Trump applauds far-right social media provocateurs

Trump is missing a great opportunity of starting his own social media brand. He can call it "Trumple"...or "Trumpster" and he can essentially do what Roger Ailes did for FOX. This way the folks who feel like they can't express their views can do so without having to worry about being banned because this site can set its own TOS. Now that Kushner's solved the Israeli Palestinian crisis, he has time to take this on.

How about Trumpet and he can have a Tripe feed.

Apparently so; only pro-Trump, right-wing bloggers and "social media" folks were invited, and I doubt it's because those who were not pro-Trump or right-wing had all their invitations lost in the mail, lol. How gullible can folks be?

If this becomes a thing he can have his own troll fest.

I would think the leaders in the industry would be invited to any serious summit.

Serious is the operative word.

And to echo ocean515's logic: Is there some special standard that the summit must be serious?

He was actually all set to build his own media empire when he won the election. That interrupted his best laid plans. I'm sure if he looses in 2020, he'll to back to it and Trumptastic will rise.

Based on what? Why would those liberal media companies need to be invited? Is there some special standard of who must be invited to a Social Media Summit?

Well there is common sense. Unappealing as that may be to the right whing. If you're having a social media summit it might be a good idea to invite social media companies. Just a thought. If you're having a whine and bitch fest about social media, then you invite a bunch of right whiners and keep the guest list secret.

My post:

"Laughingly, one CNN report was titled: "Trump invites right-wing extremists to White House 'social media summit'""

Your claim:

"That is officially and EXACTLY how the White House described it themselves,"

So you failed to prove that is EXACTLY how the White House described it themselves.

LOL

Not to worry, I knew you couldn't. Without your constant hyperbole, I'm not sure how much you could post.....

You forgot to quote yourself saying this in your comment;

"Laughingly, one CNN report was titled: "Trump invites right-wing extremists to White House 'social media summit'"

is there any wonder why CNN can't keep digging deeper in the sewer? "

Posting the title right on social media is equivalent to announcing it to the world. Just stop now, you're really embarrassing yourself.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump used a White House conference Thursday to applaud far-right social media provocateurs even as he conceded that some of them are extreme in their views.
Trump, who has weaponized social media to eviscerate opponents and promote himself, led a “social media summit” of like-minded critics of Big Tech, excluding representatives from the very platforms he exploits.
The president used the event to air grievances over his treatment by Big Tech, but also to praise some of the most caustic voices on the right, who help energize Trump’s political base.

“Some of you guys are out there,” he told them. “I mean it’s genius, but it’s bad.”

A summit of far-right pundits that will never run out of fabricated conspiracy theories we welcomed to the White House. Among the guests was none other than Ali Alexander, a right-wing operative that tweeted that Sen. Kamala Harris isn’t really “an American Black,” and of course, Trump re-tweeted it. Then there was a pro-Trump “memesmith” who goes by the screenname “@CarpeDonktum,” and blogger Jim Hoft, whose Gateway Pundit blog frequently promotes hoaxes. Of course Matt Gaetz and Marsha Blackburn attended, they need to be on their toes to prepare for the upcoming Mueller testimony next week.

InfoWars reporter and Alex Jones's lieutenant Owen Shroyer raged that no one from InfoWars was invited to the event, while people who hadn’t been banned from social media outlets were.
:lamoWhen you're starting to piss off the lowlife, things must be getting pretty bad.

Get your stories in sync guys!

It was nothing but a meeting of internet trolls moderated by our troll-in-chief. These are the purveyors of false information that helped get trump elected and he know it. Thus they're ramping up for another misinformation fest for 2020.

Sick bastards.

I have not heard of any of those people.

Apparently trump can't get anyone famous to visit the Whitehouse anymore...

Now, now, he got "icons" such as Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, and Sarah Palin. Remember they posted a trolling picture in front of Hillary's portrait in the White House? OH! Don't forget he got Kanye, "his black friend" to visit as well.

I keep thinking I'm going to wake up from this idocracy-like nightmare :(

It's my understanding that no representatives from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (you know, the BIG guys of "social media") were invited to attend. So yeah, it kinda-sorta was a right-wing only sponsored event, lol.

the troll-in-chief didn't invite facebook or twitter - only internet trolls. How surprising!

Of course he does, that's a big part of his base.

That 'classy' Sebastian Gorka felt very emboldened, surrounded by other trolls of course, so he verbally attacked the writer for Playboy Magazine, Brian Karem. Of course Gorka had a bone to pick with Brian because he had pushed back on Huckleberry Sarah Sanders when she stood in front of the press and basically called them all 'liars', but she said it with other words. When I saw this video and another from today in the Rose Garden I actually thought -- holy ****, that's the Rose Garden of the White House where dignified men hosted other dignified men from around the world -- in a dignified manner. Today looked like the party scene from 'Weekend At Bernies''. This country has zero dignity left.

If there's anyone that doesn't know who Sebastian Gorka is, he's an alt-right, neo-con that used to work for Breitbart, he was brought into the White House on the coattails of Steve Bannon. Sebastian Gorka is a pretty regular commentator on Fox. No surprise there. Gorga has ties to ultra-right groups in Hungary including a group which are actually descendants from Nazis. He was denied a security clearance, Trump asked him to be one of his national security advisors, but the CIA denied him a security clearance. He called an attack on a mosque a 'false flag'. He has what's equivalent to a mail-in degree from a 3rd rate University in Budapest. Its like getting a doctorate degree from Trump University.

Absolutely!

Russian and American trolls spreading fake news are a big part of Trump's election success...

Karem taunts Gorka saying “come on over here and talk to me, brother. We can go outside and have a long conversation.” Gorka comes right over and gets in Kaems face ... and Karem craps himself. Very impressive! :lamo :2rofll:

Trump can't win on his merits (duh) so he plays on his base's bigotry and hatred. It works for his base so if it ain't broke why fix it?

What would you expect Brian Karem to do, punch that loud-mouthed Nazi dickhead in the mouth right there on camera at the White House? No, that's where legitimate press differs from someone like Nazi Gorka, they know better because they're smarter and that's why he said 'we can go outside' because off camera, and off the grounds, Gorka would have been mush. If you believe that Brian Karem was afraid, you don't know Brian Karem apparently.

I just watched him bark and then wet his pants ... then, after Gorka walked away, Karem starts barking again. Not a good look.

Yeah but it's Gorka's out of control behavior that caught the focus of every news outlet

DUH!! That is officially and EXACTLY how the White House described it themselves, That's right, it came straight from 'the sewer'. CNN didn't 'make it up'. You're so anxious to rage against CNN but really, you should check your bull**** for facts before you leave it here for all to see how desperate you are.

6 likes for your post, and it's a lie. Liberals love their alternative facts, don't they? Methinks HumbleLie would be a more fitting screen name.

How sad that so many are willing to support racism in the name of political expediency.

"Methinks" you can't name one thing in my post that's a lie because if you try, you better beware that I'll prove you wrong. Go on, try me.

I do believe you just called me a liar, is that right, did you call me a liar --- "truth at all cost" LMAO

The White House called the event a 'social media summit', CNN characterized it as being attended by 'right wing extremists'. You know damn well that no one here was objecting to the term 'social media summit' when they asked you to prove that CNN used the WH's terminology in their headline. You're being dishonest now by feigning indignation over being called out. Admit your initial falsehood, and move on.

Far-Right; AKA freedom loving Individualists, Opposing the Totalitarian Left.

Half the people at the summit weren't even right-wing, much less far-right. Like really, is Tim Pool really far-right now? Is that how "left-wing" liberals are?
