Trump and Putin summit underway in Helsinki

Nothing really to talk about that hasn't been beaten to death already. I watched the 'live' broadcast in the beginning, but no bid deal.

That was the photo op. The actual meeting isn't something anybody can watch because it is behind closed doors with ZERO Americans present.
Now do you care?

No. Why would I? I understand that fringe loons who have bought into the Russian collusion idiocy would have their hair on fire over this, but no reason any sane person would.

As Charles Blow writes, Trump is a Treasonous Traitor for not protecting the country from an ongoing attack.

He ends the column with, "Trump is more concerned with protecting his presidency and validating his election than he is in protecting this country."

NOW that more is being reported about the meeting, I am more inclined to agree with you here. He is brushing this off and not taking it seriously at all.

Previously, (about the time you attacked me) nothing substantial had happened (regarding the meeting) for us to discuss. Get it now?

Obama Cyber security chief confirmed that he received a stand down order from Susan Rice.....

Again...if I have to beat this to DEATH, I will.
Can you imagine the Republican reaction if ANY news came out about ANY efforts by the Obama administration on ANYTHING of this nature during the election? You know, the election that Donald Trump WAS SCREAMING was being

RIGGED!!!!!!!

That includes FBI actions, revelations about Russian espionage to the press, anything at all, if it had Obama's fingerprints on it, what do you think the Republicans would have said and done in response?

What do you think TRUMP would have said and done in response?

The problem is that Trump is meeting with Putin in secret, with no one else around. So we have to rely on Trump to tell us what happened, and that's as good as Fake News.
I certainly view that as problematic, but having observed Trump’s behavior these last few years (and that of his enablers in Congress and supporters in general) I understand that he gets off on things like this. So do his supporters. I just read some cackling on twitter about what a great troll he is. He likes the subtext and the media subnarrative concerning his strange behavior toward Putin and Russia. Of course I wouldn't encourage anyone to drop their unease and outrage over his unsettling behavior, but I think our energy can be better spent putting people in place who can hold him accountable instead of staying tangled up in his kabuki bull****.

So you're criticizing Obama about not having a strong enough response to Russian's information warfare, in a thread about the President meeting with Putin days after indictments proved Putin engaged in information warfare? Are you aware of how dumb that makes you look?

Don't take the bait. That is a bait and switch so that he can shift the topic Obama instead of Trump.

I support it. It is the perfect time to meet with Putin.
And when the president kisses Putin's ass and he does nothing to stand-up to Putin's tactics at all, what will be your excuse then?

Oh look. TDSrs whining and crying about something. Must be morning.

He's like a child high on candy desperately seeking attention from the adults in the room by making loud noises.

The more you indulge him, the more disruptive he'll become.

He is a great troll. He's the Reality-TV President, and he knows how to drum up that Reality-TV Drama. It's what he does all the time. The Drama is meant to inflame and divide, and that's what it does. It gets people acting emotionally, and even though people are saying "Trump Trump Trump", it actually takes the pressure off of him because people are too busy bickering, yelling, and assaulting each other over it. This is what he's great at.

Not that it means he's a good President, I think he's the worst. And we can't trust him in the least when it comes to Russia, and we're not going to know likely for some time what the results of this meeting are. Trump is not a trustworthy source of information.

Probably. Let’s see if we even get an empty pledge out of it before we call it anything else. Some concession on Crimea or Syria would be nice, though I typically wait for some move toward fulfillment of promises before I take my pants off. I suspect we won’t even get the promise, though. More likely some boilerplate statement about “improving cooperation” or some such.

So humor me. What do you think it is?

I don't know yet what the President and Putin have talked about, so I'm waiting to hear...aren't you?

I know you have already decided, but I am going to wait and see what happens.

Trump seems like he could be compromised, so it will be interesting to hear the talking points Putin gives him to say.

No. They have already made up their minds. The narrative of this meeting has already been written. No matter what actually happens, the left will claim that Trump was played, he sucked up to Putin, Putin won. They did the same thing with the NK meeting . They want trump to fail and our adversaries to succeed.

Whats truly sad is that you likely actually believe that.

I mean, he was played by Kim.

I don't have to decide, we've already seen this show before where Trump has a bromance with human rights abusing despots.

And when he does it again this time, we still we won't hear a peep from you or your side. After criticizing Obama's every foreign policy move for his entire term, you've lowered the bar so much for Trump that if he doesn't do the things I said he'd do, you'll call it a victory of mass proportion.

The first question at any press conference should be - "President Trump, has Mr. Putin agreed to immediately turn over to you all of the Russians indicted in the Mueller probe for their attack on American democracy?"

If the answer is anything but YES - the follow up should be "just what are you going do about this?"

Whats truly sad is that you likely actually believe that.

How do you not believe that? lol

Even a toddler can understand how to manipulate someone and Trump seems like he can be easily manipulated. Compliments upon compliments then add in a healthy dose of admiration and you've got him where you want him.

It's TDS, the Trumpeteer Defense Syndrome. They can see no problems with their messiah.

But the real issues are that there is quite a bit of concern that Trump is compromised on some level, or at the very least, very easily played. And because this is a private one-on-one...we will not know what actually happened for some time. I doubt we figure out fully today what Trump really gave away in that meeting.

What?!?

And spoil the opening question in the Hannity interview!

There's been some things that have developed recently in the last 6 weeks or so in regard to Syria. Russia seems to be on board in assisting in removing Iranian backed troops from the area around the Southern border with Israel. Netanyahu went to see Putin last month.

Iranian leadership is not happy with Russia.

So my guess is this is part of the reason for this Summit with Putin.
