To preserve internet speeds for telecommuting, should porn by banned?

You are right, we absolutely do not want Net Neutrality with government censoring who can broadcast what and how much. That is why we have the First Amendment in the first place, to keep government out of our conversations where they have no business being. The only people who advocate for Net Neutrality are the fascists, who want government's dictatorial control over the Internet.

Net Neutrality prevents censorship. I don't understand how you can claim a law banning censorship causes censorship.

I am experiencing very slow internet speed right now, and it’s frustrating me, so I got to thinking, since Internet pornography is non-essential and takes a lot of bandwidth, should it be outlawed by emergency declaration?

This is actually pretty easy to implement, ISPs can be ordered to stop allowing certain websites to be accessed.

Viewing streaming pornography could then be a misdemeanor and viewers arrested.

Thus allowing faster internet for everyone else

i vote we shut down this site 1st

No, it’s literally a law that says ISPs are not allowed to engage in censorship.

It isn't the ISP's who are doing the censoring under Net Neutrality, it is the government. Which is what made Net Neutrality illegal under Obama's FCC, and why it was abolished under Trump's FCC. The government has absolutely no business determining who puts what on the Internet. Any government interaction with the content on the Internet is censorship and illegal.

That is some creative (and totally incorrect) reasoning!

Deuce is right, its basically the rule saying "hands off" when it comes to certain types of traffic shaping. This is literally the opposite of censorship.

You clearly have no clue. How do you know Net Neutrality is being enforced if it is "hands off?" Obviously you intend to have government become the enforcer, a.k.a. the censor. That is not "hands off" when government determines whose traffic is allowed and whose isn't. In the real-world we call that censorship. You might want to learn the meaning of the word.

The ISP portion is hands off since they would not engage in traffic shaping. Obviously the government would need to do enforcement of this to keep the ISPs from censoring.

I clipped this line out because Net Neutrality doesn't dictate what is put on the internet. You and I are not talking about the same thing. Net Neutrality means the ISP can't selectively throttle traffic to your home. There's absolutely nothing involved with Net Neutrality that dictates what content is lawful and what content is not.

Net Neutrality gives the government control over content, and that kind of censorship is never going to be acceptable in the US, except to the fascists who always want total absolute control.

Who or what is the government censoring under net neutrality?

Instead, if beliving conservative lies about net neutrality you should read a source that is based on technology and not political spin.

Net neutrality is the idea that internet service providers like Comcast and Verizon should treat all content flowing through their cables and cell towers equally. That means they shouldn't be able to slide some data into “fast lanes” while blocking or otherwise discriminating against other material. In other words, these companies shouldn't be able to block you from accessing a service like Skype, or slow down Netflix or Hulu, in order to encourage you to keep your cable package or buy a different video-streaming service.

The Federal Communications Commission spent years, under both the Bush and Obama administrations, trying to enforce net neutrality protections. After a series of legal defeats at the hands of broadband providers, the FCC passed a sweeping net neutrality order in 2015. But in December 2017, the now Republican-controlled FCC voted to jettison that order, freeing broadband providers to block or throttle content as they see fit unless Congress or the courts block the agency's decision.

Net neutrality advocates have long argued that keeping the internet an open playing field is crucial for innovation. If broadband providers pick favorites online, new companies and technologies might never have the chance to grow. For example, had internet providers blocked or severely limited video streaming in the mid-2000s, we might not have Netflix or YouTube today. Other advocates highlight the importance of net neutrality to free expression: a handful of large telecommunications companies dominate the broadband market, which puts an enormous amount of power into their hands to suppress particular views or limit online speech to those who can pay the most.

That is another conservative lie. Net neutrality is the idea that ISPs are forced to treat all internet traffic equally without bias instead of throttling some that they might agree with or those sites that are the most profitable for them.

Well, for starters, if pornography is considered obscene as set by standards in the Supreme Court ruling of Miller v. California and later, Jenkins v. Georgia, only then can pornography be banned...and it is very hard to do that. Child pornography falls under different rulings and is far easier to prosecute (as it should be). So, there is a process with which to ban porn...it's just that most porn is not considered obscene which makes your mission a bit moot.

What Is Net Neutrality? The Complete WIRED Guide | WIRED

It is about whether government should be permitted to expand its power and encroach on our freedom of speech and due process protections. It also isn't a lie. We saw Obama's FCC violate our constitutionally protected rights for two years before the FCC under the Trump administration stopped the abuse. You claiming that Obama did not censor the Internet between 2015 and 2017 is the real lie here. Only the fascist left support Net Neutrality because it gives government absolute control over content. If you leftists don't like what someone is saying on the Internet, you just have government throttle their connection and delete their content and it solves all your problems. We know all too well why the fascist left want total government control of the Internet, and why it will never happen.

Net Neutrality gives the government control over content

No, that's what you were told it does.
Net Neutrality is
the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites.

Net Neutrality is

No, that was what I actually observed during Obama's FCC take over of the Internet in 2015 under the pretext of Net Neutrality.

Obama Takes Over the Internet! – Lexington Libertarian

Then the following year Obama gave away our Internet, allowing foreign nations like China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran to determine what we can and cannot put on the Internet.

Obama gives away the internet and, with it, our liberty - Washington Times

Like I said, only anti-American fascist leftist scum, like Obama, advocate for Net Neutrality.

So, you are under the impression that someone in Iran decides whether or not Debate Politics is allowed to exist? China?

You fell for some major propaganda, man.
