With DACA Ruling, Did Supreme Court Grant Trump New Powers To Reshape Health Care? | Kaiser Health News

“We’re signing a health care plan within two weeks, a full and complete health care plan that the Supreme Court decision on DACA gave me the right to do,” Trump said July 19 on “Fox News Sunday.”

"So while Trump technically lost that case, he is using the ruling (and Yoo’s theory) to voice confidence that he can do things no one thought possible."

Small government and separation of powers folks, you good with this?

Lol, the president after almost 4 years of silence on healthcare is releasing and passing a healthcare plan within weeks all by himself, without any bipartisan congressional discussion or discussion with the American people. Sounds like a real winner. :lamo

How can the healthcare plan be "full and complete" when the Republican battle cry is that healthcare shouldn't be full and complete and should only be available to those who can afford it?

This reality TV presidency is so tedious.

Let me spoil the plot twist for you: there is no Trump (or GOP) health care plan. Leaning on the courts to bring back preexisting conditions and sewing chaos in the health system is all they’re after.

one would think the constitutional Republicans (here) would be up in arms about such a dictatorial move.

spot on

So they're gonna allow him to also rewrite the Constitution?

If anyone can remember back a few years as to how much effort was required to pass a healthcare law, and then the legal machinations that followed, this idea is literally insane.

The answer is no, under no circumstances can the president rewrite the healthcare system by executive decree.

Perhaps it's because everyone loves Obamacare

that's a good a diversion as any i guess (away from Trumpcare which will be signed in 8 days).

this part sounds just like the con man who is temporarily occupying our White House...

"In theory, Trump could enact a policy, even one judged illegal by the courts, and the person who follows him into office would need to jump through a number of hoops to undo it."

Well, the senate is attaching a cut to Social Security in the COVID relief bill. That sounds more like them.

I'm sure it will be small give big take as usual. We fail on healthcare, regardless of who comes up with it and regardless of the good examples around the world but no worries, we get a "Space Force."

I think the courts would not take kindly to such an insulting way to govern. Hopefully the electorate finds it just as insulting.

yeah, but if that article is correct, idiot Trump could throw a bomb/monkey wrench into the whole healthcare thing (which would take sane people ~ a year to reverse). it seems so Trump-like that i kind of expect it.

I don't think it would take any time at all. Judges can and should place an immediate injunction on such actions as they are meant to sabotage the system.

A incoming president can and should ask for obviously illegal/harmful actions to be stopped immediately.

Or, concerned parties should be able to get an immediate hearing before the election on the presidents illegal actions.

That only happens if the SC buys Yoo's argument. This maneuver is so blatantly unconstitutional that it will immediately be stayed until it winds its way there, don't you think?

He plans to do the same with immigration. He's going to take care of DACA and make a lot of people very happy. It will be like no one has seen before.

See, Trump knows the SC can't toss out his bright idea until next year. So he's hoping to get away with **** while he can. He MUST know this. It has to be a way to tell his base, "Well I tried and the meanie liberal courts stopped me." Or something like that. Didn't the Republicans vote to repeal Obamacare sixty some times without a plan to replace it? They knew it was only a gesture, since Obama of course vetoed it every time. At least I'm sure hoping that is what's going on.

Once the two weeks have elapsed, I can't wait to hear the wrap-up on this by Mr. Rush Limbaugh, Mr. Sean Hannity and Mr. Mark Levin. Mr. Levin in particular claims great knowledge of the Constitution of the United States of America. I'm sure he will enlighten us in detail.

Regards, stay safe 'n well. Keep up the Big 3: mask, hand-washing and physical distance.

prediction 1 : he will try to do another horrible thing.

prediction 2 : borg will attempt to sell the flattened **** as brownies.

I honestly don't think he thinks anything through. I think he does everything off the cuff.

Maybe. It depends specifically on what he tries to change.

Those 3 people are just a massive liars. They will cover for anything this Republican president does.

Millions of Americans use it. Trump wants to throw those Millions off their healthcare during a Pandemic. That is what you support.
