You really don't understand socialism do you? Socialism is long term, stimulus is short term. were you concerned when Obama signed the 842 billion stimulus program initiating spending to Americans?

Do you know, we were already running a $1T deficit for the year? With the supposed best economy in over 50 yrs, we were spending more than we were taking in.
Now the socialist RW is adding another $2.2T and you defend it.

Big deal. Even George W Bush had 92% right after 911. The best Trump can do in a national crisis is 60% and then only for the crisis itself.

My point exactly and thank you for agreeing with me. If fact I said Trump's approval would fall as soon as the crisis is over.

But for the moment at least, people are rallying around him. For Trump to get up to 60% on anything is a pretty big deal. I don't think he's ever been at 60% on anything.

Even 49% approval is not that bad. Obama was at 46% at this point in his presidency. Trump could conceivably flip right-side up and go positive in the RCP average. He's only at -2.5% in that.

So Trump's reaction to the Coronavirus is wrong?? What is your solution? Again you and others do nothing but participate in the politics of personal destruction. Apparently you believe that the Coronavirus is a long term problem for this country which it isn't. It required short term spending to prevent a much worse financial event in this country. I anxiously await you or others telling us what we should do and why you believe that the addition to the deficit based upon the crisis is socialism?

I do hope we eventually reduce our deficits and debt. When this is over, I think it's the next Trump should concentrate on in his next term.

What you have to remember about polls is that the rules are:

  1. "If the poll says something that the person wants to hear, then the polls are absolutely definitive and cannot be questioned.";

  2. "If the poll says something that the person does not want to hear, then the polls are absolutely false and cannot be believed at all."

I think polls about how people feel right now are more reliable than polls about how people think they will feel 7 months from now.

Paying more attention to "trend lines" will give you more information than concentrating on "TODAY'S POLL RESULTS" 99 times out of 100.

I don't think that's even remotely true. Trend lines change, and the future is unknown. Who knew a month ago that we would all be sitting at home?

Of course trend lines (1st derivatives) change over time, so does the rate of change of trend lines (2nd derivatives) and so does the rate of change of the rate of change of trend lines (3rd derivatives). All three tell you different things and enable you to make different predictions. However "today's poll result" (single point data) is almost meaning less as a guide to future behaviour if you don't consider them.

I believe that, as far as "conservative" is concerned, whatever data comes out of China is totally irrelevant because it's all lies. As is also the case for the data coming from any country other than the United States of America which is 100% true (unless, of course, that US data comes from someone other than Mr. Trump [in which case it is also a lie if it is not 100% in agreement with the data coming from Mr. Trump]).

And sometimes the trendlines change for no apparent reason.

Six months ago it was widely assumed that Liz Warren had the nomination all sewn up. The polls all showed her leading or at least trending.

Three months ago the nomination was Bernie's to lose. Or if not Sanders, then maybe Bloomberg. Biden had an outside chance at best.

Today, Biden is the presumptive nominee. But Cuomo may be making a strong dark horse bid. Where was Cuomo trending 1, 3 or 6 months ago?

My point is that in politics, day-to-day trends are of almost no value in predicting future results. Too many variables and too many unknowns that get introduced and throw out all the old rules.

Facts? What facts?? Didn't read the article from the PEOPLE of CHINA did you?? You don't have a lot of credibility when it comes to Trump as your hatred has blinded you to reality and you are incapable of supporting anything he does. You want badly to believe anything negative so apparently you aren't in the 60% that support his actions and instead are part of the 39-40% who would never support anything he does. It truly is a shame they don't teach civics in Colorado
