Rep. Micah Van Huss (R), would “condemn” the news outlets “for denigrating our citizens.”

The resolution cites one article published by an editor at the Washington Post on Oct. 3.

Van Huss in his resolution claimed that the publication "wrote that President Donald J. Trump has cast a spell on the Republican Party and suggested that Trumpism is cult-like."
(. . .)
Van Huss's resolution also accuses “a CNN host” of suggesting “that Trump supporters belong to a cult and that our president is using mind control” on Nov. 24. CNN host Brian Stelter conducted an interview with Hassan published on Nov. 24.

“We recognize that fake news outlets suggest ideas without directly making accusations so that they can claim innocence from their ivory towers; and … it is fascinating to see this latest 'cult-of-Trump' meme coming from the left, because they are the true masters of deploying mobs to demand total conformity and compliance with their agenda,” Van Huss writes in the resolution.

He could call it 'Fox News'.

It’s a good question, the fake news/enemy of the people has been compromised for a long time.

Now that the senate has given Trump carte blanche, don't be surprised to see CNN and MSNBC shut down for sedition.

Never happen. That ranks up there with Obama’s Brown Shirts.

So here we go with the chipping away at the 1st amendment. I am sure it will never pass. Fox News tells so many lies, they are the master of 'Fake News' These politicians have nothing better to do.

1. I voted for Candidate Trump and plan to vote for President Trump in November.

2. Win or lose, I hope that Mr. Trump does NOT start another cable news network.

3. FOX is about the best that he can expect.

4. Starting a new network would be a waste of money and effort. It would be a failure. Most people (including me) do NOT want a news network devoted to how wonderful President Trump is. That is not news.

5. If he loses in November, former president Trump should do what he does best: Fly around the country to raise the spirits of his supporters as the Dems take over the White House. He should spend his time helping to get Republicans elected at the local, state, and national level. He is NOT a boring speaker.

We don't need a "state run" agency.

I don't support US version of a Soviet-style Pravda.

We have Public Broadcasting. C-Span. Then there is NPR.

While PBS and NPR typically lean Left...IMO that's because left-leaning groups inhabit/use it more.

You must like to hear the same tune on the radio, played in a loop.

Facts lean left.

All the support he wants but it's not really "news" and it shouldn't be allowed to call itself "news" if it's TrumpNews, or RupertNews, or CNN-News slanted toward CNN's favorite corporate bottom line either.

News is factually accurate information about events and issues, not propaganda.
If I drink a bunch of beers, then piss in all the empties, stick em in the fridge and then sell them to you, and you want to drink them, fine...but am I allowed to call it BEER?

It was BEER when I originally drank it but it sure as **** ain't beer now, is it?

Considering PBS gets a lot of funding from the government, Trump's idea of creating his own network is not a bad idea. It doesn't even have to be a political show.

I heard about this a long time ago.

If it does come to pass, I'm SURE it will be magnificent, bigly, with the best television ratings in television history. AND, a bag of chips.

It's just what we need. MORE Trump on out TV screens.

Trump Akbar! Heil Trumpler! Donald Christ Trump the Savior of Mankind!

More of the Messiah! Make America Great Again! Amen!

Trump might as well fail as a media outlet like the rest of his endeavours.

He already has FOX, why would he have to go though all that trouble when he already has his own network?

I hope it's as invisible as the new stealth fighters he keeps saying that 'nobody can see it, even if they're right next to it.'

Trump should file with the FCC while he is still sitting POTUS, what are they going to do to him?

Trump is 90% Bulls**t and 10% action. Yes, he "floats" ideas and then does nothing if it costs him a frickin' dime.

But what in it for him? Remember Trump is not altruistic. He does nothing that does not benefit himself personally.

Tweety fanatics should also have their own Tweetynet that doesn't intersect with the real internet.

Is the freedom of the press something that your religious monarchy would also not support?

Like Conservapedia, but bigger and more absurd? I am guessing thay fact-checking with real sources would not be permitted.

Would it be in English or Russian?

Well, there is already a White House channel on Roku and he probably won't be going anywhere for the next 5 years, so might as well strike while the iron is hot cause it isn't like he is going to live to be a hundred with that gut.
