Trump digs in on racist tweets: ‘Many people agree with me’

Can't help you with your brain needs, Kiddie Diddler.

See what I mean? You just said there was as much evidence I was a kiddie diddler as Trump's comments were racist, none. In fact, there's a lot of evidence you're the kiddie diddler since you brought it up, and it seems to be on your mind quite a bit too much.

Exactly. So since y'all keep insisting Trump's comments are racist, we'll keep on noting your kiddie diddling ways.

And element changed Gondwanaland's post to:

My name is Gondwanaland and I'm a kiddie diddler.

I am fairly confident that this completely violates forum rules...

Because that is specific to race. Jews and Israel.

What he has done here is to tell some random people from different backgrounds to go back to some country that he does not even know where they are from.

I am not saying that he is not a racist... I am not saying that this was not meant to be racist... I am saying that this one statement is not a racist statement based off the actual words used.

Since we do not know intent, we can not say it is racist.

The logic I keep seeing from Trump haters is why so many innocent black people were convicted by all white juries back in the day...

The four Congresswomen are pretty specific. Trump KNEW where they are from. If he didn't, why didn't he retract his statement and apologize?

BTW, are you a Hillary or Obama hater?

They are also working in protecting American decency. It was AOC who first exposed the horrible conditions inside the detention centers.

Good point, that is doing her job, and making America a better place than Twump would have it.

BTW, are you a Hillary or Obama hater?

Hate Hilary

Love Obama

Hate Trump as a person

Think Trump is, surprisingly, doing a pretty good job as President

What specifically does he have to apologize for? He did not say that they were not American's... he referenced them going back to their countries of ancestry, and for Omar, that is pretty recently a foreign country. Saying go back to where you came from to a black American is obviously racist... they were brought here as slaves and had no choice. Saying go back to where you came from to a newer America that comes here voluntarily and then just ****s on the place that they CHOSE to come to is not racist because they can simply leave and go to a better place.

Uuhhhh... yeah... that is why I said: my thinking is that he doesn't know or doesn't care where they are from.

Precisely. The issue isn't their place of birth, it's their skin color. To Donald Trump, it's a white country with white heritage, anyone else is a foreign other. Rashida Tlaib could trace her lineage directly to Thomas ****ing Jefferson and Donald Trump would consider himself "more American" than her.

It's also why he doesn't say this **** about his own wife, or the four of his five children that were birthed by a foreign-born immigrant. They're white, so they're good.

No, He SPECIFICALLY said, "go back to countries they originally came from".

Telling someone "go back to where you came from" is always racist, hope this helps.

Possibly... but that is just a guess.

Like I said before, I was told to go back to my own country by a white Kiwi... and I am white. Sooo?

No, He SPECIFICALLY said, "go back to countries they originally came from".

That is about geography... not race.

White people probably live in every country on the planet...

Why hasn't Trump apologize to the three Congresswomen yet because they were born here?

I already said it... because he probably just doesn't care. Being an asshole does not make him a racist, at least in this case.

If he doesn't apologize, that speaks volumes. You said he's being an asshole. Others say his refusal to apologize indicates he's racist. Maybe he's actually is a racist assshole?

Looks like we are starting to see things more the same... ;)

Oh actually I don't know if he's racist. He may or may not be but his actions speak volumes. Remember Central Park 5 and housing discrimination?

One point I would like to make is that there is a difference between saying that "X is racist" and "X made a racist comment." Someone may not be racist in his personal life but may still intentionally make a racist comment for whatever reason (such as pandering racists in order to win an election).

On the other hand, one can say that the result and consequences between someone who acts like a racist and someone who is racist are not that different.

He is a Troll... he knows how to skirt the line. There are some here at DP that do the same thing.

He may be the biggest racist of all time... but he does not make it clear one way or another...

What he does is get people all upset and then sits back. He wins. That is not Presidential either... but I doubt that he cares about that either.

A comment that is semi-reasonable. Finally.

I supposed he's treating the White House and our government as if it's WWE and his base loves it.

Trump digs in on racist tweets: ‘Many people agree with me’

WASHINGTON (AP) — Defiant in the face of widespread criticism, President Donald Trump renewed his belligerent call on Monday for four Democratic congresswomen of color to get out of the U.S. “right now,” cementing his position as the most willing U.S. leader in generations to stoke the discord that helped send him to the White House.

Content to gamble that a sizeable chunk of the electorate embraces his tweets that have been widely denounced as racist, the president made clear that he has no qualms about exploiting racial divisions once again.

“It doesn’t concern me because many people agree with me,” Trump said at the White House. “A lot of people love it, by the way.”

The episode served notice that Trump is willing to again rely on incendiary rhetoric on issues of race and immigration to preserve his political base in the leadup to the 2020 election.

COMMENT:-

This time Mr. Trump IS 100% correct - many Americans DO agree with him. They are quite on board with his suggestion that anyone who isn't white and male should not have any say in the governance of the United States of America and that they should all "go back where they came from" (regardless of whether they, and their parents, and their grandparents, and their great grandparents, and their great great grandparents were born in America).

Sad, isn't it?
Trump responds with total disregard for race or sex. Isn't that what we want?

Ive never said or thought anything that would align with those guys. Im not a white supremacist.

Just because I have a high IQ and am not afraid to tell the truth does not mean Im (insert mean word Im supposed to be offended by here).

You are all manipulated LOL Racism was an invention of the political elite to control people with average IQs and high empathy. Those people are insanely easy to manipulate. I have been able to manipulate this group of people through nothing but words typed on the internet. Im leading you to the truth when I could EASILY lead you towards lies. Let me guess, you trust Barack Obama? If so, you dont give a **** about the truth.

Oh do tell us how high that IQ is, sir.

As you just said, I used the quotes in MY statement when I explained why Trump's tweet was racist. I did not say that Trump's tweet actually said "brown."

Sooooo, AGAIN, who were you quoting in your statement about Trump when you put into quotations "brown" people.

Sooooo, AGAIN, who were you quoting in your statement about Trump when you put into quotations "brown" people.

Okay!

I do not know if English yis your second language, but quotation marks are sometimes used in the following way

Scare quotes - Wikipedia

Scare quotes (also called shudder quotes,[1][2] sneer quotes,[3] and quibble marks) are quotation marks that a writer places around a word or phrase to signal that they are using it in a non-standard, ironic, or otherwise special sense.[4] Scare quotes may indicate that the author is using someone else's term, similar to preceding a phrase with the expression "so-called";[5] they may imply skepticism or disagreement, belief that the words are misused, or that the writer intends a meaning opposite to the words enclosed in quotes.[6]

...

Writers use scare quotes for a variety of reasons. They can imply doubt or ambiguity in words or ideas within the marks,[13] or even outright contempt.[14] They can indicate that a writer is purposely misusing a word or phrase[15] or that the writer is unpersuaded by the text in quotes,[16] and they can help the writer deny responsibility for the quote.[14] In general, they express distance[17] between writer and quote.[5]

For example:

Some "groupies" were following the band.

The scare quotes could indicate that the word is not one the writer would normally use, or that the writer thinks there is something dubious about the word groupies or its application to these people.[18] The exact meaning of the scare quotes is not clear without further context.
