Tornado Deaths, Would it have Happened in a Blue State?

At least 23 killed when tornadoes rip through Alabama; death toll expected to rise, officials say

I can't help but wonder that this high death toll is the result of poor infrastructure and emergency response systems, something common in the deep Red States. Blue States tend to have their act together: sound structures, basements, sirens, emergency alert broadcasts on cell phones, etc. Red ones not so much.

It's all about geography. Plain and simple. March and April (and sometimes May) are bad months for Dixie Alley when it comes to tornadoes.

Dragging politics into this of all things is the dumbest damn thing.

Good infrastructure or not, there is only so much you can do. I am sure the red states have adequate alarms and safety measures.

Except when the power gets knocked out.

The mega-outbreak at the end of April 2011 in Alabama and Mississippi started off in the very early morning hours with a bunker buster of a storm line, knocking out power to almost everybody who would get slapped down again that afternoon. No sirens, no TV...no warning...unless you were listening to the blow-by-blow of the weather on a battery radio.

It's still early. I can probably beat this over the next 25 days :)

Batting for the fences ehh? I can get behind that.

Seems to happen every year....Why should Blue State America keep assisting?

Yes, Conservatives and Libertarians, government is actually a good thing.

Seeing 1/4 of that death-toll from one storm is unusual.

So now tornado deaths are due to Trump and the Republicans? How low can you go? You are disgusting.

Pizzagate, birth certificates, infanticide, Seth Rich, hamburgers...trust me. I can never be as disgusting as Right Wingers

Could a natural disaster wipe out a trailer park community in a blue state? I'm going to guess yes. It was a tornado not a political statement.
