Trudeau explains why he's banning assault guns

Please do not try some bull**** emotional plea. Pointing out the stupidity of the arguments put forth by the pro gun group does not require any agitation.

your opinion is not shared by most people who understand firearms issues. Anti firearms views are either machiavellian power hungry strategy or emotionally based nonsense.

The defense of bearing arms, that McDonald's employees or flight attendants should be armed to prevent gun crime is ridiculous straw grasping

You want to talk about "emotionally based nonsense", start there.

We see plenty of "emotionally based nonsense" in this forum.... Then there are the people who respond to your "emotionally based nonsense".

I guess this is "emotionally based nonsense" from the CBC then:

Why Canada should ban the sale, ownership of handguns | CBC News

"A leading proponent of stricter gun control says allowing owners of recently banned firearms to keep them would make it easier for a different government to reverse the ban in future.
In a letter to Public Safety Minister Bill Blair, the group PolySeSouvient urges the Liberal government to implement a mandatory buyback program for all assault-style guns.
The Liberals outlawed a wide range of firearms early this month, saying the guns were designed for the battlefield, not hunting or sport shooting.
The ban covers some 1,500 models and variants of what the government considers assault-style weapons, meaning they can no longer be legally used, sold or imported.
The government proposes a program that would allow current owners to receive compensation for turning in the designated firearms or keep them through a grandfathering process yet to be worked out.
Sport shooters, firearm rights advocates and some Conservative MPs have questioned the value of the measures in fighting crime.
The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights says the ban affects hundreds of thousands of Canadians who have followed every rule and committed no offence...

Quoting yourself to keep the spam alive?

That is pathetic.

They must have polled Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal exclusively. That's the only way to find 80% of Canadians not knowing anything about firearms.

Who said they only polled people who don't know anything about firearms, in your mind would a poll of Nova Scotia have yielded different results ?

If no then where ?

I don't know about Nova Scotia but I don't know anyone here who thinks this ban is anything more than pandering for votes from city folks.
I don't care much either way. If I had that much money to throw away I wouldn't spend it on one of those rifles. Just that those rifles can't do anything a conventional wooden-stock semi-automatic hunting rifle can't do. Well, they can accommodate a bigger magazine but beyond that It's just the appearance that puts people off. Or appeals to them- I'm convinced that 4 out of 5 people who buy them are just buying a sexy-looking fashion statement.
Ban them or not, it won't make a damn bit of difference either way. Won't prevent anything.

Are you in a large community ?

Have you seen any opinion polls on Canada's recently announced gun ban ?

Yeah its emotobabbling idiocy from an elitist POS who pretends to be better than other citizens. Crap like him are exactly why honest people need to be well armed. He wants to put people in prison for owning a handgun. He's an enemy of the people and scum

But honest people don't need to be well armed or armed at all.

I'm not

Most people in Britain are not

Most people in Canada are not

And even most people in the USA are not.

you are confused. Many people enjoy shooting sports

you are confused. Many people enjoy shooting sports

Of course many people do, they don't constitute the majority though

And in any case, for the most part, existing guns bans across the world would affect hunting/sporting guns.

which is why we don't need such nonsense in the USA

So because most people enjoying outdoor shooting sports aren't affected ... is some a reason NOT to have gun control

Do you want to think about that for a moment.

If you think about it, there is no reason at all to oppose gun control.

If gun control allows you to keep guns for hunting / sporting purposes. You can have no grounds to want to keep the 2nd amendment as the need for defense is much reduced and what "need" is left is adequately covered.
