Trump Campaign Sues New York Times Over 2019 Opinion Article

You should sue the funnies page.

You people don't make any sense. At all. I've gotten to page 18 in this thread and feel like I might save the entire train wreck as a definitive sample of modern American psychosis.

See we have a thing in this country called libel and slander. What this means is that you can't run up and down the street or put something in a newspaper that is knowingly
false and does damage and causes injury to your neighbor. IE you can't say that your neighbor likes little kids because his dog crapped on your yard one day and he didn't pick it up.
Even politicians are protected. However they have another standard in which they have to get over which is very difficult. That is malice.

They have to prove that the person said it on purpose and knowing that it was 100% false.

the funny pages are protected first amendment actions.

there are only 2 outcomes to this case.

1. Newspapers and everyone can print whatever the hell they want about anyone regardless of the actual facts knowing that it is 100% false and as long as they claim it is an opinion get away with it.
2. They will rule that newspapers are still required to have some journalistic integrity when publishing articles.

I have a Christian family and it is quite obvious you know nothing about Christians.

LOL, apparently you're living in denial. Evangelical Christians overwhelmingly support Trump. They overwhelmingly chose Trump as their representative, so they must share the same values. Stealing from charity, scamming money from children with cancer, scamming people with a fake University, constantly lying.

Hell, look at Trump bragging about the women he's sexually assaulted. It was Evangelical Christians who told us this is typical behavior in their locker rooms. Evangelical Christians told us that they do this on a regular basis. So yeah, you're living in denial.

Look at other Evangelical Christian leaders, Trump fits right in, a bunch of liars and flimflammers:

slapping this on the opinions page is nothing more than a stunt.
They are attempting to spread false and blantantly false information
and then get off saying it is just an opinion when the author is in fact attempting to
state it as facts.

so do you support such lies and when supposedly leftist hate lies?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. They are not entitled to their own "alternative" facts.

Yes, they should put thus at the top of the NY Times opinion page - "Integrity should be neither implied or assumed"

What should we put on top of this?

In 1,095 days, President Trump has made 16,241 false or misleading claims
https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/trump-claims-database/

Donald Trump has lied an average of 13 times a day since becoming president, analysis finds

These ARE the facts....

Carter page is a Rooskie slut and who but Trump (and you?) would trust him? :lamo
P.S. I don't doubt that Page tried to betray Russia too. That is what traitors do. That does not change a thing.

Carter Page - Wikipedia

This is amusing in light of the fact the Clinton campaign and Obama Admin trusted a foreign spy and his anonymous Russian sources that spun a narrative that the Trump campaign was conspiring with Russia to fix the 2016 election.
Say what you want about Trump and Mr. Page, he was fired and whatever Trump thought about Mr. Page caused no damage to the country. The actions in trusting Mr. Steele caused great damage to the country though.

Devin is a Trump toady that has no credibility whatsoever and the circumstantial evidence against Trump is overwhelming. Answer my question. Why did Trump secretly try to remove Russian sanctions right after he took office if it wasn't part of an agreement with Putin? We know Flynn discussed removing sanctions with the Russian ambassador and lied about it. Why all the secrecy and lying?

Perhaps he thought the sanctions would be counterproductive for his foreign policy with Russia.

Compare that to the days before Gingrich, when the right decided power, the acquisition of by any means possible, was more important that cooperation, fair play, and the like,

One thing is certain, things will not get better in America until we get take power out of the hands of republicans who, though once upon a time, an honorable organization, have become a runaway criminal enterprise, and, as such, are a threat to national security on a number of levels.

It always seems that Republicans are honorable, decent folk-- when they are losing elections and more or less agreeing with Democrats on the major issues of the day.
At some point I would think the Democrats have to grow up a bit.

I would so love for you to actually try to make a point rather than just play this argument to the stone baiting bull****---that is literally all you ever do, ever.

It's not baiting when you whine and cry about bias you cannot demonstrate and can't cope with the fact that both links cite specific instances in the Mueller Report that you cannot refute since you haven't read it.

Rejecting objective reality is literally all you ever do. Ever.

OJ Simpson got an actual trial. We didn't get any such thing from the Moscow Mitch controlled Senate.

Schiff filed his charges. It is not Mitch's fault that his charges were bogus. But to the cocksure number here posting who think Mueller found Trump guilty, either you think Schiff is stupid or he knew Mueller did not prove Trump was working with the Russians. Anyway, My vote is definitely for Trump.

Trumps policy vis a vis Russia is to confront them. To me he comes close to acting like he wants a war with Russia. Seems not one Democrat pays attention to the many Tanks Trump has on Russias border and ignores that Trump supplied Ukraine with lethal weapons.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. They are not entitled to their own "alternative" facts.

which is what this paper was. their own alternative facts which is why the lawsuit was filed.

I kind of hope the media starts being held accountable for spreading out right lies. It is sad that we cannot believe anything our media tells us anymore. But what is even worse is the fact that there are millions of people that actually believe our media.
This supports your contention. I understand that David Wright, the ABC Emmy winning employee involved, was immediately transferred. Even the leftist Salon recognized the problem and goes a long way in explaining why so many leftists on these boards have such poorly informed opinions. ABC's David Wright told the truth about network news and Trump — and paid the price | Salon.com

Trump mistakenly trusteed in the FBI also. He was advised to get rid of Comey right at the beginning of his Administration, believing they would be loyal to the Presidency..

The Trump campaign's 100's of contacts with Russian operatives and Trump's denial of the Russian help caused the damage. Why did he praise Wikileaks when he knew it was a front for the GRU? Why did he allow his campaign to go to the Trump Tower meeting when he knew it was an overture for help from the Russian Govt.? I have to hand it to Trump for bringing this all back up with this lawsuit. :)

Yes and we know what "loyal" means when it comes to Trump. Prosecute his enemies while letting his friends slide.

Right now you aren't making sense anymore. You don't want to address that he acted at the behest of the CIA. He was working with them.

Then tell me all the good info Page supplied to the CIA. We don't know if he was feeding them misinformation from the GRU or not. Double agents are not to be trusted and that could be why the CIA did not mention it to the judge. Pages history speaks for itself.

I said loyalty to the Presidency, not to Trump. The FBI should be loyal to the office and whoever the American people elected as their leader, That's not a new concept. They cannot attempt to interfere with an election or undermine any President. It's a shame you disagree.

How did the Russians help Trump? With the Steele Dossier?

How did the Russians help Trump? With the Steele Dossier?

Read the Mueller report. It is unbelievable that you could even ask that question. Now we are concerned with how Trump is paying Putin back for the help.

The Justice dept. must be loyal to the Constitution and the rule of law over any other concern. It is shameful that you disagree. Without an independent Justice Dept. the people will lose confidence in its mission which is to uphold our laws.

Perhaps he thought the sanctions would be counterproductive for his foreign policy with Russia.

What was Trump's "foreign policy with Russia" in his first month of office? Give them everything they want with nothing in return? That is what it looked like and it is what got Congress so scared that they passed a bill to stop Trump from removing Russian sanctions without their approval.

If was just the New York Times or a couple of media sources it would not be so bad. But once one media outlet lies or twist the truth you have almost half of all the media in this country repeating. What do you expect the people to believe. As far as most people are concerned all these media outlets can't be wrong. They have no idea that one bad apple aired the story then it was monkey see monkey do with the rest of them. I think what is needed is when they are caught lying or twisting the truth there needs to be a law that every media outlet that published the lie needs to publish a retraction. If it was front page news originally then the retraction gets the same front page coverage.

LOL! You want me to read the entire Mueller Report to support your nonsensical claim??

How is Trump paying Putin? Is that in the Mueller Report also?
